Hike on the closed path at the Ruinas de Sao Jorge. The path past the ruins to the Ponta de Sao Jorge starts at the bay of Calhau de Sao Jorge. Shortly after the ruins, the path is closed due to the danger of falling rocks. Those who dare to avoid the sign will be rewarded with a fantastically beautiful tour. Of course, it takes a bit of courage, because the path is no longer maintained. Passing a few broken-off spots and over bridges that don't inspire much confidence, you follow the sometimes very narrow, consistently exposed path along the coast. Small waterfalls and a jungle-like section also have to be passed. At the end of the path you come to the Ponta de Sao Jorge. But here we stopped the hike, because shortly before the old pier you have to master a completely broken-away section at a height of more than 10m above the surf on makeshift secured ropes before you can go to the Ponta via the little confidence-inspiring and partially broken pier . Here the risk of getting injured (or worse) was too high for us, so we turned back, even if the view at the front of the Ponta is supposed to be phenomenal. But just see for yourself!
