@@LionofLight777 My friend's father lived there when he was younger also, but as he grew up it all got worse and he eventually had a guy try to rob him at gunpoint. Luckily, he was in his truck so he grabbed the guys arm and hit the gas.
I'm born and raised from East Macon... I relocated to Cali for some years and live in Compton for a couple months... I felt alot safer in Compton than Macon... That should tell u something😕
I was born and raised in Macon too and these areas continue to experience years of neglect and lack of resource allocation as development has spread beyond North of Riverside Drive and Arkwright RD.
@@ontariocanada451 Obviously you haven't found yourself in the right neighborhood...not sure where you have been hanging out...if you want your life to end...got to the right neighborhood.
Wow....beyond Riverside? Hell, when i lived there Riverside was pretty much the beginning (or end lol) of town. I hope Macon and Atlanta never grow together in the future! One of the things i loved about Macon was the "small town" feel it had.
Im born and raised in macon. I still live in the hood. Lilly ave. You have to keep where u live looking clean and nice even if its in the hood. If we do our part, we can make this a better place to live. Oh yeah to my city council member bert bivins aint doing crap over here.!!!
This was a suggested video. And what a good one! I am proudly from Macon, Georgia and I still go there very often. Tindall Heights was where my single Mom of 5 held it all together. We didn't want for ANYTHING. Thanks for taking me back to where I learned to believe that I could do all things. 😎 Maconite to the core. And Hugs and Love to my fellow 478 Sisters and Brothers✌🙏.
Just moved here to Macon I hear about a lot of bad areas like I shouldn’t go in certain streets and stuff I live on the Northside ... and I don’t go looking for trouble I am a Afro American women so I have to hit up the hair stores and salons on that side though! I just moved from Augusta. They do need to do a lot of clean up the city is always building things on this side of town .. but one thing about US (black people) we never go to city meetings and demand that the building be cleaned and tore down or grass cut or the holes in the road fixed!! We gotta do better !!
We have to be honest with ourselves..most of us will only stand in line for the club and could care less about city meetings..quick question, why did you move to Macon?
worldpeace026 - My husband grew up in Macon when it was a nice place to live. He’s now 70. He was a cop there for about 20 years. We attend church there. We have relative there, but we built our home in the next county. Many people have moved to neighboring counties for better schools & to escape the crime of Macon.
Wow Charlie bo actually came to Macon!! I suggested this and it came true! You have now officially done two cities I've lived in. The other being Trenton NJ! Keep up the good work I enjoy your videos.
I moved to Macon in 2016 and I lived in a apartment complex off Napier, big mistake. It's sad that our people don't care how they live roaches is a part of their life. It's a nasty experience to be around that kind of life. Macon is poor and run down. I moved away and said I would never live in the hood again. I got a house here which is so much better than before. But the abandoned houses make the area looks rundown. Black people we need to do better.
I grew up in Macon. N. Macon actually. That is the area you want to live in case you ever move there. All cities big and small have hoods like this now or worse.
@@kentoryjam6096 Never mind, she's just named in the yearbook near someone in black face. My girlfriend did one of those annoying white lies that women do to sound more interesting.
Home of the Legends who changed Rock n Roll for ever...Little Richard and Otis. Wow so nice to drive thru. Big fan from all the way from India! Thanks bruh
Yeah little richard gave his life to Jesus. So that's not him no more before he died he preached the gospel of JESUS before he died. Thank GOD that's what Macon Georgia need to wake up and turn back to Jesus. Then it won't be all this crime parents got to start first raising their children not just in our building that we call Church but give them the word of the living God let them be filled with the Holy Ghost and fire and when the children get big they won't grow up killing stealing and developing a gang. And all the fathers of Macon Georgia, it's time for you to take a stand for your children so they won't go astray, even if the parents not together how about your children they are innocent they are the ones that grow up and be this gang or end up in jail, or selling dope come on black men we I said we have to do better. So Macon Georgia mens while we talking about black lives matter what matter is our children. Let's save our youth and family.
Oh man Unionville, my old stomping grounds(Albert Lane). Truly 😔😔 to see it gone down like this. Macon had so much pride in it city & yards. Praying for my home city
My brothers wife is from Macon, when they were stationed in Georgia he said they would visit her family in Macon all the time....They say Macon is quiet & slow.
It's crazy I live outside of Macon, have my whole life and as a teen I hung out all over Macon and these are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. You see so much bad stuff on the news about Macon but for the most part the people are minding their own business and just trying to get by.
@Yea Yea nah baby I’m from Atlanta lol Macon a diff type like I said I done been to all them hoods , you didn’t even name the bluff love or boulevard , Edgewood . I know you not from here at all
@Yea Yea You wrong Macon had almost 60 and the the population in Atlanta is 4X the size of Macon plus most murders committed in Macon are by people from There unlike ATL outta towners
Thanks for sharing this great video. This is something more people should do in the neighborhoods. People need to get out the action cam, mount it on the dashboard, cruise around, and show the world where they live. It was interesting to see so many single-level Ranch-style suburban houses that looked like they were built in the 1950s thru the 70s. This looked like evidence of a middle class. There are neighborhoods like this in middle class manufacturing towns where I live (I'm a Yankee). Because of the syphoning off of the wealth and opportunity by the super-wealthy and by foreign trade, many of those middle class neighborhoods are deteriorating here, too. Looks like Macon's infrastructure isn't always the best, either. (Rough streets, grown-over curbs, etc.) I would not be surprised if landline phone and internet, water quality, and other services were lacking. We all have to hang together and demand better accountability and standards.
I'm originally from Macon, and I love it, however I'll never live there again. Killeen/ Fort Hood Tx. Is my home now. Pleasant Hill, East Macon is where I was raised. Such a wonderful childhood.
Born and Raised in Macon. Still work there. Downtown Area looks like downtown Savannah. Any areas around Mercer College are remodeled and redone. And they are buying up alot of property also. Macon has changed alot over the years. Dont live there anymore but i have family that still do.
Zenagurl30 Ga bitch you all cap 🤣 downtown Macon don’t look like no mf savannah. You got that nasty ass crazy bull, the turtle, n a few other joints that keep gettin shot up n shit 💀. Don’t even act like Macon sum nice. The only thing holding Macon and Warner Robins up outta pure poverty is the Air Force base 25 min from downtown
@@Idk910 Please do a lil research sir. You forgot about the county jail, courthouse,da office, probation, parole office, frito lay, khols, perdue, cgtc all over mid ga,,,,,,and yea According to the chamber of commerce and those numbers it's growing foo!! Yeah it is a river-street feel. So do your homework and go outside of w.r. and macon... nicca! Dat part!
KINGS AND QUEENS Macon and Warner Robins are conjoined n been “growing” but all shit do is get shutdown in em cuz business can’t afford to stay open cuz everybody broke except the military n ppl who work on base.
A sad falcons Fan Georgia on my mind always. Macon is a shell 🐚 of what it used to be and I’m not talking from a “who hood is the worst point of view” the economy in Macon is dry
This is only Unionville and a very small part of South Macon. What about Houston Ave, Pleasant Hill, East Macon. Houston Ave is a like a mini strip mall in the hood lol, you just drive down that street just to look and see what’s going on
worldpeace026 when jack ellis left it seems so did the spirit and energy and people of Macon I say round 2011 and after a lot people left and the city died and all the political focus & resources went to the north side where the white folks mostly at think about that
@@KingFiy crap! I wanted to move back. If the spirit is gone, then its gone and alot of personality must have gone with it. Ill come visit first, because she has seen so many changes, she may not be the same lady at all. And that may break my heart.
@@joleneloveland2942 yes it is! Mercer is just buying up everything that's just the best thing about but its somewhat bad too in a way but I left myself and I feel better but we will never forget the times maybe we could bring it back
@@King.MaidenHeaven not where I'm living. I'm living here NOW, and it ain't dead with all these people and cars I see. And neighborhoods filled with people, and all the schools filled a whole bunch of kids. That's not dead is it
478 Dublin ga in the building much love to my surrounding hoods we gotta stay positive my young ppl put down the guns and pick that ball up like we use to in the days born and raised DUB all day south side baby raised me
Born and raised in Macon currently stay on the northside, but from Unionville. Macon definitely has a lot of work but if people do their part by educating themselves and getting more involved in the community could be a better place.
LaTrina Hill gorgeous face you....you are spot on with your assessment a change is gonna come for Macon eventually Macon used to be a bustling place all the resources and focus has gone to the northside which is typically white since Ellis left
Man I miss home. Those streets raised me. Miller middle school, the original central high school. Southwest high school for summer school every year. Sneeking to Greenville to chill, going to see my man in south Macon at night in my 82 pontiac bonneville. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Born and raised in macon. That ain't much of the hood though. U got cross keys, kings view village, and everybody local knows Payne City. Good video. We just got more shit stains to offer is all I'm saying
A few of those areas appear to maybe off Houston Ave. Others look to be maybe on the out skirts of Macon. But it's another beautiful, sunny day in Macon. She's got soul.
My dad grew up poor in Macon in the 50's and he'll drive me around and show me a bunch of empty lots where he used to live. None of the houses he lived in are still standing and he moved a dozen times.
Its a beautiful city. But then Lizella is a beautiful area too. Ive seen way worse hoods. Try west Atlanta or east Birmingham. East St. Louis....the eastbound freeway to St. Louis almost guarantees a stop off in East St. Louis! Anyone out there know what i mean about that freeway?
Lol should head out into West Greenville South Carolina . over by Moe Mill & Pendleton Street & nickletown & Freetown. That would be part of where I Used to Live.. Plus Greenwood South Carolina over by New Haven Apartments & So on lol .. I like your Videos. I like lol coming along while you drive. ! ✋
It's very sad of how bad Macon has gone down. The dirty rats has really made a mess of the town, and the lazy sorry local government is not doing anything about it😡😡😡
This doesn't look bad at all. I've lived in the hood most my life, big city and country. Lots of good folks live in these areas, thing to remember is mind your own, don't disrespect folks and stay home late at night you'll have no problems. I'd definitely live here .
Go thru cross keys. Lived in Macon for 23 years. grew up there. I moved 3 years ago but go to Macon about everyweeked to see family. Alot of memories there for real.
I just moved from Macon Georgia. Live there for 12 years. It's actually very nice and quiet. Considering I moved back to Atlantic City New Jersey where I was born and raised
This is a total collapse of infrastructure, on many levels. I grew up in the Albany area, left there in 81. There are areas in Albany that looks just like it did or worse, when I left there forty years ago. Roads and streets not maintained, houses collapsing, trash, overgrown grass, empty buildings everywhere. What are the elected officials doing for the districts they represent, obviously nothing. I can see Macon also has that problem. I been living in Southwest Florida since 81, and we have ghetto/hoods too. They don't play that run down looking shit down here. You either bring your property up to code or they levy you with fines until you do. When you are forced to live in those conditions, your chances of prospering and living the American dream are all but diminished.
They don't care. Seriously, it is known. Every year or two Macon/Bibb says they are going to tear all of the abandoned homes, clear the yards and auction the properties off. The plan will be major story on the local news and the local government never follows through with it.
@@waywardmomma9625 Yes, it does cost money. But if people would call Code Enforcement on houses where people live there, then they'll HAVE to clean-up. If there's vacant property, inmates will clean up. They did that here. I called. Call the Marshall's Dept. about junk cars. There are ordinances.
Yes I think so Just it is as media says but maybe those people are so kind just the poverty and the indifference of the state can make them look like that
Yeah I think the video makes it seem worse than it is. Would I want to walk down the road alone at night? no. But I live here and have run through some of those neighborhoods and have felt plenty safe.
My uncle remembers seeing Richard Penniman walking down Cherry Street looking very freaky indeed. Later he would be known as Little Richard. Also home of the greatest soul singer of all time, Mr. Otis Redding, and ABB. Oh yeah, and me Scotty B, Medical Center downtown, Dec. '69. Yeh,yeh!
I lived at the intersection of Beech and Birch in 2002. 2400 Beech Ave I believe (thanks Google Maps) lol. Anyways, EVERYONE was kind and respectful to us. Walk down the street to Miss Barbara's house for a dime bag and get your yard cut or WHATEVER for $2. Smhlol As crazy as my life was, i'll all appreciate seeing both sides of the coin... and what it means to live in a place where NO ONE would deliver anything but drugs! 😂 Gotta say, God has raised me up and I'm so grateful. Anyways, yeah, there's crime but I honestly found if you respected others and didn't take no crap, people left you alone for the most part. When you're too poor to have much to take, guess you ain't in the same situation. People don't poop where they live... well, they do but that's in track homes etc. Love and blessings to all. Macon is def a mixed bag! 💞
