HI Lee, Can I just say WOW, I am new to macro photography and photography in general. you make it so clear and easy to understand, you are a true inspiration :-) thank you
Thank you ever so much my kind friend glad to see you on board i really appreciate your kindness and support please feel free to share any of my videos with your photography friends and please stay safe. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi Lee, After watching some of your dandelion shots I decided to have a go.I have not had so much fun for ages. The results are mixed but I have enjoyed learning a new skill. You make it simple to follow and that helps. Keep up the good work. Gerry
Lovely. Btw you can get blunt-ended needles with syringes dead cheap from Ebay - for anyone who has kids in the house that might pick up the sharp ones. Think they are for stuff like this.
Nice video again Lee, your video techniques have really inspired me to do more macro, in fact it's got to the stage that I can't stop, found some small clocks today and gave it a go for the first time, look forward to getting some bigger ones soon. Think I will have to invest in some of Jan Bell,s reflectors. Will put up a few pics on my FB page shortly. 😁📸👍🏻
Thank you Lee, I have done photography for a long time but only got my first macro lens in Feb and I'm completely hooked thanks to yours and Stewart's Videos.
In explaining the setup, What I think you mean is that the plane of the sensor needs to be as parallel to the subject as possible to allow a shallow depth of field which blurs out the far edge of the plate. Hope this helps !
Hi fella, i stumbled on your channel by chance. I am a beginner at Macro, and i have to say that you are inspirational. Keep up the good work, and i will look foward to future lessons
I just love you macro videos. You have a way of explaining things that make me want to grab my camera and try it. About a week ago I watched on of you videos where you had a small flower, with a water drop on it, placed in milk. I wanted to rewatch before trying and I can't find it. I've got the flower, milk, flash, snoot, etc ready. Please let me know the title.
Hello my friend thank you from the bottom of my heart if you subscribe to my Chanel you should see them all. The title is small is the new big my friend 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great video. Definitely sharing it with my macro friends. Would you happen to have an actual link for the flash diffuser. I can't see to locate it using a google search.
Great stuff, I got to have a go at this seeing as we can't get out at the moment. Are you using the flash mounted on the camera with the Pringles snoop or off camera Thanks for a great video
Hello my friend thank you ever so much. My flash settings was 1/32 of the power. I always have the flash positioning on top of my camera hope this helps 🙏
This is the first video I have watched of yours and i absolutely loved it. Extremely well presented and explained at a pace that i could follow. I have just one question though. what flash did you use.
Hello my friend thank you kindly for watching my video my flash is a neewer speedlight nw565ex its just a cheep one from Amazon but it still does what i want it to do. Plese feel free to subscribe and take a look at my other video
Hello Mr. Lee. Simply fantastic. Subscribed. Could you please leave the camera settings and the type of equipment we can use to create some similar? Thanks Greetings from Miami. FL.USA
Hi Lee I was wondering. Instead of milk have you ever tried watered down white acrylic paint? Just wondering if it would give the same effects without being wasteful of milk with the price of food these days... at least in my neck of the woods. Look forward to more post/tutorials from you have a great day
Hello there my friend. I have never tried it to be honest with you but I should say it would work. I can tell you another thing I have used to turn the water white and you can still use it after. I use Dettol disinfectant all you have to do is do a little bit into the water and it turns the water white. And after you can still use it Thank you for your kindness and support. I am just doing a video now. Hopefully it should be done for tomorrow
@@LeeHallphotography:) thanks. I shall give it a go and let you know how it works out using acrylic paint. I don't have that particular cleaner, but I do have milk and paint
Hi Lee, I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me with your videos but more importantly giving me the belief in myself that’s allowed me to ‘have a go’ I’m loving it! 📸 I have one question for you, for your dandelion clock images what lens are you using the majority of the time? I have been using my Canon 5Diii but I also have a 5DSR (I usually save the latter for my wedding work to allow me some quality cropping if needed) The macro lens i have is an old Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Thank you again for such GREAT videos you really are a great inspiration for us all! Helen xx
Hello my friend 99% of the time i use a canon 100mm lense. The one you have is perfect for the job. The only difference is i use a canon 7d and a 750d wich have a cropped sensor wich helps me to fill the lens with my images. But you should get the same if you crop in my friend
Lee Hall ah that’s great! I have an old 7D that I used to use for horsey shots. I’ll dig it out and dust it off. Thank you again for giving us so much enthusiasm and inspiration!! Hope you are keeping well and strong xx
Hi Lee, after I subscibed to your channel I cannot stop watching your videos. They very informative and your finished photographs are fantastic. One thing I wondered, in a lot of your videos you use milky water, does it matter what proportion you use for the two liquids. Stay safe and keep producing these fantastic videos.
Thanks Lee, another very intuitive video, can't wait for my dandelions to grow. Have found a listing on the web for 'Crafty Bells' but no site showing flash diffuser items to purchase, any idea where t find them?
Here is the link to the Snoots on Photography Accessories by Crafty Bells website: photographyaccessories.com.au/shop?olsPage=t%2F-snoots while you are there you might want to look at the Macro Systems also under Macro in the category.
Lee, saw your post on facebook today ... my goodness, this is wonderful. I'm sorry to ask but can you tell me where to get the flash diffuser. You've made my photographic day!
Hi great vid and a new subscriber. Can I ask what lens you was using on the video and how far was you placing the reflective back grounds behind the plate cheers stay safe Darren
Thank you kindly my friend Iwas using a canon 100mm lense my background i keep movind but they are probably around 1 ft away from the plate. Hope this helps you
Hi Lee , can I ask you a question please , when you photograph the dandelion in the milk reflection , where do you focus to get most of the Dandelion and reflection in focus , Thanks
Hello my friend i always focus on the very bottom of the seed head where the droplet meats the seed. Then I set the appatur around f6 then work my way up the appatur so everything is in focus
Hi Lee - fantastic shots...been playing with similar today...can you please explain where you placed your backgrounds and flash please? Im guessing the backgrounds just sit behind the plate, with the flash firing onto them, and reflecting into the water? Cheers!!
Hi my friend i keep the backgrounds in my hand and keep moving them around as i take the shots so that the lights from the flash casts a different colours in to my milk. My flash was mounted on top of the camera for this sort of shots my friend
Hi Lee, what were your settings on your flash please. I’m usually outside not requiring a flash so I don’t know how to use a flash properly. Thanks so much Lee. Cheers.
Lee , this may be a stupid question but I've got to ask, do you pick the dandelion when in flower(yellow) and put the stems in water and wait for it to develop or wait for the dandelion clock to form naturally. When you've stopped laughing would appreciate an answer. Thanks
Hello mate no its a great question i do pick them when they are fully open and gone to seed. But i do watch them and as soon as they have followed and have closed i do often pick them and put them in sugar water in the kitchen and they will go to seed. But it will not work if they have just started to flower my friend hope this helps. 👍👍
Ok no problem are you subscribed to Stewart Wood if so go to is video on your not alone there is a link to a forum called discord. There are some brilliant people on there with the same cameras i promise you they will know and you will meet some great people on there. I am a canon user .hope this helps.
Thank you Lee for the shout out and review. My website is www.photographyaccessories.com.au and the Snoots have a category of their own plus there is a Macro category as well.
@@KayDee778 I have sent products to Austria. In January it took 12 days from Australia to Austria. In these time it could take longer depending on each country's limitations.
Hi Lee, I've contacted you on Messenger. My daughter's had a go at taking some dandelion shots and she would like you to comment on them - please could you let me know if you would do this and can we send them to you on Messenger? Ty Paul
