Unborn Turnip Too long a story for here, but the nutshell is that she lived with me for a week when I was a 23 year old Seattle musician/engineer in 1975, to kick heroin, cold turkey (unbeknownst to me at the time!). This was long after her two albums, when she didn’t have a deal, people were forgetting about her and after a car accident, she was in pain pretty much all the time. She was a unique cauldron of conflicting characteristics - profound wisdom mixed with questionable decision making ability ; ambition with self defeat; cautious attention to detail with reckless abandon; raging anger with genuine sweetness; strength and weakness; hope and bitterness; and always that crazy talent.. @Don Fatale My experience w/her was that she had either a piano tune or a guitar tune and didn't ever cross over from the instrument for which it was written, at least that I ever saw.. Definitely glad she's being remembered! Didn't get nearly the credit she deserved; some brought on by her own difficult personality and some just because that's the mercurial nature of recognition..

i mean...i don't even know what to say to that. if anyone were to ask me what song could not be covered to the point where i'd be pleased in any way with it - it'd be this song. i am super impressed and beyond the pale floored. the phrasing is perfection. totally had me at hello. be very proud of this.

Just stunning. Best cover of this exquisite song I've ever heard - and there are some very good ones out there. The arrangement for guitar is flawless, your voice is pure, strong and sweet, and hits every note dead centre. Brava!

Madison's guitar chops are on great display here, in her very interesting arrangement on fingerpicked electric guitar of this beautiful and timeless song by Judee. Her voice, as always, is mesmerizing. Very well done, Madison, you are an accomplished musician and perform wonderful and unique renditions of all the songs you choose to play, sing, and share. Madison, I didn't think the original could be improved upon. I was wrong. Your voice is sheer magic on this cover. It's such a delicate song and so many vocalists would "over-sing" it with a bunch of showiness. It requires your sense of vocal fragility. Brilliantly done!

1:30 this version reminds me of some of the melodic shapes in Liz Phair’s Exile in Guyville which leads me to wonder if Liz had been influenced by the music of Jude Sill. Anyway this is a beautiful version of a truly beautiful song

A few times a year I get chills listening to music when I am moved to deep deep satisfaction. This version of this song gave me chills twice, both on the first listen. Madison quickly arrives at a deep place and then stays there, fully occupying that land on the whole journey.

Hi Madison. I saw you perform with Amos Lee last Sunday in Toronto. You are freakin' amazing....I thought at first that you sound like Sheryl Crow, but better voice (sorry Sheryl); and it was clear early on that you are a fantastic innovative guitarist and writer. The tones you get from your voice and guitar are also superb. I really hope your name gets as big as it deserves to be. BRAVO!!!!!

Wowser! I am at the age where all my main musical influences were from the 70's, a decade where we were for sure spoilt for choice. To be honest I had all but given up with the latest generation of mostly mediocre copycats and then .. I saw this. The voice of an angel. I have learnt many things throughout my career but one that sticks out is, regardless of one's technical level, the most important thing is you either "get it" or you don't "get it". As a bass player an example of that would be Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads. Her technique is what some would call basic but what she does with it moves me every time. Madison .. you get it. This is beautiful. Thank you.
