I really missed the days like the early 2000's when there were multiple football games. There was the NFL 2K series, NFL Primetime, NFL Gameday, NFL Fever, Madden, Blitz, and Street off the top of my head. Some were sims and some were arcade style. There was choice. We didn't know how good we had it. At this point I honestly don't think EA will change anything. So hopefully we will see another developer or multiple developers in the a great football simulation game.
We won't. NFL don't want competition and EA are quite happy earning $5 Billion-a-year. Why do you think EA doesn't bother to have their dev team (which is also entry level btw) innovate or add anything that the consumer-base wants? Why do you think every NFL (primarily sim) game you mentioned died off? NFL didn't want Madden (a legendary name) to compete and possibly lose out to a game that didn't have a Legend's name on it. If NFL really wanted competition, they would never have offered an Exclusive License to (American) Football games.
Considering what they did to Star Wars? Yeah no... that kind of ownership is too good for EA. They need someone who actually gives a fuck about the consumer in the first place to take over. Not a corporation that already has a monopoly in every other media form.
If anything that would guarantee the NFL continuing the exclusive rights deal. They salivate at the idea of partnering with a global conglomerate that has massive crossover appeal and casual fan reach like Disney. If that sale actually happened it would make the current state of sim football gaming 10x worse.
Wild Card Football has more promise going for it than anything EA has made since Clint Oldenburg came onboard with Madden. The only thing that EA has made since the agreement was signed that even comes close is either Head Coach 09 or Madden 12, but I'd still argue Wild Card has more promise than both given how one game didn't get another installment and Madden 12 ended up going backwards the second Clint came onboard and started work on 13. The fact that an arcade football game with NFL players is showing more promise than anything the only NFL licensed game has ever come up with should be infuriating to the NFL, but they probably won't do anything about it since Madden still makes them money with microtransactions. That's why I still say we need to get someone higher than the NFL involved at this point.
The thing that kills me is the people defending EA... Why are you making excuses for this company that has consistently made a stagnant, buggy mess of a product over the past 10 years... What are you doing???? We are trying to improve the game and you are giving EA an out to continue doing this!!!

I once led the league in interceptions with 30+ and I thought I was terrible, but the reality is, the AI ball hawks every single pass and rarely if ever drops a pick. I doesn’t matter how open the WR is. The DB’s will somehow make a play out of nowhere. Game breaking.
@@Ayo601i play regs pretty frequently and a lot of people use the dbl saftey go play, then audible to coverage so the safteys stay in the box. and by in the box, i mean not a single defender deeper than 5 yards off the los. now in real life that would be terrible because you’re susceptible to play action and getting beat over the top. But the reason this is ok in madden is cause the safteys are able to locate the ball while bailing to depth. Its honestly the dumbest thing. middle third defenders or cover 2 safteys bailing to depth are able to track the ball while not looking 😂.
That's because they really don't need to because plenty of people buy the game every year. I don't even think Madden Is their top Game when It comes to their priority as a company. I could be wrong but I think they care more about FIFA and UFC even though their deal with FIFA was done last year. Madden Is just a side hustle.

Dude, it's unplayable because of it. Guys will be 10 yards open and suddenly a DB on another player, facing a different direction will 180 and jump the route. You can throw a lob pass and somehow it will short where the DB can easily intercept it. WR's don't toe tap on the sidelines.
I usually do this ALOT in every sport game, and man I gotta say in the past few years these games have become unbearable to watch!!!! The worst is 2K and Madden, but Fifa isn’t to far behind the afore mentioned games. I remember being able to boot up PES 2018,2019 and able to watch such beautiful display of Futbol(soccer)! Gone are the days where the CPU actually have awareness about what’s going in the game. Such a joke to see all these graphical improvements,all while lacking in gameplay and authenticity!
Currently playing 2k5 for the first time. It's kinda hard because it's got different controls than madden but it sure as hell kicks the hell out of madden.

This type of thing happens to me at least 3 times a game. Incredibly glitchy things that burn me and only get me furious. I cant enjoy this game at all recently. I really liked the game when i first got it about 2 months ago but now its unplayable without freezing, and super glitchy things happenening. Not realistic at all.

The game is selectively made for $ more times than not, they actually target kids. If kids are buying they don’t care. I think of it like apple who adds new features that could’ve been done years ago just to be able to have a new “feature” to talk about and “release”
I can't stand the DBS and SS blitzing on their own in my face of the franchise, it's bad enough that my computer offense can't score . I have to get 2 pick six just to win .

The worse thing about it is the passing, You'll have a WR wide open and for some reason The QB will ether over throw the ball or underthrow it so the defender can swat the ball, The defensive will not cover their zones ether or the Db will decide not to cover the Wr in man coverage. Like they wont even follow the Wrs.
I was JUST thinking this earlier. Like, EA has no concept of the QB arching the ball when they throw it, to reach the receiver & the DB has no chance to make a play on a ball that is currently arching at 30 feet in the air. But according to EA, the DB’s just jump outta your TV screen & make the interception or deflection. It’s ridiculous
Also their is way to much hang time when a QB throws a long pass and the ball moves to slow in the air on deep balls, It feels like the QB Is punting the ball with his hands when he throws a deep pass Instead of the ball moving through the air like it would it real life. @@HaruhiSuzumiya93
I remember when SGO did overview on the first long shot and they were claiming this was superstar mode we wanted, and I told them this mode was gonna be QB only with a predetermined story, they argued me down and ended up being wrong. I still remind them to this day about it

Should point out how they tech screwed people this season. There isn't enough xp once again to finish field pass. So what did they do instead of giving more xp objectives or 2xp they allowed you to buy a level for 450 points up to level 50. So 5 bucks a level times 50 are you kidding me. Mut Champs is not competitive anymore. Its just a cp farm and done same with h2h and solo battles don't even get me started. Limited solos making yoy do the most while getting the very least. Solos aren't rewarding neither is online play

Random thought and not sure if you've done one of these yet, but ever notice how Madden doesn't even have SIMPLE defensive principles like Defensive Line Twists and Stunts? Basic stuff you see multiple times a game. Madden fails on so many levels.

Another complaint I have is these new cover athlete players they aren’t in packs that you can acquire just from playing, no no, you either have to spend $20 USD for a pack and not guaranteed the player you want or spend hundreds of thousands on coins in the auction house this is such a fucking rip off
Ryan, the only this that will matter that will have a lasting effect on EA Sports is this, their game (Madden) has to have a negative effect on the bottom $$ for the NFL. Until that happens I’m not to sure things will change. Even if EA Sports comes out and says “make it or break it year “.

I want madden to be good so bad and every year the hope fails it’s almost as if it gets worse. And it sucks because it visually looks soo good! I remember playing madden 94 or 95 as a kid dreaming about it looking real but the gameplay was on point… ugh imagine good gameplay e nearly lifelike graphics. One can dream. Ya Moody.. it's bad bad brother. I can't do it anymore. Skipped 2013 to 2020 but came back and game needs patching but gets worse and worse. Almost like it's purposely done by EA.. Madden 25 won't be purchased unless somebody buys for me.. EA is sad excuse for a company. Patched the game and dropped catches and interceptions are worse after it. Respect to the guys who continue to play this game.
You made a great point, these other football games aren’t perfect but we are so desperate for something different that we rate these other football games higher than we would years ago. I still play nfl 2k5 and Backbreaker cause even though they’re not as flashy and updated as madden, they are fun as hell. Madden stopped being fun and a lot closer to an arcade game than a simulation game.
I don't understand the nfl's obsession with exclusivity. Stop giving 1 corporation total control. It would be cool to have some healthy competition and get some real nfl games on the market. EA is a dumpster fire too. I believe they're trying to get all their games to essentially function like the Sims and the constant $10-$60 purchases. If a small indy game developer had the chance to simulate the nfl experience, I bet it would be better than anything EA could ever put out. I recieved a refund for this game. I love Madden Football but this game is terrible. I was so pissed I requested a refund from Microsoft I have xbox they gave me my money back because I didn't play the game long.
Facts , I finally put the best to rest last night . Only reason I played it is because I have absolute love for the game & madden is the only “ sim “ game that we can play but it’s far from sim , it’s a bona fide arcade game. The NFL needs to drop EA just like Soccer did.

EA care about this young generation of MUT players more than the ones like myself thats been playing it since 92! I understand you will cater to the new gen of players but the old school guys helped get you where you are!
The problem is animations and no real physics involved they don’t want a good game because we will keep it, mod it and never play a bad one ever again.

Wish I kept up with madden news I told myself that this year would be better but I still wanted to wait for it to go on sale before I could justify buying a madden game in general yesterday was my first day playing the game and by the end of the day I realized it was literally madden 23 (I have 400 hours in btw) one of the biggest things they have needed to work on since even 2014 was blocking but every single year they would rather add a whole bunch of animations I’m just gonna get tired of anyways I’ll definitely keep up with the madden news next year cause this might be the last one I buy even though 23 was the first one I’ve played since Barry sanders was on the cover.
don't get me wrong, Wild card football looks like a fun game i would want to buy, but its seem to be missing things like 1.creating a player for your custom teams like SMB and 2.cpu vs cpu which imo, cpu vs cpu or spectating a game should be a given in ANY team sports game that comes out today even if its arcade even if its indie, Yes its a niche but some of us would like to have simple pleasures of watching the 2 cpu teams battle it out with each other. you know just like watching sports on tv but with a more arcadey flair and excitement. and not just in a sim environment like madden or nfk2k even with teams and players of our own creations. Not only that, some would want to run a cpu vs cpu league in the game too if that was a option offered in season mode. meeting Niches like that also contribute long term Replay value in your game.
Loving WCF atm reminds me of Nfl street 2 Be nice or edit the teams more like the kits etc make it more nfl ish as not feeling team Prescotts blue and yellow etc but hey it’s more fun than madden to imho 🙌🏻
Wild Card Football is just a better experience in terms of enjoyment. Now the offline or bot games are even programmed worse than Madden but the online or Dream Squad experience is better than Ultimate Team and stuff.
The more I watch the real NFL, missed tackles, players taking obscure tackling angles,receivers bating balls upwards like volleyball players all the time to defenders, just overall awful game to watch (ie it feels scripted)the more Madden looks like simulation football.
