@@mr.castman9106 Actually seeing things like 3:50 i never knew that was a thing. And i forgot about the street fight situations. Maybe M2s are better, but for driving i think M1
The policing system in Mafia 3 is honestly one of my favorites. It's not overwhelming and annoying like Watch Dogs or Ubisoft's games do, it's not as confusing as Mafia 1-2's.
Hard to judge if it was a lazy programming or intended design. GTA games were never serious / hardcore games, they were more for casual / arcade. Therefore cops shooting you on sight without any other interaction is not too much surprising for me. Meanwhile, Mafia was always aiming for serious and realistic style with the exception of Mafia III.
You make a very good point, but I still think they should have been like GTA IV’s police or better. I’ve been finding several unused lines of code in the game files for NPC arrests, traffic violations, etc. I’ve actually gotten cops to simply follow me around “reading my license plate” by enabling an unused line, so some still work. Rockstar must’ve added shoot to kill instead right before release.
See thing is: that GTA was never supposed to be realistic. I mean in SA there was literally a jetpack you could steal. Also really convenient for you to blame it all on "laziness", when it could've been a multitude of different reasons. Jesus it's like all you people think all games should be the exact same
@@Thekillergreece mafia 3 was developed by Hangar 13, and look at the cops there... that's why I dont want them to develop mafia 4. It would be complete garbage and let everyone down
So a while back in your Mafia 3 analysis, I mentioned a bug in that game where a cop may follow/chase you despite not having a wanted level. Well, I was able to recreate it multiple times and it seems that if you escape the cops by simply hiding in a blue zone and then emerging after they call off the search, there is a very strong chance that one of the police units still on scene will follow you. The behavior is the same as if they are in active pursuit, right down to even ramming you car if in one. The only diffrence, no lights, no siren, no back up, and no gunfire. A great way to test out their A.I. without too much heat so long as you could avoid hitting cars or pedestrians. Should you choose to revisit the game.
"Wanted" system is something that must have being implemented in Watch Dogs, but Ubisoft as always 100% cutted it off, maybe because "players will be bored to run away from police". Love this game
My favourite thing to do is get a 3 Star wanted and lead the police to some diner place and settle for a fizzy little dinner and starting a shootout in the rain during night. Ah good old times
Police in this game are much more polite and professional than mafia 1 de, although I prefer mafia 1 de’s police system because the detectives are friggin badass. Also in Mafia 2 DE you know you're screwed when you hear 'Use of automatic weapons is authorised' over the police radio. Although admittedly in both games the police are very easy to kill and/or escape from, even at a 4/5 star wanted level.
Do you play mafia 1 DE on classic mode, without aim-assist and set the police behaviour to simulation? Are your car settings on simulation and do you drive manually or with automatic gear switches? Just curious✌🏻
@@dice1378 haven’t played yet but I’d probably go with classic mode, simulation police behaviour, aim assist on simulation car physics with automatic gears
@@joshuamccutcheon good pick but for my first play through on normal I turn aim assist of just to get used to it bc IIRC I heard on classic you have to play with manual aim dunno? I was asking bc I wondered why you said the cops are so easy to escape from. I get it and agree for mafia 2, mainly bc of the health regeneration system being much more forgiving then in mafia 1 DE. For mafia 1 DE with the settings I mentioned the cops are pretty good and the health system is hard, you can only get health back by old school medipacks. In the missions there are enough but in Free ride (wich is the best place for cop escapes) you only have them at the gas stations
I'm not actually sure but if it gave me an option to turn on aim assist on classic mode I'd do it cause I have difficulty aiming without assists cause I'm new to shooting games. I can play the original Doom without any real difficulty but newer games the aiming system takes some time for me to get used to
Police AI is bad in Mafia 2. There is one crucial thing - imagine - player in a shop kills someone, etc... police arrives, they see player out of shop. But when player gets in the shop to hide, visual contact is lost. And then there is a blue line in circle HUD, which decreases - a timer lasting about 15 secs. When this short time is out, police somehow loses awareness, they have "amnesia", so switching to a patrol mode. Although it is obvious that criminal IS IN THE SHOP. Ridiculous. They just pass the door of the shop, where are blood spots, windows shattered, like they do not care anymore! Mafia 3 has better police AI - it continues to search area for a much longer time. It has some other things, issues, but THIS thing is at least OK.
@@cloacky4409 Well then every police system in GTA was always flawed. They would drive into you constantly, sometimes their driving is bad, and most times they run over each other. GTA 5 there is one feature where the cops can actually rescue each other when they are gunned down.
@@SoraFan23 It serves to create a frantic and brutal but very fun and arcadey sandbox experience. GTA doesn't need traffic violations, tickets and whatnot.
@@cloacky4409 Although since i heard that Rockstar is making the next GTA game I would want the Police to like Tackle you to the ground if you were to get a one star level If you resisted arrest and try to flee they would tase you. If you try to point your gun at them they would start shooting. GTA 5 didn't do this right because when you get close the cops they start shooting at you.
@@SoraFan23 Oh yeah, something like in sleeping dogs? Cops would arrest you at any time in there and would run after you, tackle you and the heavier swat/heavy response units could insta-arrest you without a way to resist (because they're trained and stronger).
Yeah no matter what crime you commit those cops just want you dead for being black. That's why I like the Mafia 1 and 2 cops better because at least they are really doing their jobs then just going around being a bunch of trigger happy racists.
Honestly? This was one of the most disappointing remakes of all time. All they did was copy/paste the code and resell it with just barely better graphics than the original. There was no bugfixes, no improvements, nothing added. Mafia 1's remake was far better.
