Idk how Hollywood hasn't turned Phil's book 'mafia prince' into a movie or at the least a tv series. There are so many interesting characters full of violence, comedy and tragedy.
@RStevenPage
@RStevenPage 4 месяца назад
It's kind of a mystery why Leonetti hasn't cashed in on his notoriety like so many other mobsters. Maybe he just wants to cut all ties with his past. I think Mafia Prince would make a great movie. Family, betrayal, violence, regret. A young fatherless kid idolizes his uncle then must sacrifice the uncle to find himself.
@ShaunKang69

If you think you'll make it to be the one who luckily gets to make millions then think again. In today's world in America it's ever-increasingly hard to do this in the States. Other countries? Of fuck yes you still can but not here in America. You'll get pinched before you get to any decent money levels with organized crime. Go to the yt channel "The Mob Reporter" & you'll see the Europe gangsters busted with millions. In America it's too technologically advanced to get very far.

Someone really needs to make a series about the mob. It writes itself, every era is a season start with early 1900s into masseria, season 2 is Castellammerese war, season 3 get thru WW2 time period, season 4 the 50s, and so on. End it with Frank Cali getting killed from last year. Get former mobsters that will talk about things that went on the public doesn’t know to build the script like Leonetti, Natalie, Franzese. Shame Sonny Franzese passed he had so much knowledge about things that happened. You don’t even need to make things up there’s so much material.

Apparently there’s a new series in the works called First Family, about the early years of the mob from the 1890s until the formation of the Commission in 1931. It’s being written and produced I believe by Terrence Winter who was one of the main writers of The Sopranos

@willmosse3684
@willmosse3684 4 года назад
Josh Daily - From the title I am hoping it is based on the the book The First Family by Mike Dash (link below), which is fucking awesome. It goes into detail about the formation of the first New York mafia family in the 1890s by Giuseppe “The Clutch-hand” Morello, which would ultimately become known as the Genovese Family (having been run by the likes of Joe Masseria, Lucky Luciano and Frank Costello in the mean time). It is all about the power plays within the Italian criminal underworld, though it largely takes place before organised crime groups gained real political traction in wider society during and after prohibition. Also, the audiobook has been on RU-vid for free for at least the last two or three years, but it has now been pulled, which may indicate recent interest in the intellectual property, and hence could support the idea the show will be based on this book. www.amazon.com/First-Family-Extortion-Revenge-American/dp/0345523571

Will Mosse I’m about to check it out man love this type of stuff. It’s just so interesting how things played out back then, there was no technology no one going viral to gain power, it was all about how you played things and who you knew, word of mouth was paramount. Things didn’t come easy you had to actually put in the work to move up. I don’t really know much about anyone from that time aside from Masseria and his rise and the war and how the war ended with his death and the formation of the commission came about after that and was started by Lucky. Definitely going to check it out tho cool to see how it all started.

Josh Daily - Yeah, me too man. I’m a total addict, even though I live in a completely different country (the UK), am in no way Italian, or anything. But I find it fascinating. All that stuff about the Castellemarase War, Masseria, Maranzano, Luciano etc. is cool as fuck. This stuff from a generation earlier is less well known, but is super interesting too. I hope they do make a show based on this. Then it will be more known about.

I have a different perspective as a 50 year old man now than I did 20 years ago. I use to think these mob movies and shows were very cool until I met a woman that her life was ruined by the mob. I have a friend whose father was a capo in the mob and he was killed when she was 3 years old. That is the side of the mob you don’t see in the movies and the newspapers that make them look glamorous. My friend is now in her 40’s and she grew up knowing that her dad was shot in the head and killed with a shotgun, because of some stupid mob war over nothing more than greed! Phil said it best in this interview, you should want nothing at all to do with any of these people. These mob guys will devastate your entire family before they are through! We have to stop glamorizing these people. They are just pure evil, and only being devastation and destruction to everything and everyone they come in contact with!

There were a few apex mobsters in that era: Tommy Pitera, Tony Mirra, Demeo, Greg Scarpa, Westies, the Purple Gang from East Harlem (who were known for leaving a brutal mess), and certain Zip crews like Galante's (baddest man ever). Don't let the internet fool you either, the Bonannos had some scary guys at the time.
