Fun facts: 1. Natalie Cortez was originally playing Nina during the Connecticut (2005) and off-Broadway (2007) tryouts of In The Heights(which Karen officially stared in as Nina of course)! 2. This revival has new Spanish lyrics provided by In the Heights(and also Hamilton) creator and star(Usnavi/Alexander) Lin Manuel Miranda!
@@dylancoleman5021 Actually, I am correct, but not completely. Natalie did play Nina before Mandy Gonzalez originated the role on Broadway. The role of Venessa, however, was played by Sheena Marie Ortiz during Connecticut (2005) and off-Broadway (2007) tryouts, before Karen Olivo originated the role on Broadway. Fun Fact, the only actors who stayed with the show to Broadway(three in their same roles) are Christopher Jackson(Benny), Robin de Jesús(Sonny), Janet Dacal(Carla), and Javier Munoz(who actually played the role of Usnavi principally during Connecticut (2005) and off-Broadway (2007) tryouts, before Lin decided it was his chance to shine on Broadway( XD )(still, though, at least Javier got to stay in the original Broadway Ensemble, then understudy and eventually take over the role(and then the same 7 years later with the title role of Alexander Hamilton, of course.))). Thank you for motivating me to make this correction only 11 months later, though! 😅
NATALIE CORTEZ IS BOSS! I was freaking out that Karen wasn't on but then I saw Natalie! She is an amazing dancer and singer! It's nice to see that last kick up to par with the other girls (still love you Karen)
This is my fave performance from the revival so far :D! Karen Olivo was an amazing "acted" Anita- but she wasnt a dancer and lacked the fire and stage pressence that dancers has. Natalie Cortez is fierce and amazing- would so love to see them do the original choreography since I know Natalie can do it :D! And she also sings the roof off. Amazing :D
I happen to adore Natalie Cortez, there's no pt in a Karen vs Natalie battle. Both have their strengths and weaknesses in terms of who does a better job. They're busting their asses and both gave me chills the two times I saw the revival. No hate here, KEEP KILLING IT GIRLS!
I love Natalie, but I just don't like her as Natalie. She doesn't seem, I don't know, there's just something about her that I like about Karen better. I loved Natalie as Diana in Chorus Line though, fantastic.
