Mad zach making the internet better one video at a time. Thanks dude, this is an excellent video and answered a lot of my questions around simpler. Seriously, much appreciated. Keep 'em coming holmes!
I watched about 5 videos and this one actually properly explained how to use it and what the features of the simpler do even though you didn't end up using them. Nice job. Thank you 👌
i have only recently found your videos, enjoyed all of them. they are brilliant, having just purchased the push 2, and i have to say, they are just what i was looking for, this is the right way to use the push 2, none of the boring trying to remember all the 64 notes, your an inspiration doode. many thanks
Just subscribed because of this video. When I realized what you were putting together it was so cool to hear it all come together. Hope I can come up with stuff like this in the future, this is very cool.
Hey Mad!!! Nice tutorial, easy and clear! But I'm trying to do with my MPD32 and dosn't work the manual chop with pads... Do you know what I should do to work? Thanks a lot!!
Zach, loved your 64 pack you put out so thanks for that. I'm using Push ... wondering if I should go for a Push 2 or OP-1? tough choice ... I'm doing a lot of remix work and sampling
This is awesome and super instructive. My question would be: how was the vocal sample at the same tempo as the Withers beat right off the bat? That's the part I'm struggling with.
very nice explanation, as usual! I'm trying to find videos on the step sequencer, like making acid lines and seeing the deeper edit on the fly functions in practice, i cant find anything, beyond the ableton intro vid, which is like 2 min long
Great video. The only suggestion I have is to use a desser on the audio of your video. It needs it badly, unless it's on my end. But it doesn't happen with other videos. Thanks for an excellent feature demo.
From what sample library is the vocal? It is traditional ethno Bulgarian music. :) I'm glad you are using samples from our traditional folklore. Greetings from Bulgaria! Vizar :)
Hi zack, this is a cool video and well made but I failed to learn anything new about 9.7---I'm already using these techniques and features in 9.63. Can you do a video on what's new in the 9.7 update from 9.63 or 9.6 updates?
If you nudge the end of the sample back, doesn't it make the following 'slice' start late? With Maschine, you can alter the start and end points indecent of other slices. Is that possible with the Push? Possibly with Live 10?
Can´t seem to find the "Nudge" feature on Simpler itself. Is that only when using Push? I guess i have to use the mouse to drag the starting points around when i don´t have Push, or is the Nudge thing somehwere?
If you had it set to thru would you really have to hit the last two triggers? As it seemed to just be the end of the song playing as normal. Just asking for sake of clarity.
Basically what Recycle has done for AGES lol. One benefit of Recycle is that you can add in a kinda tail at the end so make the chops sound more natural and you also get the option of having a midifile created for the sample as well
Ok I'm very new to this and understand everything except how to trigger both samples at the same time after they have been sliced? That part does not seem to be mentioned in the video.
DJ Tech I appreciate the video on many levels bro. First of all how your taking samples and creating a whole new song in Ableton is nice bro. I just bought a Push 2 and its been very challenging how i can really use this controller. People dont have time to show you how to really use AL9S and Push 2 in a setting not unless you pay for a course and your not guaranteed that you will get the results. The purpose of me buying the P2 is that im coming from the MPC generation so i like the feel of playing my drums yet alone programing in step edit mode. I noticed that your recording in arrangement view playing in realtime instead of step mode. Does P2 allow step edit in arrangement. I am still learning AL9S and P2, because i was going to buy FL at first but a good friend of mines told me abot Ableton. Lastly Do you have any recommendations or videos i can watch to really get an understanding of AL9S and P2 together. My genre production is Southern Trap Rick Ross, T.I,Kendrick Lamar, and Urban Trap Rhianna, Chris Brown thats the vibe I'm on.
does live 9.5 not have slice by "manual" mode? I am not seeing it on my push 2 or in my simpler. rookie question here..but also yes using 9.5 not 9.7 like this video is meant for
its worth every penny. of course you dont need it but nothing kills the creative spirit more than sitting in front of a fucking screen with a mouse. Its nice to PLAY music, not just program it.
no I get that its just more convenient to move around different markers that are very far apart on a large file without having to zoom in on each every time. but i guess that's what a Push is for...
