I met him the other day at a masterclass for my jazz band, I sat down and chatted with him. I’ve never seen anyone shred on a harmonica the way he can.
Love Madcat every time I hear him play,he is true master of the Blues Harp! he has that Sonny Terry thing going with the whooping and Sonny Boy thing with the Train!
Madcat is an amazing guy. I hear he is able to emulate tongue blocking sounds without using his tongue even. He is a unique player with a style that has many influences from old greats such as Sonny Terry as can be heard in this great performance. Whoop Whoop! Peter Madcat Ruth is a helluva versitile musician. One of my all time favorite performers; I often tell people they must watch this video...
@Janusheks30 Oh, lighten up. Don't you see the fun in it? MadCat is a SERIOUS player...as good as (if not better than) any harmonica player out there. He does this as 'extra' for pure entertainment value. Plays in a group called 'Triple Play' with Chris Brubeck (son of Dave), plays with Shari Kane as 'Madcat and Kane', and has a long string of his own credits. He's a multi-faceted performer and yes, even a GRAMMY Award winner. So to answer your question, the WORLD needs music like this! :)
Brilliant! One of the best harmonica things I have ever seen or heard. I love this strain in your many vartieties of musical talent: your silly one! Glad it's off the instruction cd and out here for the world to witness. MadCat for Children had a lot of this humor, too.
Hello Sir, Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece with us on RU-vid, your playing is superbe!! We enjoyed it very much!!!!! My beloved wife Mayka and I make music together, Mayka plays her keyboard and I my Suzuki or Hohner chromatic Harmonica, we enjoy it very much. We wish you a lot of success at making your music in the future!!!! Our best wishes to you, Friendly greetings Chris and mayka - The Netherlands - Europe - RU-vid chrismayka.
the question is whether you could do it sober or would need to be intoxicated to do your best work, lol...funny comment, newpower319....I could try to do it too but I am afraid it would sound pretty sloppy compared to the Madcat and my dog might throw up on my bed forcing me to clean up his mess...
The harp's great, but the musical toothbrush was best. Keep practicing on toothbrush and release the madcat harmonica and toothbrush experiment next...
Would you post a video of you doing it if you knew someone would slap some $'s in a paypal account if you did even a pretty good cover of Madcat's performance? kevincanwait, I see you know good harpin' so whoop it up and do something as wild and impressive and we might have to reward you for showing off your talents.
@Janusheks30 Simple answer then: stop listening! what part of 'enough' are you not understanding? Feel free to change the channel. Watch/listen to something else and leave THIS one for those of us who truly enjoy it. Is that clear enough now? I have no wish to continue further dialogue with you about this.
@ElizabethGS I agree its not normal its crazy! :))) And these toys hmmmmm for what? The end of this video is OK! :)) Last few seconds! Let say I am not a fan of Sonny Terry. I like Sonny Boy Willamson, James Cotton..............Jasson Ricci! chugging and whooping are ok, but only like a part of some song! Its my opinion!
@ElizabethGS I know who he is!!!!!!! I am a harp player too, not so serious as Mad cat!:)))) But in this case I dont think its music! TRhere is no melody! Sorry! Only HI tehnical stuff!
...but in a very cool way, mooseyfates....wierd in an awesome kewl way....this kind of odd stuff works for me....but then I am kind of wierd too, lol...
