It's here! It's here! Our season 2 finale and a special guest - Mitch from The Commander's Quarters! For this episode, we all built decks around Ravnica lore themed commanders with a budget of $200USD (using tcgplayer.com prices), and - as is custom - ratcheted the spikiness up to 11.

Krenko is the cheapest of my 3 Commander decks, and it wins a decent amount at my LGS where people frequently have $500-1000+ decks. Mana crypts and reserved list cards are basically the norm there, A significantly cheaper Krenko deck can still come out on top a decent amout of times with a good hand.

Fun budget decks! We got to see everyone's decks accomplish their gameplans. Unaddressed Comments: 14:57 - Smothering Abomination's triggers are not doubled by Teysa, as they care about sacrifice, not death. For example, Smothering Abomination triggers when there is a Rest In Peace in play while Teysa would not be doubling anything.

teysa double everything that trigger by a death it would double but yes a rest in peace is a thing anyway the creature would be sacrified don't hit yard but exile ok anyway it still die then put into exile and so thing is still there

@@shyumby The point of the Rest in Peace example was to show that Abomination triggers from the act of sacrificing, not the death of a sacrificed creature. If it were the latter, Teysa would double the trigger.

Just a suggestion for the camera setting, have a higher f stop rating maybe 8.3f or something to make more of the shot in focus. That way both people will be in focus. Then set the focus manually to be sharpest between the two people so they'll be in equal focus

Right now we are using Logitexh C920 webcams, so we can't adjust light or focus. In the offseason, though, we hope to upgrade that so we have more control over the face cam shot! - Jim

Ok maybe I shouldn't be advertising this deck on here, but I haven't seen a Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord deck done right or done at all so here's the link: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/he-went-to-jarad-semi-competitive/ This is a midrange deck focused on the graveyard, so it has elements of nic-fit, reanimator, and tooth and nail / survival of the fittest. The big combo is to find up Minion of the Wastes, have more than 40 life by using Jarad's ability, and then turn 9 kill by spending 40 life and using Jarad's ability to simultaneously kill everyone.

I don't believe this infinite combo would work. While yes you can sacrifice Nether Traitor to the Phrexyian Altar to get a black mana, and yes a spirit token does get created, tokens sacrificed to the phrexyian altar wouldn't go to the graveyard, and you can't spend the black mana floating from the altar to bring back nether traitor if nether traitor is the card being put in the graveyard. It specifically states whenever "another" creature is put into his graveyard that you can pay 1 black to return nether traitor. He would need to have another creature to do this combo as the spirits can't go into the graveyard and nether traitor can't count towards itself for his ability to go off.

Tokens do actually hit the graveyard and count for dies triggers, however they don't remain in the graveyard and are removed once state based actions are checked!

Was hoping someone could clarify something for me; how does the initial loop that Mitch uses to get infinite mana work? Nether Traitor states "whenever another creature is put into your graveyard from play". When tokens die, they don't go to the graveyard, right? So how would he be able to recur Nether Traitor?

Tokens do go to the graveyard briefly but they cease to exist when state-based actions are checked, just before any player gets priority. Applicable rule is 110.5f. - Jim
