For those who may not know Madison Payne comes from drag racing royalty. Her mother is Top Fuel legend Shelly Anderson Payne and her father is Alcohol Funny Car and Pro Mod legend Jay Payne. Shelly's dad, Madison's grandpa, is also a legend Brad Anderson.
@@klausschlobluvsmesometwood4679 Amazing how time flies! Shelly was one of the blondes that Kenny Bernstein used to say gave him hell. She and Lori Johns had Bernstein's number.
Legendary Family vs Living Legend. No question this truly was a historic, and legendary race. Congrats to Smoke and Madison. Smoke, you will get yours, in time.
Congrats to Madison, great race and to outduel Tony Stewart is impressive. Tony tried his best, sometimes it just isn`t your turn. Congrats to Tony and his team.
That win was by such a blip in time that you can’t acknowledge it’s passing. That was a win faster than a blink of an eye. She won that one on reaction time. Wonderful job by that young lady
Kudos to Tony, he had the performance advantage all the way! A reaction time .001 better would have won the race. What a great race! Congratulations to Madison for the win and Tony for the performance.
Imagine being that young and your first win is against Tony Stewart! It may have been his first event but to beat a legend like him for your 1st win would be epic
Excellent racing, congrats to both teams and drivers, and congrats to Madison for her win that victory is sweet and she definitely earned it, good job Smoke get em next time. And thank you Nitro Alley 👍👍👍👍
Very, very impressed that Tony made the Finals. He put on quite a show all weekend and beat some stiff competition to get to race a legacy racer in the finale. The NHRA has become my guilty pleasure once again…
Congrats to Madison Payne, Shelly and father Jay. Your daughter is a natural it's in her DNA . I grew up at the drags helping my family run a comp. Elim. Dragster and watched her mom tear everyone up. That was always my dream to get in the car but it just didn't pan out. I can only imagine how this feels for the whole family. Enjoy this moment you can only get the first once. GREAT JOB!!! 🤩
Awesome race! That is tight! This is a win she will never forget! It's too bad they don't include TA on the televised piece, that's competitive racing. I think Tony scored some street cred points this weekend too. I'm actually surprised but then not at all. But I don't think he'll be disappointed much and probably happy that if he had to lose it was to Madison if anyone.
There are some finals that are won in a puff of smoke, but THAT was a race. 0.0002 mov is wild. Cant be mad with a race that close. Well deserved and props to tony.
I agree that the lowest ET doesn’t always win, but this wasn’t the typical hole shot win. She did leave .004 sooner but Smoke was already ahead of her at the 60’ mark. Based on the time slips, he was slightly ahead the entire length of the pass until the 1,000’ mark where she came around him. Even when he was ahead though it wasn’t by much. I would’ve loved to see that pass from a car mounted camera looking at the other car…..I’ll bet it was insanely close!
@@TyTanium1294 you do realize the difference in their ET's was 0.004 right? In other words, the exact amount she beat him off the line. Had she been any slower off the line Smoke would have won as he had a faster run through every segment of the race. So again, she clearly beat him on the tree.
@@fatman123526 I think you’re missing my point. A typical hole shot win will have the slower car ahead the entire pass…in other words, they gap the faster car at the start and the faster car just isn’t able to run them down. This is not what happened here. They actually passed each other….Smoke passed her early, and she passed him back at the end. Look at her mph, she clearly had a faster car on the big end.
@@TyTanium1294 The margin of victory matched how much she won off the line. Sure she had the higher mph, but if they had matching reaction times Stewart would have won based on the times.
Congratulations to both of you ,,, Madison I watched your grandpa Winn the 1985 fox hunt at LACR in California then I watched your mom race too, and your Dad the famous Jay Payne , And Tony Stuart Ive watch you in indyCar others in NASCAR for all those years ,,, and now we see your rookie run as a top alcohol dragster pilot 2 o r thousand of a second , wow nice drag race thank you both praise Jesus Christ grace grace grace amen 🙏 thanks BigAl California
Treed AGAIN.. lol.. seriously...great race and congrats to Madison and Tony both... to her for winning and adding to the family legacy and to Smoke for a DAMN fine showing in his first real competition in NHRA!!
That's one thing about NHRA I still like, any given Sunday at any given race. Tony did a good job. Just come up short at the end. But some rookies don't make it as far as he went. Kudos my man!
And don’t forget Brad Anderson is the legendary BAE hemi manufacture Brad Anderson enterprises and I watched him at LACR in palmDale California 1980s I think it was a red funny car Shelley and Randy were there Shelley just was walking around being pretty and helping out with the car very beautiful blonde , her and randy always together back then nice memory’s thanks BigAl California.
What an awesome race! One of MANY good close races today. At first I was disappointed that Tony lost, but now that I know who Madison is I'm happy she won. That's what Tony has done for this class, he drew more attention to it. Great job by BOTH teams!
INSANE finals man.... 0.0002 is just NUTS to think about at the line. hats off to BOTH Teams, Tony for being ice cold and handling it like a legend he is, and for Madison for just being as Cool to the touch, glad to see racing family STILL doing their thing!
Man I hate that I couldn't attend! I drove past the race track on the interstate during one of the runs! I was wrapping up a vacation. I want NHRA to come to Memphis!
@@3-2-1-. I don't watch all the time but I just want to attend an NHRA race weekend. It's been a while since I looked at the season schedule but going to a place like St Louis would be reasonable. I live in the Memphis Metro area. Now if Nascar and NHRA did a Bristol double header, count me in.
In NASCAR, my favorite driver was always Richard Petty. When he retired, it became Kyle, and from there it was supposed to be Adam. So I didn't get to really cheer for that third generation in a Cup car. It's nice to see it happening in a dragster. I cannot wait to see her in a Top Fuel car. With that said, it was just too much to hope for to see Stewart win a Wally in his first-ever race weekend. He'll get one sooner rather than later.
I seen that myself and noticed Madison didn't have any......Your probably right that that was just enough ( .0002 ) for her to win.......Nonetheless it was a great race.
@@longsleevethong1457 Ok, Gutless Wonder... you know that he was criminally investigated for that incident, right? That kid did the dumbest move you can make on ANY race track... INTENTIONALLY WALK DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF CARS. Keep telling yourself that he intentionally killed that kid. The law didn't see it that way, and neither do I.
Love to see her at Eldora in a outlaw wing sprint then the fun begins I bet my boy RICO would sling some mud and dirt on em great job smoke and miss Madison 👍
The best part was that they made the point to focus that he was beaten by a girl. A-holes! She did very well, from a family that does this all the time. So much respect to her. Please though...
