I think it's the opposite .. magic is so big now and so old, that the people creating are running out of ideas .. that's why instead of creating new planes, we get to revisit all the planes that sold well .. instead of new characters we get characters from other IP's that sold well or are owned by hasbro .. instead of a story we get puns, jokes or some pop-culture reference .. and most of the art today is just that same-y digital fantasy keyword art .. and in the case of special art, it's some out of the world crazy SL art barely recognisable as a magic card or some chase card with 5+ different variations .. and I only say most because to my delight, some of the new Eldrain cards are very nice pieces of art

Saw the title and feared the worst. Self aware is probably a less provocative use of language in this case. Woke has purely negative connotations in 2023, for example banning magic card artworks due to being "Un PC"
