Well this was not the video that was originally slated for this week, but with the announcement of the wrongful banning of the lovable pirate. I decided to upload the last games we were able to record while he was legal.
Who will take the bragging rights this week?
Will things get downright nutty, when Chatter fang makes his first appearance?
Can the Wanderer Cascade into a victory?
Will Pramikon prove that he's not just the best looking wall in Magic, but also a great commander?

So glad Hullbreacher is gone. The whole "if anyone had any interaction" argument can be said for literally the entirety of the existing banlist. Every single card on that list is no problem at all "if anyone has any interaction" Yet it exists. The banlist is also (mostly, looking at you Flash) geared towards non-cEdh. Which the overwhelming majority of players play. Whenever I want to play something like cEdh (powerful, fast, consistent), I just go play Legacy instead to be honest. But that's just my 2 cents.

I'm still unsure what to think about the Hullbreacher ban; but I disagree with your comparison with the combo kill with Chain of Smog. There's a big difference imho: the "Chain of Smog" combo, if pulled off, will instantly end the game whereas the "Hullbreacher" combo may or may not end it and when it doesn't it render the rest of the game for the other player miserable.

My comparison of the two is that just because the combo ends the game quickly doesn’t make it any more fun. The table does always have the option to scoop, if they don’t want to play through the lock or feel like they can’t get out from under it. I totally understand what you mean tho when they can’t close out the game. I’ve sat through games where someone spends forever making infinite mana and not have anything to do with it. It could be very annoying. Thank you for checking out the channel Cedric!

I feel about Hullbreacher the same way I feel about MLD's if can finish the game in the next 2-3 turns no problem..like my Kaalia deck, but if not everyone seems to lose interest. This is also the reason I don't play stax decks.

@@54SCV8 love the way you put it. Exactly nearly each time I pulled the combo off I was able to either win that turn or the next couple of turns but I know how bad it must feel to have to sit through 6 or 7 more turns of doing nothing.

Hullbreacher also doesn't need to be combo'd, it's just way too good and consistently high value that you have no reason not to run it.

A little confused with the power level of the first game? A deck with 97 lands and a combo deck? Doesn’t seem like a fun interactive game, which is exactly what happened.

Daniel was actually asked to play the deck on stream nobody expected Mikes chain of smog combo and my Pramikon deck runs combos but it’s not adventurous that normally combos very fast

To be honest I don’t know how to feel about showcasing a meme deck, either it wins or does nothing at all, and forces other players to play in a certain way, like a countdown, there is no interaction, strategy, it’s a three player game with a gimmick timer…

I'm really glad Hullbreacher got banned. I'm a nekusar player since he got released and I feel its just too much of a card. And no, I didn't play it, even if I like more spikier kind of games. But 3 mana is too low, it being a 3/2 is also imo too good, since you can actually evade quite a lot of removal. Ofc it being blue. Not too long ago when we could meet up and play i person, almost all games Hullbreacher got cast and stuck around for a bit, the game slowed dowm to a halt. The mood dropped and at the end of the day, all games that we all considered as bad had Hullbreacher in it. And also I don't think wheels are the crook in this context. Wheels are and can be powerful, but they can also breath new life into games. Yes, interaction is good to have, punishing greedy draws, but maaan did they - again: imo - go wrong with the design. I can see the appeal of the card. Yes you can shuffle up a new game quickly, but it feels to me that the games loses its meaning. Its not like I'm superpassionate about this topic and I'm no cEDH player. And who knows, maybe it'll come off the list soon enough?

All valid points Sebastian. Of course not every game are they going to be removed right away. That's gonna happen. I think I personally had seen it keep more people from drawing their whole deck and winning, then stalling the game. But it really just varies from game to game and group to group. I would love to see it come off the list in the future, or have them print a more fair version of it. I don't exactly know what that would look tho. Thank you for checking the video out. @@InResponseEDH Yeah, it keeping people from drawing their decks is a good thing and is certainly a form of interaction, counterplay, that is needed. It was imo implemented in a very bad way. I think I'd rather see a temporary effect that only goes for the opponents/ a opponent of your choice? As in actually make it a counter/punishong play and not a backbreaking, gamealtering effect. Also , I know its a bit of a meme, but the whole that it should be white instead could be quite welcoming. And treasures are strong, really strong. I hope this text makes some sense haha.

Sorry??? No need to be upset. It’s one card out of the 99. The deck plays the same with or with out him. Draw cards and pillow fort till you combo off.

That was actually a mistake I made in my narration. I Signal that we are attacking in a clockwise motion and I mistakenly said Right when it would actually be left.

While I personally agree with the hullbreacher ban, I also support discussions to take place. You are correct. Our playgroup is enfranchised and has decks on the higher end of the spectrum. The Rules Commitee has gone on record saying that the ban list is not for play groups but for precedence, LGS's and strangers. We may not always like it but some rule of law has to exists.

I totally agree with you and rather than having a separate house ban list, we will still be adhering to the official ban list. I merely wanted to state that we all have our own idea of what is fun or not in EDH, and I hope we don't travel down a path where this becomes normal when a card becomes a "problem".

So I’m just getting back into the game and a little confused. Say mike had an odd amount of cards when he started that combo in the first game wouldnt he only be able to do it twice?

First of thanks TJ for checking out the video. But the combo is an endless loop. He can target himself with the copies of chain of smog an infinite amount of times before the spell resolves, and makes him discard the cards. Hope that answers your question
