Gotta love a military style diver. I love the case shape on that one. I think it’s the rounded lugs that really sets it off. None more legible dial too. Awesome show as always MWC 👍

I noticed you had this on your wrist on Sunday night (great show by the way). I have a CWC SBS Diver (Re-Org) and love the watch, it’s such a good time keeper. This one looks great with the polished steel and the original logo. CWC are a very understated company that are making some very nice and collectable watches.

my dad was in the royal navy- and was issued with the CWC in the 80's. he hated it- and his mates used to play conkers with it. Wish he'd kept it- cus its an absolute beauty.

For this style I like the Christopher Ward Dartmouth. Comes in both a black and a blue version. 150 M water resistant (latest version has screw down crown), COSC, same 41mm case diameter and £945 on bracelet (some of the best bracelets out there too). One of my favorite watches.

Great vid on my old work watch ( quartz version sadly) . 923 -7697 is RN Hybrid code for Watch ( Fleet Diver ) . The same numbers can be found on Precista , Milsub and Omega SM 300 . It can also be found on the new “ no time to die “ watch . Keep up the great work ;)

Monnin cases are nice, mainly used by the tag heuer 844/980. I own the felca seascoper with daydate and genuine patina. Definitely look for this piece at less than 500

great to see a review of this awesome watch. it is simply incredible in person and on wrist and comes with unprecedented military provenance from a great company. it feels like stepping back in time with this watch on and it's worth every dime/pound/dollar. with a rock solid eta 2824 movement that performs well within cosc standards (if that's important) it's a no brainer. end of story. cheers and thank you :))

Looks like it’s based off the 1960s Omega Miltary Seamaster 165.024. There’s even some models Iv seen of it with the T as well. Very cool! Because you like military inspired divers have you consider Omegas homage to the 165? It’s the 2254 auto and the 2264 quartz.

I think the dates you stated may not be correct as I have a original that was issued to me when I was serving, do you know if there is a way to check the build year using the serial number ?

I was also issued a CWC in 81 when joining a Mine Hunter. (HMS Bossington). I now have a limited (50) automatic RN Clearance Diver version complete with my Official Number and crest engraved on the back. Gets as many comments as my Double Red.

Hey buddy, your watch is still on the army database under that stock no! I noticed on the back of your watch, it appeared to be missing the country code from the nato stock no (NSN) which for the UK is '99'. I was unsure at first, because the first char on the back of your watch was '9'. Anyhoo, full NSN for your watch is '99 923 7697'. And as you rightly stated the first 4 digits, the Nato Supply Classification Code (NSC) is an oldy. I won't be able to tell you the current one, as that is classified but I hope this helps, and definitely proves it's pedigree. Interestingly it is still a 'current' item, not obsolete/obsolescent.

If CWC will issue a 2-piece leather strap and spring bar option on their watches and a stainless steel bracelet option on that diver, they would sell more watches. A ghost date position is an opportunity to make a diver with a date complication.

Hey Russ! Would you recommend an MWC(no pun intended) quartz military style diver to someone who doesn't want to spend that much on a CWC diver? To me it looks like that's a good value homage at around 225GBP of this same watch pretty much. And it is supposedly not entirely without heritage either.

Im a big Bond fan and saw the JOMW review of the Mellor 72 and love the ‘On Her Majesty’s Service” title lol. Plus the new Bond watch has the broad arrow. Been hooked on the brand since

Nice watch and British....sort of. Not sure if I like the fully polished case, unusual for the MOD to have this spec as the WWW watches of the 2nd WW had to have no reflective materials, you could always take a Brillo pad to it 😵. I wonder what other British watches you will review next

@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR i dont think its worth anything its scratched doesnt glow sand in bezel i think.and its quartz nothing special just means too much sentimental wise the click bezel no longer works either and no day date, we had to use quartz for accuracy . If i was offered 300 i dont think i'd take it. they stopped giving rolex ouit sadly by lthen. I dont think im allowed its says the card board box property of .MAA 8.8.8.8.8 blue sec 6 must be signed in or something my memory not good lol

Because it is radioactive, and no longer permitted for use as lume on wrist watches.

It is not really cheap. Do you think this CWC is going to be a good investment ? For sure right now is basically impossible to get a Rolex Milsub. I see in one of the latest auction in Dubai a Milsub has been payed 400.000 US dollars !!! Is not crazy ?

Wow!!! Mega money my friend!! I do believe CWC does and will hold there value, there designs are historical important aswell as the brand for the British military. Military watches are very popular and I don’t see that dying down either!

Oddly too they actually have the RN Fleet Air Arm Mech Chrono reissue in stock when it states out of stock on the website; because I asked if and when it would be returning. Perhaps the website needs re doing. No matter. Great videos btw.

Had two of the SBS version in the early 2000s when they cost about a third of today’s price. Both stopped working after a few months. Returned and replaced the first one. Then when the second did the very same thing, I got a refund. Never did get to discover what the problem was. Not impressed at all, especially given that this is supposed to be an operational piece of kit. In my opinion there’s no way they are worth that much money. Do a long term revue at 12 months.

THE MAD WATCH COLLECTOR Maybe. I hope you have a better experience. To put my experience in context, among my many watches I have a mid 1990s Lorus Titanium field watch with a Seiko movement (and the rare black dial) which cost me £35. It’s never let me down, never been serviced, and gains about 3 seconds per year! That type of reliability and timekeeping makes a mockery of a lot of more expensive watches.

The crime is CWC is always short on their stock. I want a No Date Window SBS badly but they never make enough of them. Do not care if it issue or not. Just want one with the same specs and quality.

I hear ya my friend. What I will say is the watches are not only manufactured in Switzerland, they are assembled also. That’s not cheap . I also know a few companies that have to pay 3/4 of the price of the watches up front ! It’s a difficult balance running the stock for sure. They flood the stock rooms they may struggle to sell and therefore sit on money that could be used elsewhere! I feel you though! It’ll happen and it’ll come!

Great history which I love but those prices for a quartz watch with average specs and nearly $1000 AUD for a base model? No thanks. I'd rather a Gavox which is a real air force pilot's watch sold to the Belgium military and looks stunning...

The dial and bezel was a direct rip off from a 60’s omega seamaster

Neil it was specific MOD specifications that made the Omega. The similarities are there but it’s mil spec where as Rolex took there Subby and fitted in the criteria . The Omega was a military designed Omega as is the CWC;)

@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR actually omega had that dial circa 1962 on the transitional sm300, the bezel a year later. Apart from fitting a screw down crown instead of omegas proprietary naiad crown the watch was virtually good as is. The mil sub was styled after the sm300 and the Cwc was quite literally an omega rip off.
