I'm pretty sure the guy who got turned into a dog ended up going to work for them I don't know if he was their accountant but that was probably part of his job
angel whispers I never really thought about it till now but I think you're right, pretty sure he did work for them in Ghostbusters 2. Plus the first one kind of indicated the actual Ghostbusters were maybe not the most responsible with their money, there was a whole thing about how they bankrolled the business with Ray's money from selling a house he had been left by a relative, but then they bought the fire station (which was trash, but Ray bought it pretty much just for sliding down the fire pole) and blew through the rest of the "petty cash" before Peter could take Dana out to dinner.
I had to explain the ghost-job scene to my niece and nephew. Nephew (glaring at his mom and dad): What's that lady doing? Sister: Your uncle can tell you. Me: What, seriously? Okay, thanks. Um, she's tickling his feet. Niece : You don't have to take someone's pants off to tickle their feet. Me (with NO pause): You do if they're attached to their shoes. Nephew: That doesn't make sense. Me: Hey, I didn't make Dan Aykroyd's pants. Given the circumstances, I think I nailed it.
Watching that scene with my young brother and sister was veeeeeeery uncomfortable, can't believe that made it into a PG movie. We all just awkwardly laughed our asses off though. I'm gonna assume they didn't understand what was happening. Least i hope so. lol
@@XRebelRenegadeX The rating isn't surprising. Ghostbusters isn't extreme enough to warrant an R reading, but it came out a month before PG-13 was even introduced as a rating.
Greg: "Me and Dan Aykroyd basically cut from the same cloth." Dan: "Aliens and ghosts are real and among us right now, buy my sub-par vodka in this glass skull based on the true stories of the crystal skulls." Me: ". . . Yeah, no. Literally the same guy."
@@e.hanker193 cause Dan aykroyd was fed supernatural since birth ain't no way he was gonna sell that shit with out putting supernatural in there some how where talking about a family that according to Dan held seances for dead family frequently
Red Letter Media's take on this was Hi-C Ecto Cooler mixed with Dan Akroyd's Crystal Skull Vodka, and they called it "The Ecto Bender". EDIT: paleo steveo corrected me below. It was apparently named the "Ghost Bender".
ThrobbinHood I think they brought it back for female ghostbusters or Mike just walked in there drunk at the HI-C factory and just said ohh nooooooooooooooo
@Aj Baalman Well it wouldn't necessarily need to be super thick as the Ecto Cooler is based off of the Ecto Plasma that Slimer leaves behind which as you can guess buy his name ecto plasma is slimy.
Remember Rick Moranis’ Louis Tully became a night school lawyer in between the first and second movies and represented the Ghostbusters in the sequel. I imagine his accounting business was still a side business for him as he genuinely seemed to enjoy it.
@@andrewamann8855 Ah, but he shows what was put in, at a distance, which means that while you can try, you are never gonna be sure that what you made is what he did.
YES! Make it moderately complex and try to give the most vague but still accurate tasting description possible. WHILE DRUNK! Last shoot of the day, LOL!
Re: Louis Tully considering he snagged a law degree to become a tax attorney between the original and II, chances are his CPA business did, in fact, fall apart thus necessitating the career change.
I work in retail, so I have a decent insight on people's buying habits. They buy an obscene amount of soda, aka sugar water. I am not kidding, I've seen a family of three buy over five liters of mountain dew, coke, and some others. I asked and it was for the next "week or two". Like daaaaaang
I served this as one of two signature drinks at my wedding in 2019. Just reminiscing, thinking about making it for an upcoming party. I had to come back and say thank you again, Greg. 🥰
Yes Greg! Starting off Halloween Season right. Also the Ecto Cooler lines up and matches perfectly with the hula skirt in the background which is double awesome.
There are a few nods to Belushi in the IDW Ghostbuster comics. Early in the series Ray keeps seeing a ghost who looks like Belushi from Blues Brothers.
People still drink liquid sugar beverages: Kool-Aide, Soda Pop beverages, Etc. Also I love the bite/kick part of strong booze ALSO PLEASE MAKE TRASH CAN PUNCH EPISODE!!!!!
When I was a kid, ghostbusters back in its peak, my grandfather bought me a vhs of the other version of ghostbusters with the ape and was heavily disappointed during Christmas thinking I got vhs of my favorite Saturday morning cartoon. Living with that scarred memory of a live action scooby doo knock off made me question did it even exist or was that a jumbled childhood memory. But hey a new way to drink my favorite trade able lunchroom beverage of choice *now with alcohol* while playing the new ghostbusters game
Such a fun episode! Thank you for this. My best buddy was 100% into it, as he collects the non-alky version of Ecto-Coolers as habit... and he love booze, so yeah. this is a double-win for him!
Dude, when that "other" GB show started I dropped my plastic fork, eating lunch at my desk, and almost passed out. I used to watch that show and I loved that sequence!! Holy crap, I haven't thought of it in decades. Well played sir.
This unlocked some old memories.... because I remember that Ghostbusters cartoon from deep down within my subconscious.... and I remember weirdly liking it as a kid? But I only remember the theme song...
I’ve been heavily inspired by this show amigo. I’ve been really working on making my favorite drinks REALLY well, and learning how to drink REALLY well lol. Keep up the great work.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!! When you mix the drinks, it’s so beautifully filmed- the way the light catches the glass, the ice, and the liquids is so pretty. I don’t drink, but this channel is just so much fun. Thank you.
OMFG If any rando on the street had walked up to me recently and said, "I'm Spencer, I'm Tracy...", I would have - as I did watching this vid - involuntarily finished the sentence, ".... I'm Kong!". Deep cut, Titian. Cannot remember the GB series beyond that intro jingle, but Larry Storch & Forrest Tucker were slumming it after "F-Troop" went off the air, and I watched every episode of F-Troop as a child. Wow. Binging this channel is awesome. ("The end of the Civil War was near, when quite accidentallyyyyyy.....") Warm, comforting, internet...
OMG, I remember that original Ghostbusters cartoon! I remember being confused, but I didn't know it was based on a live-action version 🤔 but seeing that skeleton elevator thing brings back some memories!
I always wondered why the Ghostbusters cartoons had such a shift between seasons. I mean I remember thinking that they seemed like two different cartoons; now I know they are. Mind blown.
It's actually super common for films, even wildly successful ones, to not turn a profit. A lot of Hollywood accounting allows the higher-ups to pocket the profits through the use of "external corporations" that handle things like distribution, marketing, etc. Since the external corporation is essentially an extension of the production company, they can keep all the money to themselves by elevating the costs associated with making and distributing a movie. Many people end up cheated out of their residuals because of this, and that's probably what ended up happening to Scheimer.
OMG GREG, you and I are kindred spirits! (pun intended) "Ghostbusters" is one of my all-time favorite movies and I also do cos-play!! I'm definitely going to try this drink! Keep Bustin'!
Holy crap.....I remember the Ghostbusters vs the real Ghostbusters but I had no idea the whole backstory... Great info! Also when ecto cooler came back I bought 4 cases from Amazon and just drank the last one about a month ago... Can't wait to make this one!
I remember Citrus Cooler, it had a white label with some cartoon Eskimos and an igloo. The color was this almost luminescent green which I have come to call nuclear green.
Bill Murray was Peter in the movie. However, the guy that voiced him in the cartoon also voiced Garfield in the cartoons in the 80s and Murray voiced Garfield in the movie. Kind of a cool circle, huh?
Another great video. Also, another 80's kid here and I know I've seen that other ghostbusters cartoon and it always confused me as a kid why it was so different from the concept of the movie! On another note, my kids were probably 10 and 12 when I showed them and they both asked what the heck was going on in the "ghost-jay" scene. Yeah, so that happened.
The story you told about hollywood accounting happens to a lot of films - which is why no one ever takes a percentage of the net profits from a film. Also, I was pretty sure I imagined that other Ghostbusters show. Crazy!
It's less an issue these days as far as I know, in the 80's it was rampant, a few big stars sued and got paid, and bookkeeping practices have somewhat improved. Eddie Murphy I think was the real high profile case.
Buddies and I got crazy one night making our own drinks at a friend's make-shift "bar" at his house, and one of our originals was called Ghost Buster. It was a sickly green color, and consisted of mountain dew, Kraken Rum, and a couple other things none of us can remember. It tasted like fruit juice and you couldn't even tell there was alcohol in it (there was A LOT of alcohol in it)
