There is obvious mold all through this Ice Maker! Badly needs cleaning, both through machine's auto-clean function and manually (use one-to-one water/vinegar solution). New soft sponge brush, unused soft toothbrush, soft cotton cloth. Otherwise, you're drinking mold spores with the ice. There being visual mold, make certain to run the cleaning cycle several times, draining & replacing with fresh water each time. Also, even before you opened the appliance, it was obvious that it needed dust removal. Canned compressed air, soft toothbrush, small-nozzle vacuum cleaner. Beyond that, excellent demonstration of switch removal, part ID'ing, and replacement. Really, really appreciated that bit of info!
That's dirty? The bowl the ice forms in, on my Frigidaire ice maker is totally black, after less than two months, after running the self clean function. I think it is the garbage in our local city water. Will tear down and clean with bleach.
I've been using one of these for the past couple of years... it quit last week. I took it apart and found the exact same issue you did. Ordered a replacement switch this morning. Perfect video - thanks!
Thanks for posting this!! I'm on ice maker #2. The first one was covered under warranty when it started doing this "no water" thing, so they sent me a new one. Now the replacement has pulled the same stunt, so I figured it had to be something simple. I'm probably going to fix both of them (I mean, why not..?) And I guess then I'll have boatloads of ice LOL Thanks!!
Disregard the question. I figured out it was the water I was using. Added a pinch of salt and it started making ice. I was using distilled to keep the hard water build-up down.
Thank you so much for this video, unfortunately it seems the factory has gotten wise to these videos and the six screws that hold the back on are now put on a way that they cannot be removed, all other screws are fine. Has anyone else run into this issue?
I appreciate this video! My ice maker is doing the same time and my mom is so upset that it's not working. I followed step by step to fix it but the link you have for the piece says currently unavailable on Amazon. Can you update the link so I can make sure I'm buying the correct piece?
Before you take it apart fill it with vinegar. Let set for 3 hours. Then try it. It should work. Then run a few times with water to clean out the vinegar. Works everytime for me.
The small moter that moves the tray would be rusted u can take the moter out and clean it or just order a new moter just look up the details that should be on the moter as a sticker
hey, man i love your video, its interested i have a problem of my ice machine is making ice but it doesn't make ice cube its creating a shape ice please help me to over come it
Yup, it looks like I may have the same problem, as it does the same thing. Says "Ice Full" when there is no ice at all. Why don't you send me a couple of your spare switches? Thanks.
Damn.... that wasn't my problem. My water tray won't move all the way frwd and backward. I mean sometimes it does, but there is clearly a sound inside of the housing that is not normal, when the water tray is struggling to move all the way forward. 😭😭😭 @ me if you know a fix before I open it up. Thanks! ❤❤✌
@@get.sassyxd I'm gonna try buying a new motor. They seem to be cheap on Amazon & eBay around $11-$17. If you're facing the front of your ice maker it *should* be on the *Right* side. So you can find the Part's Model Number. If that is indeed the fix to your problem. ❤✌
@@thisguy1397 yeah I just ended up buying a new machine anyways lol I had taken it all apart and found it was the motor but I wanted a new one anyways. Went a couple days with out ice but the new machine is bigger, holds more, and self cleans. My magic chef one would get so dirty in the ice shovel area from our hard water and it was so hard to clean all the way! Happened to have the money to upgrade so I did :) good luck!
We are all humans we learn new stuff every day who Care's if he doesn't know what it is the video is how to fix the thing and the matter of fact is this video helped me fix the problem
mine sucked.....only few months into use and BOOM add water light comes on.....even WITH water in it and no more workingh....terrible product....NEVER BUY ONE...
Thank you for posting this. My moms ice maker broke and she was super upset and close to getting a new one and I was not willing to spend money on one without trying to fix it. Thank you so much for your help!! I was able to fix it just now and it’s up and running again🫶🏼
