These interviews are delightful to watch: calm, measured, informative, apparently honest with no garish lights, no hideous screens always on and dipicting scenes from the movies they're talking about, no noisy, cackling audience inserting sound and interrupting the conversation and no stupid, corny, foul innuendos to try to embarass the guest or make the host seem smart. Not giggly, greedy for slander or aggrandizing. It's just straightforward and refined.

@Frank Lee Steamed No giraffes munching on leaves in the background, No thermonuclear warheads rolling around on the floor, no washing machines making whirring sounds while it washes some dirty shirties clean, no dancing pandas pirouetting around in a beautiful animal ballet. Just Maggie Smith answering questions put to her by other people.

I'd go get my haircut as a boy and come home with headaches pickled in cigarette smoke. Nobody gave two third about the effects on themselves or others, even a child. To ask people not to smoke would be difficult when there are already several people puffing away.

@@bsota8513 Well I guess because we don’t see it that often. people do smoke but they tend to do it privately. There are laws now that prevent you from smoking in public i.e. in restaurants etc. so you just don’t see it as much anymore. So that’s why it seems a little strange.

Seeing celebrities smoking on TV during an interview seems kind of strange to me. I guess it was a sort of norm in the 60s. Still feels a little disturbing.
@TheMasterNo6
@TheMasterNo6 3 года назад
Whats 'disturbing' about it? Ever since society has had it rammed down its throat to quit smoking, people have become more obese, drank more alcohol and even turned to online gambling to soothe themselves. Left folk smoke cigarettes, they would be a lot more happier - and yes, I am a smoker - I will quit when I want to, I admire the old days, scenes like this when interviewees could smoke on film. Have a cigarette.
