Deep loss throws shards, Depression, madness in veines Sure u good? Yea, I’m OK. that’s the point of view. say yourself, or just listen: who dont like to dance on strips that fit whats left to lose? Nah, Don’t have to sit stays hurtful everyday, was already here Loss in the DNA, Life grinds, sounds trivial
Also, this is Four Tet arranging stuff that madlib gave him Kieren Hebden AKA Four Tet: A few months ago I completed work on an album with my friend Madlib that we’d been making for the last few years. He is always making loads of music in all sorts of styles and I was listening to some of his new beats and studio sessions when I had the idea that it would be great to hear some of these ideas made into a Madlib solo album. Not made into beats for vocalists to use but instead arranged into tracks that could all flow together in an album designed to be listened to start to finish. I put this concept to him when we were hanging out eating some nice food one day and we decided to work on this together with him sending me tracks, loops, ideas and experiments that I would arrange, edit, manipulate and combine. I was sent hundreds of pieces of music over a couple of years stretch and during that time I put together this album with all the parts that fitted with my vision.
Love how after the first break at 2:16, it goes back to the first pattern but quickly switch to the second one (layered guitar riff), that unconventional Madlib feel. Those who know will understand!
For anyone interested, cymatics is the study of visualizing sound. If you have the right medium, and then play a sound, the frequency and other characteristics of the sound can make the medium vibrate in a specific manner. This can then be visualized by putting metal filings or sand or whatever on the medium. Not 100% on any of this; I’ve seen it done but never researched it before. If anyone knows better feel free to correct me.
While there are less and less things we can count on in this life, it's a blessing that this man and his friends keep putting out audible (and often visible) enjoyment that we are lucky enough to be able to access with a few button presses. Modern day Mozart right here Rip Dilladog
Shoutout to Four Tet for actually arranging all these "ideas" into songs for us to listen to. And also the amazing mastering. For those of you don't know, this entire album was Four Tet's idea.
Thanks for this! It explained why to me it sounded so much like Four Tet, despite having that lazy, boom-bap Madlib feel. Saw Four Tet has arranging/editing/mastering credits but wasn't sure what the kind of split was with him and Madlib.
This has Vibes I can't really explain its beautiful in so many ways it gives me the feeling of freedom and being trapped at the same time just a masterpiece from madlib thx for this man, and RIP DOOM❤️
I was listening to this new Madlib joint yesterday, lovin it; then today I notice it's part of Madlib's whole new album?! Rolling one up and enjoying it.
I love your work. Been a fan since I was 18 all the way back in '03. My condolences on your recent loss of your friend and collaborator. May he rest in peace with all the other wonderfully creative and diverse souls that he now resides with in the pantheon.
dope; carefully constructed hip hop, not necessarily just for an emcee but possibly with the right artist a commercially killer track. salute to Madlib.
