this is how he did the trick .. he first took the card and then spreads it when he does that if u look closely u can see that you're wasting your time and just enjoy the video stop looking for how he did it
Kobedunksonyou some mathematics and 3 of diamonds I think he snugged in a bit while we weren't looking. This is a very impressive trick though. His knowledge of maths with his adept hands! God's he is unreal!
Time travel. Obviously its already been invented in the future, so he watches the sequence of the cards before he writes the lines for QuestLove and wears the shirt with the odd card out. Not really hard.
Abshishek Jain - Oh my god dude, you must be one of the dumbest people on the planet. Of course I don't think he time travelled. He will be dead long before time travel is invented! Someone else time travelled back and cut him a deal of some sort, probably a life of wealth and fame behind the scenes. You are so stupid.
@@summerboyfun It's "spelled" so I guess you deserve to be insulted also.. Piece of advice..If you're going to try and make someone look stupid in your reply, at least proofread it first..🤷♂️
@2:15 He grabs a certain face down card and purposefully makes it the second card from the top @3:15 The 3 of diamonds is face up. If you follow the card from 2:15 it would have to be face up too. He makes sure the face-up 3 of diamonds is the second card from the top @4:18 He makes sure the order of the face-down red cards do not change as they are counted. The face-down 3 of diamonds is the last red card to be counted.
While this trick may have been as simple as a deck swap. The preparation and his delivery of this bit is genius. Using his Instagram to post the photo of him and quest and then being able to perform in front of the hottest late night star in the game. Well done sir. Fucking amazing bit.
For fucks sake, would you dumbasses stop Tryna decode how it's done and just enjoy for what it is for? What's fuckin wrong with you people? This shit annoys me in every comment section of all the magic videos, like guys nobody even asked for it
I know how he did the trick. Switched the shuffled deck with a set up deck. Afterwards, the faced up and faced down cards did not mess up the order of the 17 cards, 6 spades, hearts and 3D.
Funny how, myself included, all of us reach out in the comments to try to figure it out. This is actually a fairly well known trick, but EXTREMELY difficult to pull off. So even if you know how the tricks are done (i mean for all magician videos), the real fun is watching someone pull the trick off with this much skill. I think everyone knows how he did it (or at least anyone who just went to the 3rd top comment and clicked the link), but this must have taken years of practice and I've never seen it pulled off so smoothly. That's the beauty of magicians. Good ones don't really slip up and entertain you. GREAT ones pull things off so flawlessly that it really seems magical. This is a great Magician.
Dan himself doesn't see this as magic. He calls it illusion, but for me I see real magic. I saw what he did in Nepal and it was wonderful and inexplicable. I think he has some powers which help him to do what he's doing.
You all wanted an explanation so here it is. Just a disclaimer, I am not at all a magician. I was totally fooled watching it the first time, but as an engineer, I couldn't leave a problem unsolved. So here's how I think it was done. Before the show, he arranged the 17 "special" cards together and split them in two groups, 9 in one half of the deck and 8 in the other half. Then he put the deck back together. At 0:26, he split the deck in two, separating it so that half the special cards were on top of one half deck and the other cards were on top of the other half deck. At 0:29, he shuffled it precisely so that cards from each side are evenly mixed (left right left right etc). You can see this at 0:39. At this point, he can look and verify that he shuffled them correctly. Now all 17 special cards are at the top of the deck. At 1:06, while the people are looking at the big number, he is identifying where to split the deck next. His first split needs to separate all 17 special cards from the rest of the deck. At 1:20, he splits the deck in three. The stack closest to the camera is the 17 special cards and the other two stacks are the rest of the deck. At 1:36, Jimmy is given a choice to select two piles to shuffle together. Ideally, the magician wants him to pick the two piles that are not the special cards (and that is what he did). After selecting the piles, the regular cards are mixed together. If instead he had picked the special cards, the magician would probably have had him flip one stack face up and then shuffle, still keeping them separate. At 2:00, Jimmy is given a choice to select one of the two stacks to flip over. Jimmy selects the regular cards and they are flipped over. Then all the cards are mixed together. Note that now the special cards are face down and the regular cards are face up. At 2:30, Jimmy removes half the deck and sets them on the table. Meanwhile, if you watch carefully, at 2:35, the magician flips his half deck upside down. Note that now the magicians stack is upside down (special cards face up and regular cards face down) and Jimmy's stack is rightside up (special cards face down and regular cards face up). At 2:48, they both lift off a few cards from their stacks, flip them over, and place them on each others stack. This process of flipping their cards over and swapping stacks cancels itself out since the magician had previously flipped his stack. At 3:07, Jimmy is given a choice to flip one of the stacks before shuffling. He selects his stack to flip so now it matches the magician's stack. The stacks are mixed and all special cards are face up and regular cards are face down. At 3:22, the magician squares up the deck and places it back down on the table. In the process, at 3:27, he flips the deck over. Now all special cards are face down and regular cards are face up. At 4:15, the magician spreads the cards out and makes his big reveal: 17 cards face down etc. And because these are the same 17 cards from the beginning, he has complete control over what those 17 face down cards are. Magic Trick Solved.
For everyone who is interested: 3:25 if you reduce the speed you can see the smart deck switch and that is basically the whole trick. Simple but clever
To do this trick you simply have to shuffle 2 out of 3 packs while hiding a fourth one, you bring the unshuffled one out then you take the fourth one and you shove it up your butt!! HAHAHA -Stanley
Key is at 3:27. There, he turned the whole deck. Until this point he switched all cards he needed facing UP by giving certain tasks to Jimmy (splitting the deck, turning splits). With the turn at 3:27, he is certain that his cards would face down. We don't know what Jimmy would have to do if the cards would have been different. Of course, his cards we're defined beforehand with the T-Shirt and the cards held by Questlove.
He sets up the first split at 1:08. He looks at the cards and prepares the split in three. One third of 52 is 17,3 -> Count of total cards which will face down. He prepared those 17 cards before the trick.
Tyler , damn, I got another channel in which my name is Tayler durden, because Tyler was already given away. Now I found you!!!!! Give me my name back please!!! :D This is years ago by the way...
Not a deck swap trick this guy just has a great understanding of probability and was able to work out the dates very cleverly, also some really precise shuffling so they stayed in the order he set them up in from the start to get the right number of red and black in each deck
I actually just figured out it's not that difficult it's card manipulation and counteracting what jimmy chooses by doing the oposite with the other cards, like the deck it's flipped at the end right before jimmy puts his hand over it.
first thing... the deck is already organised and precut.. pause at 0:10 the shuffling reorganizes it into the order needed to perform the trick. second thing.... try it yourself.. get a pack of cards "shuffle them"...cut the deck 3 times mix 2 of the 3 piles together. turn up 1 pile of the cards and shuffle cut the deck again..cut both decks and transfer cards to other deck.. turn up a pile again try it again and preorganise the deck.. example all diamonds ace to king, all hearts ace to king.. etc.. see what result you get.. do it again with the same preorganised deck...all diamonds ace to king, all hearts ace to king.. see if its the same result..pretty sure it will be.. :)
All card tricks that involve choice revolve on a universal truth, "The choice doesn't matter." I was 12, I think, when I went to watch a magic show in Branson. I was so impressed I got my own magic set and quickly discovered that the point of choice was to change an aspect so that it doesn't change the outcome. "Pick a card any card." Then just put that card on the bottom and do a structured shuffle where you remove the first card allow them to choose the rest of the menuveures and always put the card on top.
Very good slight of hands, but around 3:25 he switches the shuffled chaotic deck with a pre planned deck which goes under Jimmy's hand. Remember at 3:10, Jimmy puts the "lucky number 9" of hearts face down but when they are spread out at 4:21, the 9 of hearts is face up. Also the 4 of hearts and 6 of hearts should also be face up, but you get the idea....
yeah because Pen and teller had another variation they had known of before he did his own take the plots are almost exactly the same. His is just a little more jaw dropping of an act compared to Kostya's. Everyone has a little different take on tricks so yeah they are different but are meant to have generally the same effect. Another take on this trick I've seen before while watching videos recommended from watching Pen and Teller.
Yes it is a change of deck. To confirm that remember the 9 of hearts that Jimmy turn down before the last shuffle? It should still be in face down position but its gone during the reveal
He just switched the deck of cards which he had already organized according to the order he wrote in those carboard papers, he asked to shuffle the cards just for a dramatic effect. We can clearly see that he changed the deck at 03:27 in his left hand.
Ok, but where did he ditch the other deck? He's clearly showing his left palm to the camera and Questlove can see his right palm. So where did the bad deck go?
Easiest trick in the book: He pre arranged those faced down cards, and changed them at 5:00 (see how they changed sides), from there it's all building up from the pre arranged deck
Sam Masghati That's not how it's done lol. It does have a slight setup where 17 cards, 6 spades and clubs, 4 hearts, and the 3 of diamonds, are on top and he switches out the decks while the camera is on the cards around 1:00. He has a bend in the card at the 17th card so he can lift from there easily. Then he just keeps the 17 cards face down and everything else he does doesn't change the number of face up and face down, just the order.
Plus he shuffled them himself, and only once and did a careful shuffle getting ever card to shuffle on top of the other half of the deck so he knows the order. Wearing the shirt is just a way of making it look absolutely impossible. Awesome trick though
He used mathematics to guarantee the number of cards that would be down, and colors, as well. I personally know a far more rudimentary card trick that has the basics of this in it. When you split the cards up, a certain amount will be statistically up and down. Manipulating this knowledge allows him to take pretty liberal steps with Jimmy to shuffle the cards. Usually it works in such a way, so that as long as he maintains that the cards are shuffled/cut in such a manner, it will mathematically work out that way each time. Forgive me for the poor explanation, but I'm no card wiz. I just know the one trick, and it's eerily similar to this. It's all math, though.
Phobos there was only this possible card order for the trick to work, otherwise the amount of spades, hearts and the appearence of the 3d wouldnt been possible.
RoadkillD418 I'm sure the producers know that Jimmy needs to be on instagram so they pull it up for him, so he doesn't have to waste time searching...that still wouldn't mean he knows what's happening.
Here's how he did it, When he's shuffling the cards he's really not, when he spreads them out he's trying to find a cue card. The idea here is to put the set up number of cards upside down hence the first prediction and which is why he asks jimmy to put some cards upside down. Once the cards are upside down the card trick is set. Remember that shuffling is nothing it's distraction. From selecting the upside down cards it's pretty easy because he's set it up.
