Madeira's Story 

Madeira is so beautiful and loving. Pigeons get such a bad rap for being vermin when they're not. I've rescued a few sickly ones and given them some dignity in their final days. They are lovely birds. 🐦

I cry all the time when I watch this video...poor pigeons being treated so badly by humans. Wish I could help them all to have a happy peaceful life.

Years ago me and my father found a pigeon who needed help and couldn’t fly. So we were looking after him on our balcony while he recover. One day he disappeared but was coming back always when there was a storm. ❤️

I found a pigeon under he bridge in one of my parking lots one night 6weeks ago. I asked him if he wanted to come home with me and he took a couple of steps towards me, so i scooped him up and brought him home. Ned was about 5weeks old when i found him, now going on 13weeks and thru the first molting and can fly short distances. I never in my life thought i'd get adopted by a bird. Pigeons have individually unique personalities, but are all hardwired with serious Attitudes! Ned is soooo Cool!!!

I rescued and raised one in March. It took about a month for him to finish growing up and getting strong and confident enough to take off on his own. He still drops in once in a while. There was another very nice healthy strong blue bar who'd been my friend for about 3 years. A very fine clean handsome looking alpha male. I call him "Buddy". He was and still is totally awesome. He crash landed in my yard one evening 3 months ago with a badly broken wing and a huge gaping hole where his right eye used to be. Somebody had kicked him in the side and flicked a cigarette into his eye. Words can not express the anger I have for anybody that would do such a cruel and cowardly thing to such a fine and beautiful animal. God is merciful to me and to the piece of shit who did this because I didn't see him do it or catch him in the act. I'm going to take care of Buddy for the rest of his life and keep him as comfortable as possible, but nothing riles me as much as cruelty to any kind of animal. It's about the lowest form of behavior humans are capable of.

Thats basically our story too found a baby pigeon hand feed him until he was old enough to eat on his own. Now 2 years later we still have a pigeon living with us like one of the family the bird goes everywhere we go.

This is sooo awesome!!!! Me and my husband found a baby pigeon two weeks ago, raise him and sunday we released him (I supose is a he, for his behaviour)...He was out all day, hanging around with the others and at dinner time.....SURPRISE!!! He came back!!! I've rescued a lot of pigeons, they come at the window to eat, but they are wild... This one, not! This evening we were came back from work, we let the window open, of course and he was here :>) Is the second night he sleeps with us, I think he is feeling safe with us, because we love him so much.... Maybe oneday he will go away, live his life and abandon us... I don't mind, as long as he is happy :)

Love the video. Pigeons will become very tame if you rear them by hand.i used to race them. But just keep them as pets now my oldest is 15 years old and very tame. There very loyal and love there home.

omg this is so beautiful , i love to rescue pigeons that are in need we rescued few of them, sadly one died but it was nothing i could do .. someone forced the poor bird to eat corns, that cut his beak and he wasnt able to breathe , eat or drink and sadly he died :( but in general its nice to help , sometimes it can take a week or a month and you can let the bird fly outside freely again when they are healed .. they remember who helped them and stay close by and visit often .. from my experience 😄 sorry for my bad english

Pidgeons are very smart and beautiful birds, that is why every time there is a Pidgeon(as I get speckled doves in my backyard a fair bit) that is in danger, I get them out to fly to freedom, doves have always been a symbol of hope & peace. I aim to prove ‘em right.

Oh I actually saw some of your videos before but didn´t associated it was Madeira *_* Now I see your story with her here. You done so well!!! great video, one of the best I have ever seen. Oh you put her to live along other pigeons in a loft, well done, there she will socialize. But don´t forget you must be present a lot in her life and visit her very often, pigeons bond for life and she has special love for you since you raised her. Wonderfull Madeira

Ive a turtle dove we found her after she lost her mother Shes almost 4 years now She follows me wherever i go just like the pigeon She hates my daughter😬 Whenever she saws her she fly over her only to say i hate you or she will run after her..my daughter teases her a lot but without harming her🥴 She flutters her wings and coo whenever she sees me to say here you are mom i love you.

My grandma had a dove like that. he was a runt and fell out of the nest, she saved him and took care of him for months untill he finally learnt to fly. He would come back every day for a meal. The other street birds would peck him and push him all the time so we had to scare them away so he could eat since he couldnt fend for himself. One day after i fed him, he flew away and never came back. rip Gregor

my eyes filled up watching ths , I have a bond with pigeons and a story , they know who truly loves them , and they all got their own personalities , I love them so much , and wish one day stupid people stop seeing them as pests , they have every right to this earth as humans do , they just want to live like every other being , they so intelligent , and loving if you befriend one of hundreds lol, I adore them.

This video made me almost cry. I raised a pigeon too this year and it's just amazing to see how those birds grow up. I loved my bird but unfortunately he's gone now and I don't know where he is or if he will come back next year. Take good care of your little baby and protect him/her.
