listen to this only with headphones or in your car alone!! and go to a place where nobody will bother you ...like the Delaware water gap? in winter where you bundle up and breathe in Crystal air and look up....up to the sky and smile ...or dance. spin around with a blanket over your shoulders...feel the music try not to fall
i hate to say it but her voice diminishes most of the music. She had an amazing team writing songs for her and she mostly just played a character in the media.
The movie "At Close Range" got me here..the beginning and the middle and end has musical snippets of this song and I knew it sounded familiar from when I was a kid..
this is so how I've always love to see Madonna, mature, sophisticated, growing, an nothing to prove, she doesn't need to hang with the young crowds ever, now why there are not many acoustic versions to her hits, got no idea, she's got plenty of em
I concur although I feel this track was much better suited to have been included in the Like A Prayer album since it was just a mature heartfelt deep personal type of record in matching versus in being the in Pop album True Blue-And CHERISH should have been switched over as well. Just my thought point of view.
Suxcess Love Madonna's version-descibes the movie to a T! But listening to 55min version of movie score, in its entirety...🔥🌌 I have to listen because its haunting my brain.
Sencillamente excepcional. Sin palabras para describir lo que se siente al escucharlo con los ojos cerrados. Madonna no es solo Madonna, es la musica que la acompaña.
my favorite instrumental...just close your eyes put on your ear phones ..drown out the STATIC IN YOUR HEADS and light a candle in a dark room ..meditate on every note. like a Hawks wing stretching to turn to the left and then to the right. Just let go And LET GOD!
I wrote a script for a movie, its actually a drama/action film. Has some sick brazilian jiu jitsu and okinawan karate. I want this song in my movie. Who knows maybe, dreams can come true. I'm telling you the script is amazing with this musical tone omg heaven.
@Blahbevava I had read somewhere that it was used because at the same time, one of the producers was doing some stuff for Michael Jackson's Bad album, which uses the D-50, but of course, released in 1987. I know there's a remix to this song, so maybe that's what they're talking about. Other than them getting their hands on an advanced D-50, judging by the release dates of the song, and the synth. I would have to also agree it's a DX7. But who knows.
This is the version from the opening of the movie At Close Range. I just saw it and wondered if there was a soundtrack version of it around. And here it is😅
Why do people in the comment keep saying Madonna? This is made by Patrick Leonard, for the movie. The song "Live To Tell" was a collaboration between him AND Madonna.
Its the instrumental of a Madonna song .Its not Madonna playing it. THIS IS MUSIC, unlike the robot noise youngsters call " music" today. NOT Puffy, diddy, drake ect
Trilha sonora do filme.(caminhos violentos ) 1986 uma linda obra.de arte Uma das melhores músicas que eu escutei até hoje em minha vida ! . Filme maravilhoso . (" Duas obras.de arte ")
Joek, Thanks for the reply. Without the music, you have nothing except the lyrics, i.e., no song. Any number of good female vocalists could have sang this song, it's like Don Felder of the Eagles who wrote the music for Hotel California, Henley/Frey came up with the lyrics and pretty much thought they owned the song till Felder took them to court after they fired him and he one his law suit. My point is this……without the music, the song doesn't exist so I'll always lean to a real musician…..I just picked up The River by Patrick Leonard, some great instrumentals, good music doesn't always require lyrics…. Let's just say we both enjoy the song…..
Tito67024 Me as well!! It’s 1 of utmost best Musical hunting Balled to date. Love synth-keyboard work by Patrick Leonard . This song definitely reminds me of my childhood years growing up in south jersey
Beautiful, beautiful!! Madonna´s ballads are amazing.. all in the Something to Remember albumr: - Love Don't Live Here Anymore - Crazy for You - Live to Tell - This Used to Be My Playground - Oh, Father - You'll See - Rain
lawrence gateley Yes, it is. But Frozen is post Something to Remember (1995). Spanish Eyes is another amazing ballad from LIke A Prayer album & fit perfectly on SR.
As much as I love trance music this track has a special place in my heart as we played this at my friend's funeral. I've never kown any track that gets my emotions running as this.
theses are many instrumental music fragmented from the back in the scenes of the movie AT CLOSE RANGE, some one who made this track, put all together one together with the other and make this long version, but its not a one song, is a copy and paste for the movie background music, and is all thogether are like 8 songs, I mean 8 differentes versions from LIVE TO TELL for AT CLOSE RANGE
I doubt the DX-7 had much to do with these score cues (as well as the D-50 which didn't even exist). I believe there are several instruments involved including a grand piano combined with analog synthesizers. Analog were the "conventional" synths at the time, especially for these kinds of sweeping sounds. Look up copies of KEYBOARD Magazine from the time - Patrick Leonard had a regular column where he explains his musical approach. BTW I have another short cue from a promo tape somewhere..
As I told the poster 2mos ago, I read somewhere that a D-50 was involved but maybe it's on the remix I had heard of this song. But I do know a DX was involved. Yeah, I know analog synths were the norm' for the mid-80's. In particular, the Roland Juno which was usually used in conjunction with a DX until the D-50 became available for consumer purchase in '87. Is the pomo tape uploaded on here?
AFAIK: 0:00-3:40 Main title from the Best of Hemdale compilation CD (1991). 3:40-5:45 Film excerpt with faint sfx extracted approx 45 minutes into movie. 5:45-7:30 Possibly another extract from movie. Also check out Patrick Leonard's excellent promo CD "Music for Moving Pictures". Although it only contains one more unreleased cue (Murder), this music is very much his style, prevalent on several tracks on this beyond-ultra-rare disc.

Fantastic version.....years ago I pieced together something like this from the movie soundtrack, but this is much better. Wish I could buy it digitally somewhere, but I can't find it. Suggestions?
7:06 f on mouse... 2 minutes on.. Abbey in truck...3:02 HM is there.. Abbey on street...5:51 ends at limps after them... 641 ihadavisionoftheHS&theHM&allthisandthenthetitlecametome
Lmao I grabbed the real studio Instrumental ( without vocal and piano ) back when it was posted on RU-vid. It now has been deleted for copyright reasons. It's a shame as many like me need the stems to learn mixing techniques.
