She has never been afraid to say these are my friends and I love them. This was well before it was fashionable to embrace the gays. She and Elizabeth Taylor were throwing millions of dollars towards AIDS research in the beginning, when most people couldn't even say the word AIDS without flinching. This renaissance Woman is a hero, a Misfit, and a Lady.
Yes, I’m not a fan (I also use the term inspirational/admire/appreciate someones art, bc of «fanbehavior» & putting celebs on a pedestal, which I think is terrible) My point is, snyone that has watched at least some of her entertainment or interviews, knows she was one of the first maknstream celebs that supported & was inspired by LGBTQ+ culture & finding female sexuality empowering! I don’t like too much of her music (Get into the groove is a bop) & I don’t have the best impression of her as a person & she isn’t the most talented performer, HOWEVER what she has done for lgbtq+, female sexuality, generations of female & male entertainers/artists, no one can take away from her!! Also me saying she isn’t that talented dosen’t mean she isn’t a good entertainer, otherwise she wouldn’t survive this long in the industry or have an icon status (even tho I hate the pedestal, queen, king , princess, legend status). I hope ur fine, during the pandemic & all, wish you the best :)
Organic Love your comment rides on the premise that all publicity is good publicity - which I fundamentally disagree with. Many people’s careers have been dismantled by negative press. Given that, during the 80s supporting or being part of the LGBTQ+ community was looked down upon and regarded as taboo. Thus, Madonna’s decision to support the community, even when it was very unpopular to do so, was obviously done to support human rights. The publicity received as a result was an afterthought, but was also used to help advance the cause even more. Next time you make a comment calling people sheep, make sure you’re not the (ignorant) sheep yourself (: much love
@Organic Love Madonna has done a lot for publicity, that is true, but it is a fact that she was entrenched in the LGBT community even before she was famous. She was definitely a real part of the community even before she became famous. Her dance teacher, Christopher Flynn was one of her biggest influences and that part of her life predates her fame.
I've seen hundreds of Madonna interviews and this is completely genuine. She is honestly emotional in this. Will always love her for fighting for my community and others who have been marginalised.
@@samosler4009 you are the one that needs mental health because you're dumb Madonna is a dragman and that's. A fact only the dumb masses don't know this wake tf up
I am 35 now and this woman has been inspiring and motivating me for the last 20 years. There will never be another Madonna and its a gift. Irreplaceable token of inspiration.
There is something, a light in her eyes, very powerful. She has a very interesting aura and one can sense the sense of freedom that she transpires .....
When I was becoming aware of my sexuality in the 90,s, Madonna was my one and only friend who helped me make it through a wilderness of loneliness and confusion. Thank you Madam X for all your sweat and tears throughout all this years. 🙏🏼🦋🙏🏼
This woman gave me the strength to be myself as a young man. She showed me I was worth being loved and worth accomplishing my dreams despite society telling me I was less than. Thank you for your love and giving us a voice and respect ❤️
@River Rower how? She actually revolutionized music. So I don't get why you are here? If you don't like her than fine. We all have a right to our own opinion. But I just don't get people who watch interviews with celebrities on the net when it is clear they don't like them? Why watch someone if you really don't want to? I mean no one is forcing you to watch this.🤔
There are no words to describe her influence in so many areas. As a long time fan I am still discovering new things every day. She leads the pack, but she is still so far ahead of them that no one performing today will ever catch up. No disrespect to anyone, but her chart statistics are going to live through the current crop of those influenced by her. Her charitable work is rarely ever discussed and is not widely known, but it is massive. Why do so many wait until we lose the Michael Jackson’s, George Michaels, Whitney Houston’s and Prince’s to appreciate their work? We still have this legendary, iconic artist releasing new music more regularly than any of the aforementioned artists and people are telling her she’s too old and needs to stop. Older viable artists should give us all hope for ourselves as we all get older that we too have something to strive for and look forward to. Madame XOXOXO
Everyone of these stars who has had one successful album after another is part of the kabal music msm system based on sexualising everyone and selling it as 'freedom'; subverting family bonds and values which the atheistic industry abhorrs. Bowie, Prince, Dylan etc have been given fame , success and excessive promotion of their work and some of it was very very groundbreaking and meaningful at times. Were they happy? Doesn't matter now. No more. We will protect our children from suicide and self mutilation
Heather dear, I can discern for myself. You do not argue a point, you dismiss the information, and ignore the view I now have, after years of observation and interest. Np Many ,many others who have witnessed a tremendous amount of lies and manipulation by these shills in the last 30 years can see the destruction of the family that their forced 'globalist' propaganda slowly instilled. These over sexualised 'artists' do not offer any stability or love , simply anger, vulgarity and child abuse in favour of temporary hedonism which leads to suicide - mental or physical. This person had her day , sung some beautifully meaningful songs and embarrasses her older self quite often. Sadly , wiser people have been silenced in favour of the kabbal cage, but it is not working anymore I want more for my family. I want real values not subversion for attention.
Amen, Donald! What you’ve expressed is sadly very true. Why do we have to lose people to realized their value? Madonna has and always will mean more to me than words can ever say. Inspirational, legendary, and moving in myriad ways. Thank you for your astute comment.
If it wasn’t for Truth or Dare I wouldn’t have “come out” unashamed and proud like I did. Madonna and that movie enabled me to be me from the start and save lots of time self hating. Thank you 😊
Madonna sounds touched, maybe even a little tired... Just like any of us. That self parody persona that she adopted in her 50s seems to be dropped here. Beautiful interview.
Madonna is tired yes. Part of the game that she was playing over the years… She understand now that nothing really have changed trully, like many other people!
I wish that people weren’t so heartless. She truly is an advocate for bettering the lives of others. I just wish that the so many lives were never taken away.
@@jcrum417 Agreed. She really should have gotten it first. Bill Clinton certainly did advocate for LGBTQ rights but not until much later. Madonna was doing it long before it was fashionable.
And also she was let to speak and answer smart question, interviewers in the last decade asked her for guy ritchie, gaga, if she was old, about the grill, if she had surgery, why diplo, why maluma. Finally she answered smart questions and spoke herself out, like back in the 90s were she had whole tv shows to talk about her work. Hope those interviewers come back.
@@AM-js8fv You're so right! Journalists always strive for dirty laundry or "hot news", but they especially eager to know about Madonna's boyfriends, surgeries etc. and they don't actually care about art she creates. This interviewer is great, he prepared meaningful questions, never interrupted her and let her speak. Such a rare thing
@@katetempleton9669 like the interview with Jonathan Ross in 2003 about american life, a great meaningful álbum she only spoke about it like 2 minutes in the whole show, the rest was asked about living as a housekeeper in England.
What people don’t understand is that Madonna empowered us as much as the community empowered her and she experienced losses because of her advocacy… personal losses such as we all have when we come out. She’s a true sister. 💪🏽💚🙏🏽
I don’t know what’s up with this interview, but I almost cry watching this. She has talked so many times about LGBTQ, but this one is different... the tone of her voice, her facial expression, very touching.
I cried throughout the interview. I love her for everything she is and has done to better the culture and the world at large. She has progressed the culture through flawless music, entertainment, creativity, and an overall immaculate legacy for many decades.
@goldie silver Yes, for many people. Seems you have little knowledge on the different types of people who love Madonna . I'm a married heterosexual woman. Madonna's music inspired me to express myself and not repress myself.
I am DEAD: I got four tickets to Madonna's Madame X Theater Tour in Chicago. In 1985, some of my friends came late to the YMCA lock in sleepover because they saw Madonna's Like A Virgin Tour. Now, 34 years later, I get to go!
Madonna has been an advocate from day dot. She fought so hard for and with LGBT people. She is an icon and a legend in every sense of the word. Her heart is so pure, particularly when it comes to marginalised and persecuted groups. Love her so much ❤❤❤❤
When she gave a large portion of her concert earnings , I knew she unconditionally cared. When NO ONE cared other than our own community. She and Elizabeth Taylor were always our heroes. I’m one of the few alive , we are the same age, 60 , we looked and searched for someone who not only cared but showed it unabashedly. I believe Madonna s unconditional care for the underdog , the lgbtq community and anyone and everyone comes from the loss of her mom. Her compassion comes from her moms spirit and I for one will always adore her. Always. She lives a great life and omg, the music was and still is always sooooooo good. Love you girl , thanks for saving so many of us. I listened to her music for months after my beloved brother succumbed, she gave me hope.
@MysteriousME77 77 I met Madonna when she was pregnant for the second time with Rocco. I felt her stomach and I could feel the baby kicking. I also watched as she rubed cocoa butter on her stretch marked pregnant stomach. How do you explain this? LOL you people are crazy.
I love Madonna she’s a trailblazer and trendsetter thx Madonna for being unapologetically yourself and spreading love and empowering messages your so inspirational love my beautiful queen 👑 Madonna
People quickly forget how hard the ones before them may have had to fight, for what is considered normal or 'accepted' today. And the battle continues. "Never give up hope! Never give up". This interview was absolutely amazing. It was nice to see Madonna like this. And Madonna, Thank You!
Thanks to Madonna, I'm not afraid of who I am, I'm not afraid to show my emotions, my preferences, my personality... I just love her and the energy that she spreads over the people and that helped me a lot. I love her personality and her songs, she's just an amazing person who helps a lot to other people.
Madonna back in the day definitely was ahead of her time, she indeed was an advocate for the underdogs - BUT to be fair- There has been others like her even before her like Jane Fonda, Betty White, Judy Garland etc
...mdna...you're a beacon of hope in a dark unpredictable world....thank you for standing up and continuing the fight for change...i love you, mdna…!!!
Looking back at my childhood, she was the reason I had the courage to come out. There were messages in her music that deeply influenced me. Truth or Dare also made a huge impact.
DIETRICHCICCONE Thank you so much for that information!!!! Your wonderful 🌹 I’m sure I could never afford it but it’s really a great masterpiece. She looks like a beautiful painting while wearing it.
I remember the Like A Prayer album and there was A.I.D lettering added, (creating awareness). The year would be 1989 and the issue would be suppressed by social ignorance. So she spoke out then at a time there would be opposition. In the early years at the height of her fame she made this taboo known and a different light that of compassion and understanding. She truly deserving of the award. Change, don't be to cynical in what change is. One day it'll catch up and if there is instability to adapt then there's a gonna... mean to say "The world is your oyster, don't be afraid to take a look". Agree
Bullet for life, just walk with them Apple and ate. Everything you must from curtains and the nails you'd be dead but reality and it's better being drunk 🤣😂
Madonna is amazing she really is she fights for what she believes in and that awesome. I've loved her since I was really young, she helped me through a lot with life. I will always love and respect her ♥️♥️
Madonna in her songs and her voice have always been there as a way to comfort me, find inspiration and strenght creative vision. She officially my all time baby girl :)
Though my love affair with Madonnas music has been up and down, my respect and adoration for her personally has never wavered. I've lived through her career. I've witnessed first hand and always given credit to her for the unwavering support she has given our community. I always tip my hat to you...Lady M...💙💙💙
I watched many LGBTQ documentries to understand how much she has inspired and helped and paved the way for LGBTQ community, this generation dosent understand her struggle and work. We should be greatful fir such icon....... I recommend to watch "pose fx" series to understand about the history of LGBTQ community
She deserves all props because virtually no other entertainer including, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, even Elton John or Ricky Martin, speaks out on behalf of the LGBTQ community the way in which she does!
@@tula1433 yeah but no. That song was fitting for the LGBTQ+ community, so still awesome yes, yet it was fitting for so many other repressed communities as well. Great message, but never as focussed and direct as Madonna's clear voice for the LGBTQ+ through the years. She's definitely the ultimate LGBTQ+ pop warrior of the last 35 years.
I'm glad Madonna knows there is a market for ORIGINALITY & BRILLIANCE beyond American borders! Globally. They consider her a legend who once again shakes it up and reinvents herself. Beautiful girl😘😘
I'm nearly 56 years old, so Madonna was of my generation but until a couple of days ago I had no interest in her, and so I knew nothing at all about her. I now realise that she is me and i am her. We are the same, limitless love, and more fight in us than a wild cat protecting it's kittens.
it would be nice if She and Cyndi Lauper finally did something together... song or tv appearance ... it's odd that they have been at the same place / same time ... but never photographed together. I know Madonna is a strong ally .... but I feel that Cyndi Lauper has done so much more but doesn't get the proper thank you the way Madonna does.
@@RyanStorey1231 i think Madonna holds a bigger grudge than Cyndi does on her. Cyndi always speaks highly of Madonna and i find it odd (again) almost every interview with Cyndi .. Madonna is brought up in the conversation .. but with Madonna interviews; no mention of Cyndi. One thing that would be difficult to accomplish with both them in the same room working on a project; discipline. Madonna IS very disciplined. Cyndi is scattered. But both are very creative and passionate about their work. Definitely two worlds colliding.
Her eyes are so beautiful. Very striking. You can tell this is very heartfelt and emotional and genuine. She has become very soft spoken here and it says much to the love she has in her heart for the underdog and those who suffer. Wonderful Madonna. 🌹🕊🌺💋❤️
Wow 😲 literally astounded by the hate the 1st commenters put in just after the video was posted. You must follow her just to hate her! What a life for you. Where’s your head at? 🤐
@goldie silver the majority of these sheep will never wake up,although I give you credit for trying. I used to,and I still make the occasional comment but the brainwashing is strong and people are eager to worship these false idols..but honestly I used to love madonna too till I learned the truth about her.
@goldie silver that's is the NWO plan, but anyone with an ounce of discernment can see it. Its amazing really what happens once you take off the blinders and start to see the constant themes and agendas that are being shoved down our throats, little ones are being raised in this world of lies and propaganda that they want us all to accept.
@DANI S nobody's hiding and we aren't going away..if its easier for you to believe that we hate ourselves then go for it. I personally hate lies and hypocrisy.
I've been a fan since I first heard la Isla Bonita when I was 7! I've followed her ever since and she has inspired me so much. I would never have come out and realised who I am if it wasn't for her!
We're in scarrrry times & potentially looking ahead at a possible 4 more years of the same if they don't get it right BUT Madonna remains a beacon of challenge and hope. Well done lady!
I love her so much! By embracing our community, she really helped in my own awakening and I will never take that for granted. That's why now more than ever, I embrace her as other groups want her to go away. I want her to stay forever!
So glad she didn't end up like so many celebrities have like, Prince, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Anna Nicole Smith, Whitney Houston, Kurt Cobain, George Michael, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Judy Garland, Robin Williams, Heath ledger, & Freddie Mercury. So much talent lost so early. We are blessed to still have Madonna and she's fabulous at any age. Live long and prosper. ♥️
Her quote here…”bringing light to a dark place..” about her humanitarian work and advocacy for the millions of AIDS orphans in Malawi and Africa, I think, has been at the core of most of her life and artistry. Throughout her career, she has raised awareness, empowered people, spoken truth to power, challenged entrenched prejudices, ignorance and apathy on many relevant issues facing modern society. She’s a true and living Rebel Heart.
From the young kid who was bullied at school, felt unloved by his father and didn’t understand why. And, when older, and beginning to understand, felt completely alone and isolated, thank you for your voice, music and imagery and being vocal for the LGBTQ+ community. You saved many lives.
I’ve always quite liked Madonna, but I do accept people’s issue with her at times regarding her attitude etc.. but no one can deny the truth of this interview and how genuine those words are. This had me. Big respect Madonna, big respect. 🙌🏽
“Yep” ... my god ... she is demonstrating patience with these questions! This is fascinating. Her ballet teacher, New York, Keith, her dancers, these questions must so hard to answer after all this time.
The fact a lot of people become famous and forget who helped them become famous and Madonna did not! She basically saying the lgbtq helped me become me and in return I’m forever in there “debt.” (In a good way) and I will never forget that and will All ways help out. It’s not just saying okay I support the lgbtq it’s acutely doing something on a daily and not just during pride and Madonna shows that and she helped us as we helped her and that’s amazing!!!
I remember when I was 13 years old is when express your self started to come out in the 1990's and that song from Madonna made me who I am to day. It was a song of strength, beauty, and expression. Now that I'm in my 40's in 2019 I still go by that song and every other song that came with it I still follow her and envy her and bow down to her. She will always be the queen of pop.
Had to have been 2019. They talk about Stonewall 50th anniversary which took place in June of that year. They also talk about her song "I Rise" having just been released, which came out in 2019.
