MAGICAL EXPERIENCE at the MLB "Field of Dreams" game in Iowa

How did I get free tickets? What was it like in the corn? How close did I get to Kevin Costner? Was the apple pie hot dog any good? This entire day was EPIC and I owe a huge thanks to Chevrolet for everything they provided, including a 2021 Chevy Tahoe SUV for my road trip from Chicago to the Field of Dreams site in Dyersville, Iowa.

Anyway, this game between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees took place on August 12, 2021, and MY GOD there was lots of action. Aaron Judge hit two home runs. Brett Gardner and Giancarlo Stanton also went yard, along with Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez, and Seby Zavala -- and then Tim Anderson finished the night with a dramatic walk-off shot.
Other than the game itself, I had an incredible time checking out the Field of Dreams movie site. Show them some love on Instagram (@fieldofdreamsmoviesite) and definitely visit someday in person if you have the opportunity. Batting practice was also fun but massively challenging given the fact that there were NO SEATS in fair territory. Double-thanks to Rob Brantly (@robert.brantly) for tossing me two baseballs while the Yankees were hitting. Thanks to celebrity chef Guy Fieri for his newest culinary invention, to actor Dwier Brown for the mid-game selfie, and to Bradley from the Field of Dreams operations staff for helping me out with special access during the game. Thanks to Fenway Chris for filming and thanks to Major League Baseball for making all of this happen. Why not also give some thanks to W.P. Kinsella, author of the timeless and brilliant novel "Shoeless Joe" which was the basis/inspiration for the movie "Field of Dreams." I first saw this film on a flight to New Zealand, with my Dad. It started my interest/love of baseball. Shortly after our visit my Dad passed away. Every time I watch this film, it ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes. It was beautifully filmed and acted. I thank those who made it, as it is such an important film for me personally.

When I went to Iowa on a road trip to South Dakota on our way home, my parents friend invited my dad to this game and he was so excited cuz he was a Sox fan for life! I think it his him on the left and the friend taking the pic at 1:57 lol

I had tears in my eyes when the players walked out of the corn when I watched the game on television. Had to be amazing in person! This game was perfect for a special game like this. A lot of drama, an exciting finish. It was the best thing MLB has pulled off in twenty years, easily.

I don't pretend to know where that game ranks in all time great sports moments for everyone else, but for me, seeing everything about that movie come to life in reality was overwhelming. Zack, I have watched this video probably a half dozen times by now. And I'll keep watching it. I absolutely love it!!! When you were talking about there not being any bleachers in the outfield, in my head I was like, "Go hang out in the corn!" And then you were like "what the hell...I'm going to the corn!" I wish you had gotten to stay there. Any video footage I've seen of that day, the players walking out of the corn, Dwyer being there, Kevin being there, the movie music being played....it all looked incredible. I would have cried. Field Of Dreams is one of the greatest films of all time and I'll always watch it again no matter how many times I've seen it. Thank You Zack for going to Iowa for this and thank you for making such a great video to accompany your experience.

I have no desire to see the Reds or Cubs. I was forced to see the Reds every year for spring training because they were training here. We went when the Yankees came because I was a big fan of the Mick. He gave me a signed ball which I still have. I remember seeing the Dodgers there and the Pirates. I no longer cheer for the Yankees after being a fan for 60 years. So, I loved it when they lost
