thanks for the great demo. both are great sounding but the sweet honey took away the natural sound of the guitar to give it a more fuller but slightly processed sound. the honey bee was quieter but more pleasing to my ears, a little more clear and defined from string to string, peace, rich
i just recieved my sweet honey today and it's exactly what i wanted for a low gain pedal that doesn't sound all shity when you play complex chords.. great for the funky type shit.
@yjmsrv yes! great idea...b/c everyone uses the same reverb and we'd definitely know what the pedal sounds like if reverb was on...i get what you're saying, but thats the point of a demo to hear that pedal and ONLY that pedal...i don't want 23 other effects running while i'm trying to hear this pedal...thats why people like GMD, Andy @ PGS, and burgermann are so popular...b/c they know how to do these demos right
Reverb is awesome if you know which, when or how to use it. The Honey Bee is WAYYYYYY too fucking low in output, huge amount of compression, but nice knee ( compression) on the lower mids - so the 4th -5th string bended notes bloom.
For a gear demo, I wanna hear a dry sound that showcases the sound of the pedal I might spend some hard earned cash on. Reverb can enhance your sound in the right context, just like any effect can, but this is not it. @JackOrion0670 Throw some reverb on, then you have the same dime a dozen rock licks... with reverb.
"Because reverb sucks". Actually, I think that is the only thing I hate about GMD's gear demos, to flat, dry and dead sounding. He needs reverb something fierce. Not tons of surf reverb, just enough to sound like he's in a room, not a box! Gear Mann Dude, get over your reverb phobia, it's killin' your tone on every gear demo you have!
SWEET HONEY - gain sounds slightly grittier at less than 50% HONEY BEE - sounds smoother ***like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.***
Reverb sucks? Tell that to Ry Cooder. I guess if your into soulless run of the mill dime a dozen rock licks then reverb may not be your thing. To each is his own I suppose. Cheers!
Wrong amp and wrong guitar for these pedals. The Sweet Honey doesn't excel in anything, is just another OD pedal. The Honey Bee is unique, is for the few clever guys who like saggy and warm distortion. Also the sweet honey is louder and you may be influenced a lot by that...
