A short video on how to make dust extraction fittings from PVC pipe.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to crimp PVC pipe to make adaptors or just to fit into the shop-made dust extraction fitting which is almost always a different size to the standard plumbing PVC pipe.
This a great way to make dust extraction connectors from plumbing pipe.
Using this method you can save a lot of money and probably also build a much more effective dust collection system. Keep an eye out for future videos as I will make another video on how to crimp 40 or 50mm PVC pipe to make adaptors. This is a great DIY project that you can easily do in a small workshop.
The pipe I'm using is essentially a 110 mm plumbing pipe. This is a great way to make all sorts of adapters from plumbing pipes. You can make adapters for wet and dry vacuums, cyclone dust collection systems for the DIY enthusiast.

What a great idea. I used PVC pipe to make tool holders for my service van. I used a heat gun to custom fit the holders to the tools, very much like you've done here.

MadMike you are a genius! I had made the die and was going to split it, heat the PVC and clamp it. I ran a ¼ round bit around and pushed it. $21 for a stick of pipe, I'm making flex hose adapters for 73¢ each. You da man ! 👍

@@kjo4498 Ok cool so you made it deeper than mine. That's good to know. I was thinking that too much deeper may cause issues. Well done.

Super! I wouldn’t have thought you could do that with a heat gun. Anything to do with a shop vac hose is stupid expensive these days.

Hello Ken. Good luck. It takes a bit of practice so use some offcuts first to get the technique right.

@@madmikemakes3056 I got it working! I cut a 4" hole with a hole saw and used a router to chamfer the inside of one side. I then heated the PVC with the heat gun until it was soft and pushed it into the opening. I then used the circle from the cutout to push into the pipe. This allowed the PVC to repair it's shape. Once it cooled, I tried it and it worked great! Thank you again!

You're welcome. There is a bit of knack to it. The more you practice the easier it will become. I messed up the first few by going to fast.

A heat gun with two settings is good. Good for bending conduit too. What is the make of that disc and belt sander please?

Hi Hayden. It's from a company called Adendorff here in South Africa. Where are you based? I have found that some of their machines are "copies" of other brands so you may be able to find the same machine under a different brand elsewhere. Check out adendorff.co.za.

Love this idea. Can you share how you made the template you used? Did you just use a jig saw to cut the initial circle and then round over the edge using a router?
@madmikemakes3056
@madmikemakes3056 Год назад
Hi. I just drew the size of the circle I needed, cut it out with a jigsaw, and then used a spindle sander to get it to the exact size, and then rounded it over with the largest round-over bit I had.

Please, how can I increase 4" PVC pipe to 6"?
@madmikemakes3056
@madmikemakes3056 3 года назад
Hi I'm sorry but I seem to have missed your question. 2 Inches is quite a large increase in diameter. I'm not sure that you can increase a pipe size to that diameter in 1 step. I suggest that you build a small box with a 4" inlet on one side and a six" outlet on the other. I hope this helps and once again apologize for missing your comment regarding this video.

METAL PIPING SHOULD BE USED, NOT PVC.
@madmikemakes3056
@madmikemakes3056 3 года назад
Hi Bruce. Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, metal piping isn't readily available here. Also living close to the beach even galvanized piping rusts fairly quickly. As a matter of interest, why do you prefer metal? Your comments are much appreciated.
