Dame Julie Andrews introducing Dame Maggie Smith and Robert Stephens to introduce Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt. We'll never see the likes of this again. Nothing even close.
Theatre royalty descending upon the stage: a very young Julie Andrews, Maggie Smith and Robert Stephens presenting a special Tony to the fabulous Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. This is a piece of theatre history for you.
Why the hell would he cheat on her? They look so in love! But good for Maggie for finding a new man! - unfortunately he passed away, but I am glad she was able to spend a little time in paradise. It is so wonderful to hear her talking about her late husband, Beverly Cross, it always brings a smile to her face. :)
So divine divine divine to see even a glimpse of the Lunts. Gos knows how old she was and so chic and elegant, and the patch is because by then he had lost the sight in ,that eye I believe. A joy!
Thank goodness that the theater honored the Lunts. I'm so amazed by the Lunts that I don't even care that it's Julie Andrews, Robert Stephens, and the great Maggie Smith on stage ..... And I also agree that it should've been a thunderous ovation in greeting the Lunts and as they exited the stage. That was Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt ... for pity's sake!!!
Robert appears to be more than a tad drunk, and more than a tad annoyed at getting second billing to Maggie. As for cheating, it happens to everybody, and I mean everybody.
