24 years later, and SKY FITS HEAVEN is still my most favourite & treasured Madonna track out of her full discography. The most profound, deep, and meaningful song (in my opinion). The lyrics, the concept, and the audio execution work in such harmony. It's sheer GENIUS!
It sounds like two or three songs layered on top of each other. People really do not give Madonna the accolades she deserves. They won’t appreciate her till she’s gone.
WTF ? It’s har best album and the most critically acclaimed and she is Madonna !!! How much recognition you need for her ?! She is literally a living legend
@@zaasfromparis she may have accolades but they aren’t nearly enough and you’re gonna tell me you don’t notice the way people dog walk this woman these days and in the past?
Co-wrote with madonna in relationship with Patrick leanord. Almost all of the people she produced with has said that Madonna's ability to craft melodies is amazing. Certain co-writers and co-producers clearly have a great symmetry with madonna: patrick leanord, Stephen bray, William orbit, mirwais and shep pettibone. They produced incredible music together.
Ive been a Madonna fan since day one. Ive got every album, ive been to every UK concert. Listened to this song more than 100 times, why is it now I really appreciate how bloody good this song is?. Amazing.. Great reaction, im loving what you do!
Great choice👍 this is the most interesting side of Madonna. When this album came out, this song completely blow my mind: it's corageous, really something new, futuristic soundscape. A trip.
Even today, almost 25 years later this album remains _original_ , _fresh_ , _creative_ , _beautiful_ ❤. And no other artist has even got close to this unique approach! *GREAT* reaction! I never made the connection between Sky Fits Heaven and Till Death Do Us Part. That was awesome! 😮😮😮
My all-time favourite Madonna song I think. A piece of art. I strongly recommend Paradise (Not for me) next. Just a beautiful melancholic song. When cold electronic sounds make you feel.
Talking of producers, Stuart Price did an incredible job of Confessions On A Dancefloor- what an amazing album, just filmed the reaction yesterday. Also I'd never heard of Bloodshy and Avant but they produced two of the best songs on there (How High and Like It Or Not). Lastly, how good is Sorry?! Why did nobody ask me to react to that one yet?
Can’t wait to see your reaction to Confessions. I think that album is the same kind of masterpiece as Ray of Light production and concept wise. Where Ray of Light is deep and spiritual, Confessions on a Dancefloor is mostly just a party. Back to here dance roots❤ Thank you for your reactions!
I LOVE these reactions! You have QUITE the ear! The Til Death Do Us Part/Sky Fits Heaven comparison is fascinating indeed. I think you're on to something!
Johnny this is one of the best songs on the album. For me this is where we head to another world. The darker half Of the album really. Although this song is incredibly light.
There is something really gratifying in watching someone listen and react to a song you love. You had a great idea with this channel, congratulations!!
Yes and then she could have stunned everyone, and performed the live kung fu version from Drowned World tour at the Grammys or VMAs. Would’ve been epic. She should’ve done it anyway. Not that Shanti-Ray of Light with Lenny Kravitz. Though he could have still played guitar for Sky Fits Heaven!
There are quite a few interviews floating around in which Madonna's collaborators discuss how actively involved she is in the creation of her music. At least until fairly recently, she tended to handle the lyrics and the bulk of the melodies (Stuart Price in particular commented on her incredible ability to be able to create a melody on the spot to a backing track he'd created - imagine her listening to the backing track of "Sorry" and just creating the melody at the microphone!). Pat Leonard has also spoken extensively about their work together and how they were true creative collaborations (he mentions that if a melody was suggested in a backing track, Madonna would work with that and shape it to make it her own, varying it and adding to it to suit her lyrics - an example is "Live To Tell" - the melody for "I have a tale to tell" clearly features in the music, but then she changes it for "sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well" - that helps to demonstrate her role in the process). She seems to be able to get the best out of anyone she works with. Your reactions are awesome! Thank you for sharing!!
Wow… You’re so on point with your melody knowledge and music in general. I love that you picked out these two songs and played those clips together. I live for content like this. You MUST react to Patrick Leonard talking about Live to Tell on RU-vid. He plays the piano and is so interesting to listen to. You’ve not lost me, I’m with you all the way.
Somehow, watching this, and hearing you, I have a greater appreciation and love for this song. Her vocals are angelic, the production is clearly and intricate, and I would never have thought there is a similarity with Til Death do us Part, but I heard it too!
What talk about this song? What about this álbum?Nothing to say, everything os perfect and fits perfectly, sound, melody, mensage, knowladge,a trully masterpiece
Till Death To Us Part is one of my favorite Madonna songs since I heard it as a child. I went to a Gothic Club in Portland a couple of years ago that played great songs and they were taking requests. Well that’s the song I requested. We left eventually. And I still wonder if they saw my request😆
One of my favourite tracks... And it seems +all my favourite songs are her collabs with him.. I really hope he's on the new album she's working on in the studio.. Its for her film.. U think and I think that's a really good call out from til death do us part.. Like a signature.. Now whether it's deliberate or subconsciously woven in.. His musical dna if you like, like you said.. But sometimes like Bowies work I feel there might be cypher, keys, and hidden layers to some of madonnas work.. She is so underappreciated as a lyricist and her melodies are incredible sometimes.. And very largely her iwn
I love your honest first time reactions. I hope you get to see this song live on The Drowned World Tour concert video. It was a highlight. (No spoilers!)
Also, Neil Tennant from the pet shop boys absolutely rates her as a songwriter. There has often been suggestions of the pet shop boys and madonna working together but it never worked out. I hope it happens because I think it would be an unbelievable collaboration.
@@jamiecampbell8855 I would hope so! Both make some of the best pop ever. I'd give the edge to Madonna based on what I know, but I haven't done a deep dove into PSB, just the singles. I loved them as a kid and still love them now. Opportunities is my favourite of their singles, or maybe Rent. Talking of mutual respect, Suede did a great live version of Rent with Neil Tennant on vocals, worth a search on YT for that one!
I really thought this should have been released as a single rather than Nothing Really Matters. Another amazing vocal performance for her too. Omg good call on that similarity 👏👏 I never made that connection but I did always find something familiar.
This, and Nothing Really Matters are my favourite tracks from Ray of Light. Madonna seems to have lost her way in recent years. Her best work was when she collaborated with Pat Leonard, William Orbit and Stuart Price in my opinion.
Great reaction! Madonna is my favorite artist and this and Confessions are my favorite albums from her. When you react to Sanctuary I suggest listening to Sanctuary and Bedtime Story together. The fade in/transition is iconic
I can hear a bit of similarity between Sky... and Death... I can surely imagine Madonna borrowing from her past work or demo songs. But for me when she sings "Traveling down this road watching the signs.." it bridges me to her song "Bedtime Story" (from the Bedtime Stories); a song that is the precursor to the Ray of Light album.
Fantastic reaction. Even the part where you researched what song this reminded you of. You do reactions like no one else does. I really like that. Cannot wait for the Confessions video.
I give credit to William orbit for this masterpiece cuz without him Madonna's music got crappy.. The only good album she did after Ray of light is confessions on a dance floor the last album I bought of hers.. After that and till today Madonna has been desperately looking for validation from other artists and doing so much collaborations with incompatible artists that made her lose touch with her old self.. (timbaland, Pharrell, diplo, some other rappers, maluma lol) all of them are trashy songs and albums.. Unfortunately Madonna is done
