MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. #1044, 2-6-2T steam locomotive was built by Porter during 1924 for forestry operations on Vancouver Island. #1044 is a sidetank locomotive, and locomotives with this wheel arrangement were known as Prairies. It operated in Chemainus through the 1960s. It is currently on display in Chemainus BC.

Beautiful. Part of me wonders if she was scrapped long ago or if she is still patiently sitting where she was last parked waiting for her operators to return and rekindle her firebox.

Good news is she was preserved by the company in 1970 and it’s in displayed in bc.
