Dandelion Water Droplet Refraction Photography!
In this video, I'll be putting all we have learned over the last two years together to create some dandelion water droplet refraction photography. We try some new techniques that give different results that you may or may not like, we all like different things and that's what is great about photography.

Thanks for this I've just discovered this although I shoot from the dark side ie Nikon I have subscribed and hopefully once this terrible situation is over. We may bump into each other over Doxey Marshes, Stafford. I'm normally lurking around that area for most of early spring and summer. Due to the fact it's within walking distance. As a macro boy you'll have a ball over the marshes

Excellent! Finally someone has found a use for dandelions. I couldn't find a syringe so I picked up a needle point glue injector from my wood working store. I put my flower setup on an old corrugated plastic sign (18" x 24") . Then when I want to adjust it, I slide the setup rather than the camera.

That is good advice; experiment. Slight changes of lighting, focus, etc. can make big changes to macro images. I've got a 180 macro that I haven't tried on my EOS R yet. This encourages me to try some of water droplet refraction photography this weekend.

I'm really enjoying your videos! Thanks so much for the effort you put into them. I wonder if you've tried mixing glycerin into the water used to spray or syringe onto the plant matter? It should thicken it nicely while retaining perfect clarity...the increased surface tension should allow the droplets to retain their shape longer.

Wow! This was so amazing to watch. I've always wondered how people got these shots. I also did not realize that there were "clock" pieces (now that all makes sense) and thus how it look like one little "flower bud". I have lots and lots of dandelions here in Canada ... so I will have no problem getting some to use. I do have one question about the plasticene. How are you attaching the dandelion clock to it??? I couldn't really see how you did it. Do you pinch the bottom of the clock into the plasticene?

Why don't you use a focus rail under your camera? Something like a Manfrotto 454 or similar from Amazon, will allow you to move the camera small amounts instead of picking up your tripod for gross adjustments. A two axis rail will allow both front to back and side to side movement.
