Curioso! It is clear that the graphic jump is very appreciable and there is a good work, but it is surprising that in some details this remake is not up to the original level. Curious!
@@MrSaesh1 yes it does. The free ride in the remake, is free ride and free ride extreme mixed into one. That's why you have the missions, and random things found in the world. I've explored alot, and almost 100% the game. I played the original back in the day, and found myself really enjoying this remake. Say what you will about hangar 13, but they have absolutely redeemed themselves, after the mess that was mafia 3.
The way cars used to bend and glass shattered when you hit them always blew my mind when I was a kid. This game came out around the same time as GTA III and car damage mechanics in that came looked almost comical compared to MAFIA
LMAO I tought it was a glitch or smth but it was actually so poorly designed, it's the same animation of Mafia 3, they took that game, recycled it and make the graphics better but nothing more
DarkStorm Productions shut up kid. Nostalgia is one thing but only dumbass will not agree that the original had better game world, peds were more interactive and police responses were realistic.
@@ray4493 Bitch I'm in my 20s lol the original Mafia was my first Mafia and yes, this new Mafia is better. I love the original but like I said take off the nostalgia glasses. Original game world is ugly now, flat, colorless, not lively at all. Peds were a bit more interactive true but as for police responses, they're legit exactly the same in both versions.
@@DarkStormProduction5 that comment alone proves how much of an arrogant stupid you are. It's 2020 ofcourse the original would look ugly. We're talking about the game world and the ai behaviour not the colour-contrast of the remaster. "Nostalgia" is the only defensive word you know. Dumb prick.
Because it would have been hard to replace voice actors like Ray Liotta and Samuel Jackson. Without them Vice City and San Andreas wouldnt feel like the original. Sure they could have made the remasters cheaper (and much less buggier) , but then what do you expect from Rockstar
That can be true when you compare it with other games from that time. Like for example on other games with big world like Morrowind, it's also 2002, but Morrowind looks much much older now. And GTA San Andreas is 2 years younger than Mafia and still looks much worse.
1:33 Revolver fires like an automatic pistol in the remake - the firing speed is too fast. The original nailed the feel of firing a revolver - just my 2 cents
@@WifiPillow But point was that you just can't shoot so fast with double action trigger in real life, it's impossible, you would need some robotic fingers for that. Try it, I think 90% of games are showing revolvers very ridiculously. There should be possibility to manualy draw hammer and then shoot single action because shooting double action only is nonsense in real life and I hate when some game has double action only revolver and there is delay between I click and it fires, why the hell can't I manualy pull hammer before I fire first shot? It makes no sense, nobody is going to gun fight with revolver with not cocked hammer.
This video had a bad example with the cars. They react the same way in the original, it just requires more speed. (excluding the fact he's on the sidewalk) most people aren't gonna start leaping and stumbling away when you're going walking speed in a car...
@@k1ng_BL0C Not bad example, I finished remake and pedestrians are not reacting at all or jumping under my car and drivers are reacting retarded when I am honking, in original game when I was honking and going fast thru crossing, nobody hitted me, in remake honking is vice versa, all cars are trying to hit me. :-D
I just finished the remake and never played the original. I loved it personally and I really enjoy the little content they added for free ride. There will always be people who prefer the original and I get that, it's kind of like MGS1 and Twin Snakes. At some point I'll probably play the original but I'm glad both versions exist.
the sad thing I could whip up a more feature rich AI using basic state machines (hell, I could use the animator for the most part if I wanted) in unity in less than 24 hours, I really really like this remake but the AI is just sad.
Nobody cares about AI, they only focus on graphics, it's what sells nowdays, hopefully with the better graphics of next gen, smarter AI will take that place
If i'm being honest. Every game has dumb enemy AI, and i don't know why that bothers you people so much? The only game i can think about that has decent enemy AI is far cry 2 lol
The Mafia remake looks better from a graphics perspective and probably improved control. But overall I prefer the atmosphere and story/voice acting of the original.
@@shreyasbytes6621 in some aspect yes, but sadly it changes what messages carried out by the original, in the original, Tommy motivation is to do everything so he didn't get whacked, in the remake, it's his family
I played this game in 2003, when I was 13 years old and in 2003 it looked like it is today, in terms of graphics Mafia was amazing and still is impressive! I bought the remake of 2020 and I'm really impressed with the quality of the game, but there are some bugs that must be fixed! Bye!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷😁😁😁
man the bugs are bad, im on the mission "Great Deal" and the truck your supposed to follow thats carrying the "load" can magically drive 200mphs and always dies.
I was born in 2003 and I was really impressed with the graphics in games like BO2 and Madden 12. So obviously they were still good graphics but in just under ten years I can't believe how far they've come.
I liked the original Tommy Angelo. He looked and sounded innocent and like a normal guy... This new version of him looks and sounds like a villain from the beginning 😂
One trend i noticed with remasters/remakes is that the character models look like playdough(and sometimes dipped in baby oil) while the environment/world looks realistic. It has a really strange disconnect to the world when this is the case.
This was my fisrts 3d game in 2002, I remember that i was so amazed by the details and everything, now, that I'm playing the remake, I'm so happy to see how technology is capable now of doing things like this, and I'm so happy to play this amazing game again with the same "amazing" energy that i felt when I was younger.
The first Mafia was one of my favorite games ever. What I don't like about this remake is the fact that Tom looks and talks like a total asshole. Original voice acting portrayed him as more of a good guy with some moral standards.
The dude has to be joking Original Tom was so bland and the actor was also bad How can you like it The new onei like a lot, he has plenty honorable moments and don't recall him being like your comments describes I just believe you don't like the accent
That Stamina bar when you charge up a melee attack in the Original looks super identical to the Health bar for the Remake That's a cool small detail imho.
After seeing this it only makes me wonder when other companies are going to try to breathe life into some of their older games. Brings older games to the younger people who never got to enjoy such classics and also feels the needs of us older generation who loved the games.
in 2066 maybe because gta 4 still relate to play this year and it was comes in ps3 era , 2 london or gta trilogy will be better get a remake but it's not rockstar code they always try new never remake their old game (MY english is poor btw)
In what way? The gameplay is very clunky in the original (especially driving). The voice acting is also pretty bad. Tommy just sounds bored all the time.
At some Point s in the Remake i Had the Feeling of a speed Run through the Story. They Cut some driving parts in the Missions and some cutscene have terrible pacing. For example in the Motel Mission ,tommy Waits Outside and only some Seconds later the Shooting in the Motel starts. In the original Tommy smokes 30 Seconds or even longer ,you See the ,,No Smoking " sign it creates alot more atmosphere and makes Tommy cooler.
Few things, that are pain in the a** in remake; - linearity - in original there was more ways to complete the mission, harbor is way too linear - holding by the hand on every possible way, even on classic difficulty (BIG GOLD MARKERS allways visible, square pointing where to stop on the ground, icons on every interactive object (cant forget mission with Morello's brother and tanker - that was way better in original) - Difficulty - sometimes its too hard to complete mission without failing it (specially those with vehicle healthbars) - music - Lack of small details like destroying small objects on map (presented on this video), inability to shoot through barriers (specially visible on Hotel Corleone mission), fuel consumption only "on paper" - Pedestrians are just dumb and glitched - dont react to horns, when tram is stopping al cars behind it also stops (for ages), when they TRY get inside parked car, they simply teleport outside of it - Too few road lights - All clocks in world are stopped on 3 o'clock Thats all, and that much.
That's a remaster, but there is a good remaster and a good remake, this is the second approved good remake after Resident Evil 2. Though EA has many remake worthy games, I'd love Clive Barker's Undying!
Add a little bit of weight to the swing and make tommy actually look where he throws, and it's all fixed. Wonder why Hangar 13 didn't bother to do this though
Gordon Quick Well, it's a 40$ game so recycled animations is expected, it would've been nice if they worked more on throwing animations and thompson recoil.
It's jarring seeing the overall presentation treated in high fidelity, while some gameplay animations left kinda janky looking. I know it's a nitpick, but it's just a shame they didn't bother to retouch it at all, since that difference in quality makes it all the more noticeable
I heard from the devs "Lincoln Clay was a trained soldier, he knows how to use guns, Tommy doesn't" well, then Tommy was a badass gunslinger by what I'm seeing
The fact that they remade a game that has profound personal importance to me and I consider to be objectively one of the best of its time is more than I could ask for.
I was watching my big brother playing mafia original and i have good memories with this game can't forget it ❤ The remake is amazing but i like the original
I have never played Mafia before and I had no no idea it was released in 2002 until I read the comments by its graphics I though it was an early 360-PS3 release with bad controls and squared models but It definitely looks too good to be a 20 years old game.
@@COMMODOOSA Jesus you rly spam all this shit everywhere? We get it nostalgic. Play your outdated crap but ffs leave people that enjoy the game alone. Will you ? And when i tought the last of us fanbase was toxic lol
