I think for the consumer that has had very little experience or exposure to AI since early last year, this would be incredibly impressive and even mind blowing. They definitely feel like the target audience here. I was a lot more impressed by the pixel 8 launch and execution of that, which made me CONSIDER actually upgrading from the pixel 2 XL (yes, insane I know.) Sure, I could still see myself upgrading to the pixel 9/XL (glad you brought the XL name back btw), but it almost has me just wanting to wait until the pixel 10 (or might I say, "X"? 😏 XL) Anyway, this whole presentation felt very "blah" and even rushed to the point where it didn't feel intimate enough with the audience, even the audience in person. A lot of information was just vomited out at once without any time for the audience to think about, reflect, process, or just respond at all. I'll say, that really made all of the "high points" that Google probably thought were a big deal, seem lackluster and boring by the way they were expressed and communicated to the audience. Of course all of this doesn't help when leaks are constant leading up to a Google event. Get this under control and things might be a lot more exciting the day of. These are some pretty passionate thoughts coming from me and I usually don't comment much, so I hope it's seen and actually taken for constructive criticism that could help in the next launch. I mean it's Pixel X for goodness sake... Please let it be done the best it's ever been.
Good job team Google for being the first phone manufacturer to have the big and small Pro models with the same hardware and software apart from screen size. This is what consumers have been asking for, for years. The phones are expensive though. But it is not just pixels pushing the price boundary though.
14:00 the overly excited scream after the demo was successful was odd. It reminds me of when there's a sign during a live audience sitcom to tell people to applause.
I'm glad the pro is the same as the xl, much better for people with small hands. My reason for not buying is now just the price. Guess I may buy the 9a whenever it launches
I already wanted to return to Android after trying my luck with iPhone. Pixel 9 Pro has me wishing my iPhone degrades faster, so I have an excuse for a new phone 😂
The way that presenter handle the AI hiccup was great, very quiet and public aware, also didn't bring the feature down with any negative remark. Great demos ahead for him!
@@joan38 I guess you are exagerating a little bit, nothing is too much. Android as any other operating system is comprised of thousands of components, to expect it to be perfect or throughly designed and implemented is unrealistic. Let's just enjoy our devices. But hey, one thing is to enjoy and the other is spending 1800usd on a piece of technology...
As an iPhone and iWatch user, this presentation got me so hyped!!! Google is doing amazing with the Gemini AI and the Pixels, Pods and Watches…. Sheesh!!! I am tempted to give my iPhone 14 Pro in trade in to buy one of the Pixel Pro, buds and a Watch…💪🏾🙂🔥
Is anyone else shocked that Google used Samsung S24 Ultras for their initial Gemini demo? I also wonder if those are their own personal phones which would be even more telling.
No, at MWC they made also use of Samsung phones to show the newest Android functions. They know that the performance of their devices is not top class.
13:53 How did your s24 ultra not open the gemini app for this query because whenever I try anything on gemini it never stays in this pop up window it always opens up the full app then answer the query. I amnhoping this comes with an update later
I sure hope Google is putting in a lot of money and time to improve Gemini. It has insane potential, but it's still not as strong as other leading AI, and I feel like that's because it was initially rushed.
It is sort of liberating to not have a presentation about how fast a cpu is or how special the hardware is all the time. I like the Google way of focusing on "What can we do for you?". Software and services Looks great, I do worry however that some stuf will be removed in a near future. Google have an unfortunate history of creating great services and the just quit them. I really like their vison though.
Does anyone really love Gemini? They talk about it like it's supposed to get me excited, but it's really a compromise because it's the Google Ecosystem.
@@AdamOutler Pay for it? Hell no. What I like about Gemini is it integrates with all my smart home tech seamlessly. If it was a paid service then I'd choose something else
@@cooliipie exactly. People love ChatGPT. They use Gemini because it's there and it's free. It's a big experiment from Google and claiming they're going to integrate it with all these features of my phone makes me more apprehensive than excited. Eg. I switched from Gemini back to Assistant because my alarm clock can't perform Assistant Actions with Gemini when my alarm clock goes off. Also your home automation works just fine with Assistant. I really have no use cases for incorporating Gemini. If I want an AI, Google home's Knowledge Graph has become garbage, Gemini is really inferior, so I choose ChatGPT.
Exactly. People pay for ChatGPT because it's good. People will pay for Gemini because it's embedded in all systems of their phone. I really don't like this new Gemini paradigm at all. It's not the best AI and it's being crammed into every available nook of the pixel.
Hey Kyle, Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you today. I miss your smile, laugh, and sense of humor Can't wait to see you again soon. Love, Brandi Mahogany
As an Gemini Advanced User from Germany, i don’t understand, why Gemini Live is only coming in English to Android Users, not to Google App for iOS Users in German.
The "Add Me" feature is pretty cool. Interesting stuff overall but I won't use Gemini because of their AI art generator DEI filters. Get woke go broke.
What we really want is complete privacy and to get rid of the search bar in the home screen. Also, could we get a discount on youttuve subscription if we have a pixel?
I'll wait for the pixel 10, this is more of a feature update than anything else. As long as I can get everything on my 8 pro I'll be happy. I feel like it would be silly to exclude something as simple as "pixel screenshots" just because there is a new phone. seems to void the claim of 7 years of updates if they don't give us the newest features (That they can. I understand not getting satellite so stuff.)
Can we say "Hey Germini" to use the Gemini AI now.? (I prefer saying "Hey Google" to start the Germini AI instead)... Of all the features they have been talking about since, I feel that is the main reason why many people are yet to switch to Germini and it wasn't addressed. The voice command feature allows me use the AI when I can't touch my phone or my phone is out of my reach but I can speak to it through my Bluetooth headphone.
So after 1.5 year, my pixel 7 went all black/dead. I tried all possible ways to start it. I tried contacting google customer care for help, they said you have to courier it and it will take approx 2-3 weeks even more. So I went to some local shop, he found problem in chip ya tensor G2 chip. Finally after a week I got my pixel 7 back. Thank you for creating such a wonderful processor, phone and after sales service. One of a kind. Google❤
If you're going to be having a live demo, why didn't you use the pixel phone? Secondly maybe things go badly in these live demos because there is hundreds of reporters using Wi-Fi and maybe you should have a dedicated Network? Thirdly if the live demo fails there needs to be a backup plan of showing when it did work how it looked.. yes not ideal but you can blame it on a bad internet connection and show them what it looked like when it worked well with a good internet connection
Guys don't get trapped in this one. My Pixel 8 Pro has everything that I need. Plus im preey sure that ina couple of months we will get the same AI that the 9 series has. Google always do that with their Features Drops. So relax and enjoy your day
Trapped? No one will be trapped. The majority of consumers upgrade every 3 years to the newest device. A lot of 6/Pro/A users will upgrade this year because it's time. Personally, these phones look wayy better than the 8 series, and the satellite service is a must for hunters in the woods.
@@OhImKiCkiN The majority of consumers which are teenagers and Young people, change their phones every year. That's why big brands like Apple, Samsung and Google, release a new phone every year, because people buy it. And personally I love my Pixel 8 Pro, plus all those "services" like the SOS signal , I'm pretty sure that it will come to other Pixels in a future "Feature Drop"
@@keyboard5494 I'm sure the 11 will be better than the 10. I'm also sure the 14 will be better than the 12. Of course each year is better than the last. If you think that way then youll always wait and never buy a phone. From the Pixel 7 to the 8 there was barely any change made. At least this year there were more significant changes.
@@OhImKiCkiN You, don't get it. Apart from the design, the Pixel 9 series is not significantly better than the Pixel 8 series, which is why the new purchase and the associated price increase are not justified. You have to somehow hallucinate the alleged significant changes. With the Pixel 10, there is a chance that there will perhaps be a significant improvement because the manufacturer will be changed and the Tensor SoC will really receive a significant new development. The Pixel 9 series is once again just a very minor upgrade, that is completely overpriced.
@google my Pixel 4 XL was the best phone I ever owned and the speakers/sound was incredible. I now own the Pixel 7 Pro and while I still love the Pixel line I have to say the sound quality of the speakers on this phone is garbage and painful to listen to. Have you upgraded the speakers on the new Pixel 9 line?
