Great review and the filming was really good. Great job! I would never choose a MacBook over an iPad Pro though. My Mac sits in a corner barely used most of the time.

The only reason that makes apple believe that people will chose this over the MacBook Pro even though both are in same price range is the Touch support and Apple pencil. Can't get that with MacBook Pro.

I just got mine yesterday. Love it though I have a small little crease in the loose rubber covering the hinge somehow already after maybe half a day of use. Maybe it was like that and I didn’t notice because I can’t seem to shape it back to normal. Besides that, it’s incredible well built. I have the Apple Smart Keyboard and the Brydge Keyboard and the magic keyboard completely wipes the floor with both of those

I think I’m gonna get the 11’ with a Apple Pencil and the keyboard. I’m gonna be using this for drawing, writing, entertainment and maybe school. So yeah.

Presumably it’s heavy because there’s big need for a screen counterweight?

You did an amazing job on this video! I loved the intro! I think the keyboard is awesome and it finally liberates the iPad from the “just tablet” territory and puts it in a work tablet category which is very refreshing.

I would really love to see more content from your channel on different brands besides Apple because there’s only so much that Apple can do.. other brands tend to get more exciting unlike Apple that keep it simple and exquisite 👌🏽

I’ve been trying an iPad Pro the past week and while it excels at some things (like the drawing tablet) wide array of apps and portability. It’s UI, file system, multitasking etc... is just lacking compared to an actual laptop. Not to mention many professional apps just don’t compare to their MacBook/pc counterparts. Let’s just be honest, this case is for people who type most of the time. Besides who doesn’t have multiple cases for their apple products, I mean I must have at least four or five cases for just my iPhone and three for my iPad. I knew before I bought the magic keyboard case that I was just going to be typing with it hence the keyboard. This is an amazing product, apple did such a good job making the already capable iPad Pro more so. Great video btw loving your minimalist style to your office

Also its because of you that I discovered the refurbished side of Apple and bought the 2018 iPad pro WiFi + cellular + apple pencil for the new 2020 iPad pro 11 inch price! I would recommend check out the Logitech keyboard for the iPad pro...its has the function keys and the travel for the keys feel so much better! Also you can open it with one hand and can lay it flat along with standing! Also its way cheaper than the Magic keyboard...they only loss is the track-pad but you can connect a Bluetooth mouse and you are good to go :D keep up the amazing work man! p.s love your presets!

There has to be some sort of exclusivity here. I don’t know a single “regular” person that has received their magic keyboard yet. I haven’t received mine and I ordered it as soon as it was available for preordering. It is not available in retail stores. In fact, most sites still say the product is unreleased. Yet, several RU-vidrs have it. Several have gone out of their way to mention that their relationship with Apple is not ideal and they had to purchase the device themselves. If that is indeed the case, how is it that they’ve received their devices WEEKS before everyone else?

Hi, when you are using the magic keyboard do you have battery draining issue? My ipad pro 12.9 2020 drains 32% for an hour of Notion apps usage when attached to the magic keyboard and cause my ipad overheating and depleting battery even after i detach it from the magic keyboard, i have to turn of my ipad for several minutes to cooldown and prevent the further battery depletion. Thanks before.

Nice review. And I like your content and your setup. Love this iPad Pro Magic keyboard and I’ll definitely be ordering one. I currently use an iPad Pro 11” as my daily driver and have done so for almost a year. Had to sell off my MacBook Pro cos the 128gb was just not enough. My iPad Pro is 256gb and it’s great. I pair it with a Magic Keyboard 2, a Magic Trackpad 2 as well as a 27” HD monitor. When I get this iPad Pro Magic keyboard, it’ll be for when I’m out and about. It’ll be much easier than juggling three separate items separately. And of course I totally love the look.

Can’t wait for Magic Keyboard 2.0. I think if that folds back and has function keys, it’ll give a LOT of people buyer’s remorse for not waiting for version 2.

Yeah, we basically have the same setup (though I have a PC instead of an iMac), and I pretty much came to the same conclusions: My PC is great for Resolve, VR games, Photoshop, while the iPad (I have the 11 Pro base model 2018, now the keyboard) is pretty much functional enough to make me not have to worry about needing a laptop, and is great as just an iPad for when I need a lightweight tablet. Thought I was gonna be disappointed by the magic keyboard but it’s been super impressive.

Your Kit page says you use the Rode video micro. Is that what you are using here and how far away is it? Do you have any sound dampening panels?

I really like the keyboard (typing experience) and the design. but my problems are: the „viewing angle“ is extremely limited (you can‘t use the apple pencil when the iPad is i the case). the edges are exposed so if you want to prevent your iPad from scratching you have to buy a second case (like a „soft“ laptop case). and most importantly the price is extremely high (349$!!). (your setup is nice)

I just got my iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard today. So far I love it. I also own a 2018 13 inch MacBook Pro, and I will be starting my freshman year of college in the fall. My plan is to keep the MBP docked in my dorm with a monitor and take the iPad Pro to class for notes and then use sidecar for homework.

I have watched several reviews of the Magic Keyboard, and yours is the most informative. I believe you are the only one to tell me that the keyboard will actually protect the iPad. Thank you. I didn't choose the iPad over the MacBook. I have both, and the iPad for really one reason: the pencil. I wish Apple would give in and add touch screen to the Mac.

I'm the same as you I have the luxury to have both a MacBook and iPad Pro, I love the keyboard it's brilliant, and the iPad overall can do some things MacBook can't. The only thing I will slightly disagree with, is that if I had to choose between them I feel like I would pick the iPad, I enjoy doing the things I do on the go and in front of the TV more on the iPad than on a laptop/MacBook, I agree though that some stuff I would have to do on my Macbook instead e.g. Final Cut in front of the TV (I so hope they bring that to iPad, maybe I'll give lumafusion a go..), but my iPad is what I'll be chucking in a bag when I go somewhere or in front of the TV rather than my MacBook like I used too for 90% of the time, and when I'm home and need to work or game I use my PC. So I think it depends on how you use your devices. For example, my mum would do better with a tablet than a laptop, but I know a few guys at work that prefer the laptop. Think it depends if you care about touch input or not.. Great video though man :)

What would u choose between the 11 inch ipad and magic keyboard or macbook air for a student (doing economics at uni), that may do light video and photo editing in the future. Btw what storage should I choose(it will be my only device)

Ask yourself is the keyboard going to maximize the use of your iPad? Or is it just eye candy and new. If you need it then get it! For me my 96 key magic keyboard, stand, and Magic Mouse work just as well. When the price comes down and theirs color choices I will consider it!

So excited to get my Magic Keyboard for writing my scripts on my iPad. My iPad has become such a huge part of my workflow for my videos, and this seems to be the last piece of the puzzle that's missing! Nice video!

People love talking shit when they see a high price tag, without first asking why it commands such a price tag. How much ROI will people get with saved time using this? How much space does it save in your bag? In my opinion, no successful products are expensive, they are either priced correctly, or not competitively priced for the market.

The keys are small because you have the small iPad

I have and would again go #TeamiPad I have never been inspired to create, multi-task or consume content more than when I got this. Its fun. I look for reasons to use it. That’s what tech is supposed to do. Inspire new ways of doing things and enhancing it. No need to worry about WiFi because I have the cellular model. Charge is awesome and that pass through charging out of the hinge is magical. I totally understand wanting a MacBook, but honestly it would sit at my house in my room.

The typing experience on the magic keyboard is honestly better than a MacBook Air or even a pro. Only the 16 inch MacBook Pro keyboard is better. And this is coming from a PC user who uses a mechanical keyboard all the time.

I definitely agree on most fronts. I think one thing that really surprised me is that despite the thickness and the weight of the magic keyboard, I find that i don’t mind at all. In fact, I think I actually appreciate the added heft and the thickness does make me feel confident that it wont snap in half inside of my bag. Great video and cheers!

Got 12.9 MK for iPad Pro 2020. For drawing or note-taking, flip whole thing upside down. iPad lying down, though slightly elevated + keyboard facing you .. like a privacy wall 😂 Looks silly but works. And ... no sillier than my OLD iPad Pro 9.7 that charged w pencil sticking out of charging port (did somebody in design get fired for that?) 🤷🏾‍♀️

Why does your Return key along the right side look so different from mine, which is also the 11” model? You have a long, from top to bottom, Return key and mine is long from left to right.

I have this setup and I can tell you this: - I have no issue using my tablet “flat” with the case on. Since the hinge is very thick and firm, you can just turn it around and use it flat with the keys up. You get a very nice experience with your device at an angle. Also, I would say that I wouldn’t buy the mac, instead of this because: - I want something that fits in my purse. (And my iPad Air 4 with this case fits perfectly) - I don’t like laptops. - I work from home, in a windows PC, but when I’m not working I’m always on the move. So I have this light device that I can take everywhere, works as a drawing tablet, note taking, does most of the things I need, etc. If I had to buy a mac to pair with this setup I would pick the Mac mini. I hate laptops, have I said that already? Also very nice video!

Dude i love your glasses, where can i find them? Lol. Anyhow I’m typing using my iPad and magic keyboard. I’m a classical vocalist, I work singing opera and teaching voice. The iPad is the best solution for me, with the Apple Pencil I’m able to write notes on my sheet music app (forscore). I literally use my iPad for work daily. A MacBook couldn’t give the accessibility the iPad does for my work in music.

If i could chose between my MacBook Pro and my iPad Pro… I’m picking my iPad Pro with the magic keyboard. I could do the same things on my iPad Pro that i could do on my MacBook Pro, surf the web and write papers etc. What’s better! with the iPad Pro i can do more now with a touch screen, the multitasking split screen etc… and with procreate, drawing on the screen which i could not do on my MacBook Pro unless i purchase a Wacom tablet just to draw is a blessing. Not having the extra keys to dim the brightness or an escape key on the magic keyboard…is no problem! And there are a lot of tricks you can do with the magic keyboard to prop up the iPad with a nice tilt so you can draw using the Apple Pencil. Only thing I advise.. get a nice bluetooth mouse on Amazon for $8, and get a external hard drive depending on the work you do. I love the set up Oliur, very clean.

I think that ipad pro with magic keyboard is miles ahead of MacBook because 1. Ipad pro has awesome screen with 120hz pro motion and amazing colour and black levels which makes movie or Netflix or youtube experience much better and immersive. 2. Integrated 4 speakers setup on ipad pro just blow away the macbook speakers 3. Battery life and charging speeds is just insane 4. Ipad pro is much compact and easy to use in any position in bed and feels much more comfortable 5. Ipad pro has back cameras too with an led flash which macbook doesn't have. 6. Ipad pro with a12z processor is a monster in terms of performance and can handle any application with an ease.

I found the battery on iPadpro drains extremely fast with the magic keyboard. I was wondering if anybody has the same issue?

But multimedia purposes, specially video editing, not all macbook air and macbook pro could extract and edit multilayered videos as smooth and as fast as the Ipad pro. Before you can get the same performance as the ipad pro, you will need to buy a macbook pro that is atleast above $ 2k which is still way more expensive than buying an Ipad pro with magic keyboard which costs just above $1,200. Good video. The iPad vs MacBook discussion is silly tho. This combo isn't for competing with MacBook it's for extending iPad's usefulness. The number one weakness of a MacBook is you can't yank off the screen, or you have to buy a drawing tablet accessory, etc. Silly discussion.

The Magic Keyboard would easily be be the best must buy for all iPad Pro user if the price starts with $199 (11”) / $250 (12.9”). Otherwise, many would turn off to 3rd party instead

Good video...Am using the 11 inch iPad Pro with magic keyboard and while it feels good it feels kinda small for my hand..Probably 12.9 would have a bigger keyboard but the portability would be Reduced..Apple and its issues..😬

To me the iPad Pro is much more useful over any MacBook Pro as I am a student who studies STEM subjects and we do a lot of maths and writing about theory. The iPad allows me to type things down quickly and write maths with the Apple Pencil whilst having all the benefits of being digital and not taking up a lot of space so I will have to disagree with your opinion about a MacBook being more useful although I think the target audiences are different.

I’d choose the IPad Pro over the MacBook as it supports the Apple Pencil. Also the IPad to me still offers a greater, more book like reading and writing experience. I own both and often found myself to rather grab the IPad and work instead of the MacBook as I found the IPad to be more fun and often easier to just start working with despite the lack of genuine programs and thus productivity.

I like my iPad Pro 2020, I do wish the keyboard could lay flat but I just take it off and out it on top like you did in the video. I don’t have a macbook but for the amount of money I paid overall maybe I should have just bought one instead. Also wish I would have gotten a cellular iPad but just got the WiFi one. Other than that I don’t really have any complaints I feel like I just need to get used to apple devices other than the phone.

People seem to be forgetting that this case is for those people who are primarily typing on their iPads, with limited or no use of the Apple Pencil. For those who use an Apple Pencil, but also have a need for a keyboard occasionally, the Smart Keyboard Folio case is the one for them. The Magic Keyboard was clearly not designed for Apple Pencil use. I wish ppl would stop complaining that it is awkward to use the Pencil with this case.

If you want to use a pen you will not be using a keyboard at the same time. Use rotating screen and turn the iPad upside down. Besides, you can always disconnect the iPad from the keyboard to draw squiggles with your pencil. Good review though, thanks. 😊

As much as i love my iPad, i still feel the need to buy a laptop on the side. As a student, many apps such as Microsoft word/google docs are so terrible to use compared to a laptop.

I always hear from reviewers saying how the magic Keyboard is "heavy" If it weighs more than my Acer 15" laptop (4.6 lbs) then its heavy lol.

100% agree. It might be a great keyboard, but £300?! If typing is so important to people then why didn’t they buy a MacBook in the first place?

Remote Desktop combo is perfect with this whether it’s Mac or pc but only a few apps actually work properly with the trackpad from what I’ve seen. Mines on the way after amazon jerked me around a bit with the shipping.

Amazing review dude! I am just unsure about the apple pencil..Bc I like to white drown the things and I don't feel safe to take off the Ipad and leave it without any protection while using it...

For my 2018 12.9” I use a Logitech Slimfolio keyboard with an Apple Mouse 2 for a total cost of $225. I’m extremely satisfied.

MacBook has an inferior display and front camera. Not to mention you have to spend a fortune to get a comparable intel chip they probably won’t be as well supported once Apple switches off intel. I find the iPad more future proof imo

I think those who complain about not having functions keys and volume keys are looking for a completely non touch experience and I don't think that is what Apple was going for. The keyboard is to add to the touch experience not take away from it.

Some complain about the missing function keys and brightness volume keys not a big deal for me or most but Apple could fix that without a redesign of the keyboard by adding the same Touch Bar idea they use on the MacBook Pro By putting one on the bottom of the screen under the app launch bar or a swipe to the left or right.

I disagree, the new iPad 2020, they are just touching the surface. Soon the apps and tech will be more advanced with touching and interacting with the physical screen. Stay tuned..

For me a dealbraker is its useless with the apple pencil. Thats just dumb. For 350 ? nah.

Biggest deal killer for me (besides the price) is no accommodation for portrait mode. Also, not a fan of that location for a trackpad. Prefer it to right side rather than under the heels of my hands while typing. Better solution for me is a simple stand, mouse and wireless keyboard.

just turn the ipad around with the keyboard facing up and the iPad is flat... makes it into a nice drawing device too. Easy to undock aswell.

Why not use the track pad to open the control center to turn the brightness down instead of using your finger?

I think the reason it’s not able to go flat is because it’s meant to be taken out and used with out the keyboard too. Apple never meant for you to use the keyboard all the time. It’s a touch first device.

Can’t you change the brightness with the trackpad? So drag with the trackpad rather than touching the screen? Am hoping so as i can do that since mouse support came out.
