You found a pretty good find to be honest. Especially since the DYRL DLC is on the game card already. I know you're a Robotech fan and you may be confused on stuff here but a brief rundown is that this was one of the 3 original series that Robotech used in their sagas. The thing is, after a while it became its own franchise in Japan, leaving Robotech to become a weird frankensteined project of the 80s. Honestly if you prefer watching it cause of nostalgia or preferring older animation, then it's the way to go. But if you like anime and want a semi-decent long series, then Macross is your best bet.

It's rather bizarre to see Hikaru and Misa with teenage Max then it shifts them to 50+ year old Max in the next panel.

I purchased the Steam version. Too bad, stupid Steam has a strict rule that forbids the gamers from using the vpn to buy games from another region. I wonder if I can buy this dlc while I take a trip to Japan. I can bring my laptop or Steamdeck with me and log in my account when I go to Japan. Hope this is legal.

@@AnEnginerd I remember the region of your Steam account will be switched once you sign in with different IP, and you must stay in this region for more than three months or your Steam account will receive the warning letter unless you can prove you have traveled abroad.

@@AnEnginerd My friend went to China for business last year, around the time when Metal Gear Solid Master Collection was released. That game is excluded in Chinese region of Steam so my friend had to switch the region of his account to Hong Kong so he could buy the game. Then he would have to log in his Steam account with the Hong Kong IP, using the vpn, for another three months before he switched back to his original region. Pretty nasty experience. Actually, the vpn he used has US IP, I wonder why he couldn’t just log in with the US IP. 😂

@@AnEnginerd Yeah, that’s why I call Steam’s restriction on region stupid. Well, I can understand they don’t want the users to buy games from the regions which provide lower price, but they shouldn’t limit the users to buy games from the regions that don’t provide lower price.

I have been playing this game for like a week, as a robotech fan, I am super disappointed. Because of the robotech tv show, at some point I watched the do you remember show, it is the same with different music that I love. So this Macross insight game, the problem it has, it has nothing of the music from the movie, I haven’t seen any of the other tv shows like 7, plus, zero, etc. But I am so disappointed I don’t feel the atmosphere is Macross, at just feel like a small shooting game, the gameplay is good, the game mechanics are good. But, there are no power ups, the pilot you choose is the type of weapon you get, so actually Rick hunter is the most powerful, the other guys are super weak. And also the mission becomes the main weapon, you use the machine gun very little and keep using the missiles over and over, is so anoying each time you shoot the missiles he says “どうだ？”dou da? That means “how is that?” Maybe if by random he said different things would be nice, but each time you shoot the missiles he say the same thing over and over, it gets so tiring. Really I am disappointed at this game. At least for the switch is like a little shooting arcade game that last for 1 hour, this is good for waiting at the airport or something similar. But as a Macross fan, this game is super bad.

I feel like it's a decent game and a fair use of the licence. I wish you could transform at will. You can turn the voices off in the audio options. The tan jet has great machine gun, but the Robotech jet has the best lock-on missile barrage. It's a fun arcade shooter, but no where near the PS2 game by SEGA.

@@AnEnginerd I agree, I wish there was power ups, energy tanks to refill your energy, also to transform at will would be good. The super famicom game from 1994 does all of this correct. It is not a bad game, but I just wish they used the music from the tv shows. Also the story I don’t mind is in Japanese, but they use only one picture for each character, so not to much effort in this things. There was a big chance to make a super good game. But still don’t regret buying it, it is fun.
