If Carlsberg did spring salmon fishing? A day's fishing for Atlantic Salmon for my 50th birthday turned into an unforgettable morning on the River Finn in Co Donegal. Fifty years in the making but worth the wait and memories that will live on for many years to come. Tight lines for 2024, let's hope its a good one!

That's the best 30 mins I have ever spent on RU-vid Andrew! I was finding it hard to look forward to this year's salmon season after the poor run last year but this has certainly wet the appetite! Great stuff 👌👌👌

Brilliant to see salmon in that river, I've started salmon fly fishing since i retired but no luck yet... I'll stick at it but I need to get a move on, im 63 this year! I'll watch your other videos for inspiration. Thanks for sharing that wonderous day.

Well that was amazing! I never thought I'd ever see 7 spring fish caught in one day to one rod in 2024. Must have been some run of fish. Very encouraging and obviously a very healthy river. Very well done!

WOW, well done Andrew! A joy to see. I caugh my first salmon September ‘85, then 2 in a day on 26/4/86 and another in the June. Lost my next 3 including a big one before my fifth landed August 2018. Nick from York

That’s an amazing day on the river. Fingers crossed we get a good season on all rivers. I was out for a quick cast on the river Ayr on Saturday morning but nothing showing.

@@AndrewMcGall fingers crossed for a good season. I love your set up. My switch rod is an evotec cast 11” 5w with a classic 5/8. I’m using a Mackenzie switch line with it, slightly heavy, but casts like a dream. Fantastic set up to use.

Anything between 5ft/15ft depending on conditions. The Finn isn’t an overly deep river so I don’t tend to use too heavy a tip unless it’s big water or early cold water

True but they can often be a very good taking places.. lots of theories why but often thought to be because fish can detect the electricity and slows them down and so they can be ‘intercepted’!
