This song takes me right back to the end of summer '92. A new girl moved into my apartment building, and invited me to a church youth group, and I couldn't come up with an excuse not to go. That night changed my life - for the first time people just accepted me, didn't make fun of me. Friends - the best things in life are always free! Flash forward 30+ years, and now I'm the church youth leader bringing together kids from many different backgrounds showing them that God loves them no matter who or what they've done. I think back fondly of Amanda and am so thankful for her and the time we had. I wish at times I could go back to our "playground" but know that time has moved on... Wishing you were here with me.

Fun fact. When asked to come up with a ballad for the film, Madonna was recording her fifth studio album, Erotica, with producer Shep Pettibone. The due worked on some ideas and came up with "This Used to Be My Playground" in two days.

I'm a 56 year old married man with a beautiful family. I've become successful in my field of work. I like racing, I like shooting my guns, and my favorite band is Rush. However, no matter what time of day...what day of the week...wherever I am...this song brings me to my knees! I have to struggle to compose myself when I play it at work. The song is so painful yet I cannot stop playing it. I cry like a baby when this song plays over the end credits of "A League of Their Own." Madonna has pried her way into my soul with this masterpiece. It makes me want to visit the baseball fields I played in as a youngster and drive through the parking lot of my elementary school. And, I'm melancholy, once again.

I agree. It says a lot on how chart positions are overrated and they mean literally nothing. Some of Madonna's most iconic hits are "Frozen, The Power of Good-Bye, Secret, Rain, Don't Tell Me, Beautiful Stranger, La Isla Bonita, Hung Up, 4 Minutes", one would think that they are all #1s, instead they all missed the top position. This song deserves more attention.

Songs like this are why I love her music so much. You are my people. She is the untouchable "it" girl. No Miley, Gaga, or whoever can touch the authenticity and bravado that is Madonna. Some come close (Pink!), but Madonna is one of a kind. She created her own lane. She did it despite who was biting what she tossed out there. Who stood up for her when the world despised her (or the music)? She did. Madonna has balls no man can touch (even Sean Penn). I wish I'd had an ounce of the courage she had to be who she came to be.

I am at this very moment. June the 8th is my mother's second anniversary. I am alone now and miss her tremendously. She and I listened to these songs including "I'll Remember". They were our last songs we listened to together before her passing. These lyrics do mean a lot to me and I am thankful to have these memories. Bittersweet emotions but I'm thankful to Madonna for writing these memorable songs. ♥️🌷

Me too, and it brings back some happy memories of my youth but more sad memories of time misspent and lost. I try not to dwell on the negative vibes it reminds me and count myself lucky, health, my amazing children and affection from my wife occasionally. That I try and stay positive and tackle one day and minute at a time. And cherish the successes achieved in those minutes and days.

Lucky that bradley cooper threw a singer in a movie about singing, as her career was completely dead and had been since 2011. She was awful in American Horror Story, playing herself and she played herself in the 100th time a star is born was remade. Let's see how she does when she doesn't play herself. I cried through the whole song... from August to October are the anniversaries of the deaths of my grandmother, aunt, and mother. All of them loved the beach. Yes it does, as we get older and more lonelier, this song plays so much in our heart. We reminisce about the good times, the days of joy and laughter, and fun. I grew up in Philadelphia, and I think I had the best childhood ever. I can't discribe how much I love this song! I cried many times while I was listening to it. This lyrics and her singing, it's painful to realise how life can be such a transient thing if you don't live like you want to, after all, we still can change, you can always change yourself. I saw the movie when it came out and this song was fitting. Man I miss my childhood of the 70s, 80s, & 90s. Growing up through those years were special and will never sadly come again. My dad served in the Navy in 1943 when the women baseball teams were formed and was in the Pacific and Atlantic during WWII. We lost him 4 years ago this month. I remember him telling stories of his time in the service, as a kid and how those were happy times for him, even though we were at war. I miss you dad, we lost you too early, still had time together, Rest in Peace and thanks for everything you taught me over the years, even though I didn't listen than!

The record company wanted her to do a song for "A League Of Their Own". Madonna worked with Shep Pettibone who co-wrote "Rescue Me" (which was released after "Justify", and before "Playground", to be exact 😉). As they were writing songs for the "Erotica" album they decided to write a song for the film. As the film came out in July 92, the single came out a couple weeks prior to that and "Erotica" was released in September 92. It's unusual indeed, but these songs alone show her diversity not only musically but also vocally.

Sorely underrated and rather forgotten song, which should be celebrated as one of Madonna's most beautiful performances. Somehow this song makes me sad and nostalgic, but at the same time gives me inspiration and makes me remember my dear long gone friends. Thank you Madonna
