Welcome back to the Invest In Yourself Podcast. Today I am joined by mafia historian / author Sandra Peddie. Sandra and I talk about the book she wrote. Sandra recently wrote a whole book about Colombo Crime Family underboss Sonny Franzese. Sandra got to meet Sonny a few times before he died to get his life story out there. Sandra interviewed many people who knew Sonny to make this book happen. She even got to interview Sonny’s two sons. Michael Franzese and John Franzese Jr. This book was a very informative read. Her book is the most informative book ever wrote on Sonny by far. She gave us the closest thing we will ever get to a "True Biography" on him. I remember hearing about this project long before she was finished. Props to her for making it happen, and the same to you for the hard work you put in to your channel. Did you re-upload this? I feel I like I seen you interview her before?

and she said Sonny was from Naples. he was born there when his parents were on vacation. that doesn't make him "from there" 😂 like it mattered that the guy who made it was from Naples. like Sonny would know. he spent like a week there and this person wrote a book on him! smh. she also likes to think she's superior. always mentions "Minnesota" like people there don't get arrested. first sentence in the book. "here i am from Minnesota, sitting next to a killer!" he was never convicted of any murder. great reporter

John jr.was a wacko from the first time me and him had a fight in Decamaron the night club in Levittown. Fight carried over to the dinner later that night.Michael was a gentleman. Sonny got screwed back in the 60's by the government.

I think that SJ”s feminine qualities may have been one of the reasons that her work telling this story is so exceptional. Certainly her brilliance had no small part in it. The book is certainly exceptional and was pretty faithful to the documentary. However the documentary which was split into several individual short segments, each one intriguing, was one of the most exceptional presentations about the mafia no matter what the format, be it newspaper, book, movie or documentary!, illuminating and all around brilliant. And If you haven’t seen it then I know you’ll enjoy both the book and the documentary. What made this story exceptional is not necessarily the crime but I believe that S.J.’s feminine qualities probably allowed her to tell this story better than any other mafia writer because it was really a dynamic story about several extremely fascinating characters who all belonged to the same family, both in the traditional as well as the criminal sense.

no she can't because she made it up. i run the book. she mentioned there that carlo didn't want him as the Colombo boss but didn't elaborate as to why.

Micheal can be Sonny's real son, not just step son. And is not true no one wanted to take Sonny from his family. He needed the care there though.

One note..can only receive a dishonorable discharge after conviction at a courts-martial for reprehensible offense - desertion, treason, murder, sexual assault, etc. Typically also includes a prison sentence. Homicidal tendencies? That would correlate to some type of medical discharge I guess. Unfit for service. Would not be a punitive discharge.

@@anthonydelgrosso4818 Yeah it was an officer's wife he was banging, and the officer basically told her to say Sonny violated her honor, but he wasn't put in a brig although he was DD. I had an uncle who was DD and never served any kind of time either, but he did have to go before a tribunal or court martial proceeding etc... I was never fkng told why my unc was DD which pisses me off because I have no frame of reference to compare and give an example. Edit: The fact Sonny served no time but was dishonorably discharged shows me it was probably just some outraged officer and not an assault, which most women ever interviewed were glowing about Sonny although he and his wife would be seen "slapping and grappling each other" during their worst fights LOL. When you see Sonny and older clips of his wife, coupled with the things other ppl around them said it was obvious they were crazy about each other if not stable.

Michael himself said in his book (Blood Covenant, his autobiography) Sonny isn't his biological Father and Sonny gave him his last name. When Sonny met Michael's mother she had Michael already and Sonny raised Michael as his own then made more children with Michael's mother

Sonny had an affair with 16 year old Christina,she became pregnant with Michael. Since Sonny was married, they arranged for her to marry a guy named Grillo. Sonny divorced his 1st wife, Tina got divorced & they married each other. Sonny IS Michael’s bio father. Michael looks very much like Sonny.

awful book. im ashamed i wasted money on it. all she did was lie about him. very first page she called him a killer. he was never convicted of murder. she bribed and tricked a 103 year old man with cookies who was half senile. this lady is a hack. don't waste your time or money on the book. p
