The video footage of them falling in love is not from actual home videos. The father in the video is not her father. (It's the wonderful actor Danny Aiello.) The video footage of the father/daughter is *not* actual video of her actual childhood. I'd bet money that the house with the white picket fence was not a house she ever lived in. I'd also bet money that the pink panther doll was not Madonna's actual doll.
This song was incredibly controversial because it was about possibly having an abortion and was banned from some radio stations when I was a teenager. Also it was the debut of Madonna's new fit look and her peroxided short hair and everybody was like WOWOWOW

Madonna has an incredible discography. She's so underrated these days. Her music is so diverse, love how she started out as the club kid and here was even pulling off rock tinged music. Her voice sounds real good as well.
True Blue is jam-packed with classics. It took a long time for Madonna to get 'respect' as a musician/artist... People were dismissive of her for the first several years, but she's proven herself a timeless goddess through the years. You will find very few of her tracks that don't just completely blow you away!

Frozen made me fall in love with her music in the 90s when I was a little girl. I first heard it while I was waiting for my mom to pick me up from ballet, it was playing in the radio and I asked the secretary who is singing and she told me it's Madonna.

No, it was def about teen pregnancy and the stigma attached. It was quite a shocking song and video for it’s time, intentionally. Madonna has always liked to push the boundaries and question why we treat people a certain way, or why certain attitudes exist. That’s been her most consistent theme in all of her music- pushing boundaries.
Little trivia - the actor in this video, Alex McArthur, has spoken about how this video had an unexpected major effect on his career. He went on to star in 3 very popular "Desperado" western movies. It seemed like he was all over tv during the late 80s and well into the 90s. But I can't remember the last time I've seen him as an actor. Unfortunately, the only time I'm seen him in the last 25 years was an interview he did after his son was murdered in Oroville, California in December 2019. News reports noted that his son was a well-known cannabis grower and the shooting was related to a large drug trafficking organization. How terrible for him.

Back in the old days (pre 1980s), when a girl was pregnant and unmarried they would say she's "in trouble". There was a lot of stigma about having children out of wedlock. It was considered shameful, especially to Dads. Many a young couple were pressured into marriage because he got her "in trouble".

Every time I hear this song, I tear up. My mom had gotten pregnant with me, she was a teenager. I was born in February, this song came out in June of “86”. Yes, her friends did tell her to give me up, while my family supported my mom with me. My mom passed 11 years ago. I have my own family now, I know she would be proud of me. 35 and still gets emotional with this song.
You should check out her docu- movie called “Truth or Dare.” She opens up more than she ever did- Cameras follow her/ them around ...and one concert, the cops show up and tell he she can’t go onstage, due to her “provocative” performances onstage- you should really check it out- 🌲✌️✨

What you said about every song you hear of Madonna’s bringing something different is spot on. She’s been doing this for 37 years now and somehow it still works. I like the fact that she hasn’t ever stopped coming up with new concepts and ideas. She never rests on her laurels. An extraordinary back-catalogue of songs, music videos and live performances.
In the 80s, she was part of the Big Three. Madonna Michael Jackson Prince There were of course other acts but those three just sit above everything from that period.
Not sure you'd say they sit above everyone - Springsteen was huge then too. But they are all 3 born in 1958 which linked them. I lived through it and never saw Madonna as an equal talent-wise. I grew out of MJ and found Prince, who remains for me the GOAT. I also discovered Springsteen later and he is a legend. These guys all shifted millions of records but the talent and legacy is interesting to reassess now.
This is my favorite Madonna Song. Anytime a young girl gets pregnant out of wedlock and decides to keep the baby is a win. This song has a great message. Love your child even if they make poor decisions in life. Good can always come out of bad decisions.
This video never fails to make me cry. I’ve never been through what she sings about here, but the video really brought the message home and it feels like I’m watching a movie. The end is the best part. 😊

Summer of 1986. I had just graduated highschool and this video was on repeat on MTV. I could never watch it enough times. Her haircut and teenage look were so impressive.
Madonna showed the world how to re-invent themselves and or their product, goods, or services. She was the queen of re-invention. She demonstrated that thru out her career. An American Icon that people either hated her or loved her. So controversial in her day.
back when it wasnt celebrated to be pregnant and unwed. Great reaction and song and know times have changed some for the better, some not so much.... I really loved this era of Madona as she had some great songs and messages and the music was fun and kids could enjoy it without unnecessary vulgarity.
What an absurd thing to say. My sister had her child at 38 yrs old, lives with the father of her child and they're not married. They've been together for 14 years. A piece of paper means nothing. If they were _not_ meant end up together a divorce would only make a separation more painful. Thankfully they're perfectly happy as they are. And my niece is a happy teenager-to-be. Marriage doesn't make people better, commitment does.

The genius thing about this song is the play on the lyric "baby." The artistry is iconic! It's not really clear if the track is about anti-abortion OR if it's her just saying "I'm grown now and I'm gonna be with him." One thing is for certain......... 2 things can be true. Within a year of this song's release I had an unplanned pregnancy and I kept my baby. We made it through the nasty, bitter divorce. And now he and my younger adult child take care of me. I was a teenager. My son has autism and he's doing great. So proud of my kids. This song was my mantra. It always makes me tear up. :'-( became :-D And yes, Papa preached and I was suddenly no longer Dad's little guy.
YES! So great to see you enjoying this classic Madonna track. It was a big hit for her in 1986, but was also quite controversial at the time. People felt like she was promoting teen pregnancy, when in fact the song is really advocating the narrator's choice to keep her baby. It's a very catchy & heartfelt song with a powerful political message and the video, like so many of her best, plays like a mini dramatic film. I went through this @ 15. I had just turned 16 when I gad my daughter. She's a successful electrician today @32. I'm very proud of her. No grandkids from her( np) but I do have some from my youngest son, he's 26. And I also have a 30 yo ( no grands from him yet either lol)
