Awesome, I have a set I'm getting ready to put on my newest project but the chrome is beyond saving so it's either haven't them rechromed, and that's certainly not in the budget or just getting some wheel paint and paint them, so I'm just gonna paint them either Copper or Graphite, I haven't decided yet.

I have some really old "roller" chrome reverse wheels I clean up every so often. Similar to how you did it. So, the rust comes off but that doesn't put the chrome back on. And the rust comes back. I wonder if putting some wax on my help it last. The wheels are not on a car that is driven but they are outside.
