I know Terrence Mann's quote about the theatre but I wish he had choose to work in movies instead he was just as talented as other actors from his generation. Wasted his potential on antiWhite musical theatre. So sad.
Recently saw my school districts production of this show and it was so cute 😭😭 I am completely overjoyed seeing THE Mary Testa did this show, my idol fr
I worked with John Weidman, who wrote the book of this. I saw it on its first run on Broadway. This opening number was so fantastic, so beautiful and smart, I was in tears. And I don't normally do that.
It is such a crime that they didn't professionally filmed the full show with Harry Groener for release. It's so infuriating. I so wish he had choose to work in movies instead thwy way I could see more of him and more so because he is such an incredibly talented underrated actor. He deserved so much better.
Excellent performance! Although I will say as much as I love this song it’s an odd choice for the Tony awards. I would have expected Sit Down John or even Cool Cool… or a medley hitting most of the numbers. Nonetheless this was excellent!
I saw this show when Hinton Battle hired me to dance in a choreography he was doing for a showcase down in Soho at the Ohio Theatre. He got me and the other guys seats to Tap Dance Kid and I saw it again.... The dancing was as electric as you can imagine from this clip. 14 years later I ended up in the Original Cast of The Lion King and performed at the 1998 Tony's. Hinton was magical and as real as they come!! Rest in Power....
Saw this 1970 Thanksgiving weekend when all the High Schools went to NY. Very Powerful Song. I put it there with two others. Bibles, to Rum, to Slaves and the when Daniel Craig and Virginia vestal sang about their loneliness after Martha Jefferson's arrival. It was a fantastic play (Did NOT go see the Reimagined one) That actually was a pretty good movie that is now a 4th of July Classic.
My late mother and I were thrilled by this production in Boston by the original Broadway cast. We were blown away by the music, costumes and moving story. Truly a masterpiece.
Oh my...I think she's tripping on acid when she sings. It looks like someone is pointing a gun at her from off camera. WTF is with the freaky eyes? LOL LOL
I just can't see this Broadway Evitas other than a cheap and overacted circus. In the movie Madonna and Jonathan Pryce's version broke my heart but this is just ridicolously oldschool and corny like a parody.
Annie was my first Broadway show. I was 4 and knew every word. When the curtain came up I wanted to go on the stage too. When I started singing along my mom tried to shut me up and a woman sitting in front of us turned around and said “No, you sing, honey.” I still have the Playbill and the very played out album.
I Live in England and In The Late 60s I Saw THIS Show Possibly 4 Maybe 5 Times The Choreography Was very Different From What I've Since Seen From America but The One thing That The Casts Have - Is Their Enthusiasm I TRULY Hope Those Days Come Again - I Miss Them 😢
