Proud Filipino here. A typical Filipino gathering does not always have lechon BUT will definitely have a platter or two of lumpia! The most common of which is lumpiang shanghai. Yum! 🇵🇭😋
Lumpias are spring rolls, NOT egg rolls. For one, it doesn't use egg roll wrappers. It's wrapped in spring roll wrapper. You'd think as Filipinos, they'd know that basic info. LOL!
You're correct! I think they're trying to explain to non-Filipinos but confusing others in the process. Definitely NOT egg rolls. The wrapper has no eggs in it. LOL
Correction: Lumpia is not an eggroll because the wrapper does not make use of eggs. It’s plain flour and water. This is the reason why the texture is crispier and lighter than American eggrols after frying it in oil.
