Imo online friends are fake friends. Only 5-10% of them are going to be real and you're going to make a good friendship with them and one day meet in real life but it's a pretty rare occasion tbh(had a lot of experience with having online friends in discord, skype). Some might even exploit, manipulate you which is the worst case scenario. I'd say it's better to make friends irl and don't bother spending your time with online friends. Don't forget that online friends can just block you and start ghosting you for no apparent reason. With irl friends you can understand a person by his emotions, face expressions and etc.. literally it's 100x times better and doesn't require you to sit at your monitor for hours. With online friends you can't even tell who's on the other side of the screen. Most of them are just temporary friends to have fun. IRL friends are cool even if you don't talk to them for a long time and once meet each other it's going to be awesome and you're going to go somewhere and talk about what has happened in your life or your new goals you achieved. With online friends they might be even angry at you that you don't waste your life being a discord mod playing games 24/7. Maybe that was too far but honestly had a few online friends that said similar thing to me. Some online friends might not even care about you at all and only listen to you because they want free discord nitro or other things from you which is so gross. With irl friends it's easier to tell who the person truly is.
I have had a friend online for around 7 years, I haven't found anything manipulative about them, and we are planning on meeting up soon. Guess I must have gotten lucky.
What? Tf are you on? Obv depends where you're hanging out and same goes for irl ppl. They're still ppl behind a screen and if you get along well and become friends so be it. Don't gotta bar ppl from becoming your friend just because they're online even if they get along with you well
@@sebisonic Hell nah. I've already wasted so much effort, time, mental health and money on them. I was always thinking that everything was my fault but the truth is that no it wasn't. I don't need to ruin my life again with them or social medias. I'm extremely happy with my IRL friends that aren't fake. You be you but I'm just sharing my opinion to make some people rethink if having online friends is worth it or not.
