David did a even more simple trick. Literally just standing on the toes on one foot. That is why he was always standing in this weird position to the audience. If he ACTUALLY floated he would just stand with his face towards them?

No, there never was a trick. If you look closely at the magician how he suddenly is stiff floating up, a forklift operator is lifting him up with magnet behind curtains. the trick is you Not seeing reality. that is the secret to ALL illusions , not seeing it realistically .they use black background so you will not "See" the TRUTH. (Ilusion)

The only thing that ever bothered me (this video is the first time I learned for certain how it was done) is that this really is more about camera angles than magic: it can only be done perfectly head on, i.e. on video as opposed to for a live audience.

In fact, in front of a live audience most of them would see the trick (due to viewing angle). So either the audience would be "in on it" or no audience at all. It's still a bona fide magic trick though. They should do this in one camera angle without cutting between different shots though. At the end when the girls come back even from the front angle you can see the "slit" behind the guy where the pole came through as it hasn't closed back up yet.

Not to mention that the forklift would be heard behind the stage. I operate a forklift at work sometimes, and they are pretty loud. Since most magic is performed on stage, a lot of the magic tricks on this show only work on TV...

When they first bring the frame across the screen from the left, you can see the frame is very wobbly, it's obvious the frame detaches to let the arm through.

I'd like to know how David Copperfield did his flying though as he was not just in one spot he was all over so obviously no way a forklift or similar device could have flown him all over and then he also did it with rings swirling around him and also in an enclose glass case and the camera did go around the case so you could see there was nothing like the forklift lifting him.

This is the exact method used by David Copperfield in the first part of his "Flying in Grand Canyon" trick. Oh, how I missed the Masked Magician! I hope they will do another season of the show, since there are many new illusion/magic tricks that have been created after this show ended.

When the forklift lifted him, some of the apparatus lifted higher than the wall, and the audience would have seen it moving above the wall at the same speed he was going -so it wouldn't have taken a genius to spot what they were up to. 3:05 check it out

I knew from the first pass of the frame under him that he was being supported from behind. see how he moves in 0:57? he moves a little, as if on a hinge. I just assumed that there was some illusion or fake part of the frame, and I was right, it was the foam rubber.
