In the history of television, I don't think a studio audience has ever been this turnt. Even Oprah was beside herself haha. You can feel the energy in that room. A testament to M's singular talent for performance.
nah man this"best of crap" blows- this is her spiritual album- all the other albums had to happen for this too happen, Rebel heart, Madame X, amazing, so are other albums, ive always loved her current work and i dont compare....its as cohesive as "like a prayer", "Bedtime stories", each are gems, not to discount your opinion though bro
@@lamorosioriginals8216 she is not the best vocalist but her voice tone is one of the most beautiful that exists. She still can sing 4 octave songs so she is quite above average.
Mauro Hustmascher don't be silly. confessions is a great work but kylie minogue and others were doing that same sound and thematic for years. ray of light is madonna's most innovative and creative work ever
@@mauroizolirani8107 WHAT?! No way! You must be young. Blonde Ambition Tour was the peak of her career, she had achieved a level of mega-fame that was close to untouchable. People in crouds would stand outside of the hotels she stayed at and chant her name. Girls and women straight up dressed like her, you could go to any mall or any club and see straight up Madonna clones. It was nuts. That kind of fame and influence had never come from a woman in music before, she kinda ruled the world for a little while, but she's pretty much managed to stay ontop throughout her whole career.
I remember when this aired. I was getting ready to leave for work at a restaurant.. I was so overwhelmed and thrilled by this performance I actually called work and lied and said my alternator died and I couldn't come in. lol. I was too worked up to wait tables.
Ronald Washington HAHAHAHAHA so much hatred do you have with someone who is better known than you? Envy shows Rest garbage of person, because with that hatred and mediocrity that you have, it already shows that you are a madman obsessed with Madonna, since so much criticism, but you go to her videos Bye Bitch🥱
the way she walks out like she's a regular person, smiling gracefully, not under or overdressed, and the laugh almost at the end these were the best bits
All these years later, I remember coming home from work that day, dropping my stuff off, and turning on the TV right at the moment Oprah introduced her.....and 6 minutes later still standing there spellbound thinking to myself that I just witnessed something "not of this world".....and perhaps a historic moment in television history.....Wow. There will never be anyone like her- simply amazing performance.
I imagine this song as the anthem during the Big Bang when an explosion of billions rays of lights created whirling galaxies of stars hurtling into space, filling the universe, giving birth to our sun, the earth and life.
Can you imagine a modern Pop Singer today doing a live energentic performance like this solo without backup dancers on stage?! No! Madonna is truly one of the last great "Pop Stars" from the 80s left who can command a Stage Presence by herself...without backup dancers...like the newer Pop Stars do
@@naturalseduction8572 Why does everyone love Confessions so much? It's okay, but the best song was in the limited edition box set "Fighting Spirt," I think? That album, to me, is what American Life was to everyone else. ...Although American Life is one of my favorites, so it must be me. lol
@@nambypamby2147 Maybe because it's her only out and out dance record, from start to finish. I love Confessions, Get Together is one of her absolute best songs to me; but yes, I wouldn't refute you singling out American Life either cos it has one of her other absolute best songs ever too in the form of Nothing Fails.
@@fajarzakri4936 If you're into her older stuff, you should check out her album, "You Can Dance." (if you haven't already) It's kind of a greatest hits album, but it's all remixes and all of the tracks are connected, just like she did on the "Confessions" album (that's why I suggested it). Like I said, it's older, so the remixes are dated, but it's definitely worth checking out, if you like the old stuff.
I looked for years for a clip of this performance at this quality. This is Madonna’s best live vocal performance, bar none. Thank you for the remaster, Daniel!
La mejor Madonna, su álbum más logrado y que marcó el comienzo de la era electrónica a nivel masivo. Sin duda una fuente de inspiración para Cher y su álbum Believe
I will never forget how I felt when I saw this live performance back in 1998... you’re a Ray of Light to us Madonna! I adore you! I love you forever and thank you for everything, thank you for teaching me that with strong determination you can achieve everything in life and that love is the most important thing in life 🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️🔥🔥🙌😍😘👑😘⭐️👑👑👑👑👑👑
She was so amazing during this period. And the album so iconic. At her very very best here. And her hair and looks at this moment were her best and my most favourite. She was that ray of light!
Easily in her Top 3 live vocal performances of all time. The amount of euphoria and vocal bliss she exudes is second to none. When she sang “And I Feel...” WE ALL FELT with her because she took us there 💙
I was dating Madonna at the time. I was backstage, I'll never forget meeting Oprah after the show, she was so full of energy after Madonna's performance, it was very intoxicating.
Her voice actually sounds so rich in this performance, and that growl too! I never knew that Madonna could sound like this What happened to her voice over the years?
She actually said in interviews that she went through lots of training vocally for Evita and this was after that and that could explain why her vocals in tip top shop shape not in only in the studio but also live during this era
Cyndi lauper is in her 60s and she sounds amazing, Madonna stopped learning and probably didn’t keep up training the voice, if you stop exercising it ain’t going to work.
as a lover of pop spectacle, the "blond ambition" tour will always be my favorite Madonna era. but without dancers or theatrical costumery, this performance still manages to be her best; raw energy, wide-ranging vocals (this was the first time in her career Madonna fully understood the instrumental capabilities of her voice) combined with a deep connection to both herself and the audience. genius.
As a gay man myself I used to be a huge fan but lately she has been turning me off. Not to be ageist but I think she is too old to be dressing like a hooker. I watched clips of her latest tour, a lot of lip-syncing, very little dancing, the outfits look horrible on her & she is grinding her dancers at age 65 🤮
This is the first madonna song i heard when i was like 10/11 year old and after i got into wantung to know more about and how i fell in love with madonna and i still love her to this day 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
i remember when i first heard this song, i was deeply mesmerised with the whole song's arrangement - it feels futuristic. love it still after 23 years!
I was in Berlin where Madonna performed during The Celebration Tour last year and the energy with this song was sooo amazing. It was truly a highlight of this concert.
Wow, just pure awesomeness, you can feel her power, beautiful and strong💪 one of her best performances for sure. I never saw Oprah like that 😂, nice video to watch with all our current world situation, we all need a Ray of Light now. Happy Easter everyone 🐣
After Christmas 2021 this performance still has me spellbound. When u got it. U got it. And Madonna is a beautiful ⭐ star. I'm so glad I'm in my 40s. The music was the bees knees.
Ray Of Light (both era and song) are one of my personal favourites of Madonna. She's truly got everyone on their feet and totally fist pumping from start to finish! 2:04 - 2:08 Plus Oprah is having a blast! 😆🕺 This is my song to blast in the club if trance music made a comeback!
My favorite parts are when Ray of light starts at 1:18 and second part of the second verse at 2:43 and bridge at 3:20 and last part of the bridge at 4:36 and last part at 5:44 and ending at 6:07
