Think you know all there is to know about Madonna? A new exhibit of never-before-seen photographs shows the star back in the early '80s, before her first album had come out. Even as an artist-on-the-make, Madonna displayed all her trademarks: the signature style and a bold attitude. We recently visited the exhibit Madonna NYC83: Photos by Richard Corman at NYC's Milk Studios, which is open until Dec. 15. Photographer Richard Corman filled us in about his life, work, and that fateful Lower East Side shoot with Madonna - and and revealed how strange it was to recently revisit the exact apartment where they'd done that fateful shoot 30 years ago.

Ive seen all the photos he took of her, amazing, she’s beyond stunning, im in love with the photos. Theres some where shes posing with a blue broom, and shes so georgeous!!!! She could make anything look good any setting, her face and bone structure is so unique you literally cant look away, thats that star quality she had. That we all fell in love with!!!❤️u Madonna

Despite the blighted environment she lived early on in NYC, her innate beauty and charisma glowed in these photos like a diamond in the rough. Her Mid-Western upbringing, smart instinct, high IQ, ambition, drive for her artistic passion gave her that inner strength that shielded her and her talent from being stunted by the harsh inner city life by not succumbing to drugs, alcohol, despair and worse. This same ability to navigate through challenges and obstacles will sustain her throughout her iconic career. Put simply, she’s gifted and blessed and fate smiled on her and the rest is history.

Wow I wish I was able to see that exhibit. Madonna is just so captivating. You can’t take your eyes off her. Uninhibited and so raw. She had charisma, confidence, ambition in her face - she was destined for stardom.

Amazing photos of an incredibly beautiful Madonna, especially her cat eyes. Is there a book that went this exhibit? I moved to NYC in 1986 when Basquiet & Haring were still around. I think Madonna moved to Soho by 1986. The interviewer was wrong. think Madonna's first song came out in 1983; Like a Virgin in 1984 and she sung at Live Aid in 1985. She rose to stardom at a stellar speed of 2-3 years.

Madonna siempre fué muy amiga de la camara, siempre sale radiante, guapa, bella y con mucho estilo, y en esas fotos de ella antes de ser famosa, ya tenia algo especial, era bonita, con lindos ojos azules y bonitos rasgos faciales, boca, sonrisa...además de esa mirada tan sensual, sexy que le fluye tan natural y espontanea...me encanta esta mujer!!
