If you want to hear Madlib talk about Prince, the importance of doing taxes, the death of his Quasimoto alter-ego, collaborating with Kanye West and his love of industrial music, you can watch the full lecture here... ► ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DXkPPnVUm2E.html
Madlib said he loves listening to the new album. Im guessing its been done for years but they never released it as he said "people have too much expectations". :/ i just want to hear the album even if its not as good
He’s clearly talking about “the continuation” of Madvillainly. Sounds like it’s been done and won’t see the light of day because people complain about everything (and it’s “dated” according to him), so it’s easier to not drop it and catch flak for nada.
@@bagsotr maybe, I think DOOM cared about music most of all tho, and also developing his character through his releases. So it would make sense for a posthumous album to come out. Not sure tho
Bhargav Chavda Dont be a dick. Because he doesn’t personally put it at the top of his own best of all times albums, you don’t have to make a jackass out of yourself and throw a Lil Wayne album in there implying his taste is commercial.
@@skywalker14 in an interview DOOM said since the creation of Madvillainy they created a lot more stuff and that he wants the world to hear it once all the technical stuff is sorted out. I hope Madlib will release it all
@@aidanmca4177 well that sounds a lot more positive! i hope he release it too, because I just love his Madvilliany project, although I was introduced to his music about a month ago.
100% accurate. In non-music i think of something like Rick and Morty; it's actually a really good show but some of the fans are some of the most insufferable people I've seen.
What's crazy to me about Madlib, is that despite how phenomenal so much of his work is, and how strong and definitive his style is, he still never ceases to continually evolve. Madvillainy might be my favorite album OAT, but he had very noticeably grown as an artist in the time between Madvillainy and Piñata. The beats on Madvillainy were more hard-hitting whilst being absolutely groundbreaking in their use of samples, but the beats on Piñata were significantly lighter on the ears, as far as the drumming went (generally speaking), but the use of samples was so much more nuanced and complex, it was so much more elegant and beautiful compositionally, yet they both had a distinct flavor to them that signified Madlib's touch. Dude is absolutely mind-blowing. Easily the best producer out, and there's a lot of great ones, but when you hear beats like Robes and Knicks it's crystal clear.

bang bang you’ve gotta understand “freestyle” can, and did in the early days, mean multiple things - “free from style” or “off the dome”. It does best to know the culture before you sound off.
I love the process they kinda just left each other alone and each one added something to a song and came out with a great project when there is no pressure is when the best music gets made
It's often said lightening rarely strikes twice but with these 2 i am a firm believer that they got what it takes to even outdo the 1st project. Creative minds such as these don't need fan opinionated perceptions to guide the direction of their music. You can't tell an artist how to paint a picture same way it'll be absolutely absurd for 1 such as myself to tell these brothers what they should create to cement their legacy.
DOOM is still so underrated. Listen to what Madlib said, DOOM would wake up and just create over those beats with no direction, engineering and recording sessions himself as well. You can't imagine how hard that is to do when the result is something like this masterpiece.
Legend!!! Been a fan since tha Lootpack era, yo thanks to Tha LIKS aka Tha Alkaholiks. One of my fav was the rare version of the joint "Bottle Rocket". 90's Underground til infinity.
Madlibs sample and sound selection is so unique.... super underrated. Most slept on producer. We gotta give this guy the flowers while he can still smell them.
Madvillainy might be my favorite album (from any genre), and a follow up might tarnish it's purity. Shit's classic. On the flipside...Event 2 wasn't much of an event...but it doesn't tarnish Deltron3030. Maybe lightning will strike twice?
typical fanboy comment. You would want something authentic coming from them..and best not if it isnt. Thats why we love Madvillainy because it was authentic and spontaneous.
People... I am people and I love yo shit. Rest in power doom. Only dirty sound in our time. Stands out and makes y'all legends not only for that reason of course.
Madlib is half of two incredible duos, responsible for two legendary albums. Champion Sound; as a part of Jaylib, with J Dilla. And Madvillainy; as a part of Madvillain, with MF DOOM. Dilla and DOOM are both gone now. Damn.
Sometimes the "FANS" are their worst enemy 🤦♂️... They put too much pressure on their favourite artist till they make the artist feel Insecure in their craft and then they just don't release any songs or albums because they don't want to disapoint their "fans" 🙄😔...
That’s literally the worst news I’ve heard in a long time 😭😭😭😭😭 fuck what these other niggas talkin bout I just want another Madvillain collabs y’all can do whatever tf y’all want with it it’s gone be fire end of the day
Nuttin shrooms and dirty analog in the red volume like DJ Quick . Analog has that third and forth Harmonic distortion if I remember if not blame the shrooms lol
Madlibs got a point. Madvillainy 2 would probably suffer the same fate as Deltron 2. Some stuff just shouldn’t get sequels even if we think we want it.
This true speaking on the people expecting something but really it's just freestyling and something happens, more or less it'd just be more songs and we all know that Madlib & MF Doom are both good for it so now problem :)
I understand exactly what he’s saying. We should get use to the fact that there’s a small chance we might never get the album. But I get what he’s saying by it’s just more songs, I fucken love that shit because that’s all I want. that’s all it is (other then a masterpiece No doubt) but nowadays climate.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yeah most people do have not only expectations but great big expectations. Boloney.
Pretty much how i always imagined the collaborative process worked between the duo... 🤔 Rest Easy Metal Face DOOM The Vaudeville Villain (fka) Zev Love X 🙏 From KMD to eternity.
I had a different comment that I deleted because I wanted to retract that statement. If they release it, good. If not, then it’s still good because then their first project retains its specialness. Although I do find it interesting that he’s continued to collaborate with Freddie Gibbs. Is Piñata better than Madvillainy?
