Magician reacts to Eric Chien perform close-up magic tricks with coins and sleight of hand on America's Got Talent 2019. Eric Chien performs his amazing Imagination Coins coin routine. Coin tricks and coin magic galore! It's clear why Eric Chien is a FISM winner and Asia's Got Talent winner as well. This video shows the reaction of a magician so you can see how someone in this field thinks about it! This is season 14 of AGT Americas Got Talent. And this is Eric Chien's 2nd audition for AGT in the Judge Cuts 2019. He seems to be doing well performing magic tricks for this American version of the show so far. Some of the best magic I’ve ever seen. It also makes you wonder who would win in a competition between Shin Lim and Eric Chien? What do you think? :)

Simon is absolutely wrong. Eric doesn't need to do anything "bigger." Both him and Shin Lim are thoroughly amazing and entertaining everyone, and as a result will voted through to the finals. In the words of magician Kyle Eschen, telling a close-up magician that they will eventually work up to doing bigger, stage productions is like "telling a violinist, if she practices hard, someday she will be able to play the cello."

Alex Shen he doesn’t mean stage stuff , he need a more powerful act to step up his game and on the competition, there are a lot of amazing acts. Eric’s 2nd peformance was a lot simpler than his first act, which was a lot bigger and longer.

Eric and Shin are the modern masters. Magic is safe and magic is blessed to have them both. Eric would have no problem going to Vegas imo. He will get to the point where he can work with whoever he wants. I hope I get them see them both perform live at some point. ♥️

Simon’s comment is meant as a compliment. The fact that he can perform these tricks so seamlessly it’s just like it’s real. Just like when you love or hate certain actors. You identify with the character rather than the actor.

Hey man I really dig your reactions and most of the time I’m watching these performances for the first time on your channel. My only slight complaint is when you switched the size of the video you’re reacting to. It’s easier to see the performance the old way where you were smaller than the video. Hey Jason. Great video yet again. I'm a new subscriber and have loved all your reaction videos. Including the philosophical Aesop's Fables. Lol. One request: when you add an annotation link (like to the Asia performance by Eric), can you also include it in the description? I have annotations off because some videos use them way too much. And there's no easy way to turn them on while watching your video. Anyway, thanks for all your work making these videos. Great job, and thanks for putting joy in people's lives.

I think magicians tend to change a little bit of the routines just to make something different and not being so repetitive, like the ribbon routine, he performed it differently in AGT as he did in FIS, same with this one.

GREAT VIDEOS by the way... LOVE the _SPECIAL EFFECTS._ The Goose that laid the Golden Egg is my favourite from Aesop. . I use the quote regularly: "Don't kill the Golden Goose" when my 2 guys try to get me to parachute off the side of the mountain; micro-lighting etc - we live in Cyprus. l pay for _them_ to do these daredevil adventures. (I enjoy living and get pleasure watching _them_ .) I've done similar stuff in my youth - a flying lesson which terrified me, parascending oh boy - l even danced on the stage in London once as an amateur in front of 3000 people! But as you get older you get more wary/scared. 🤣 *Your interpretation of the fable is spot on!* Some others maybe: greed begets greed; respect and appreciate what you've got someday you may loose it.🤔 (I think the drawing shows the misery of the old dear once she killed the Goose.🤣)

When I first saw him on his first Audition he told the judges he used to be an assistant of magic tricks he has very good sleight of hand. I think when Simon said up a notch I think he met use the stage not the table I’ve seen all his magic tricks and he does it behind the table or let’s say he does most of his magic behind the table he is a very humble magician

As far as the production of the large number of coins, I do make note that he holds his hands very close to the edge of the table. One possibility would be some sort of a contraption that he works with his feet/legs that lifts the coins up to where he can grab them with some subtlety, but with the audience members on either side, it would require a lot of care to conceal that. I do love the misdirection of going up to the judges' table for a final illusion while the coins on the table disappear. Could that be a timed mechanism in the table that worked that part? Not sure. As for Simon's comment about believing in magic, I think that it was perhaps meant to convey an attitude in watching magic, that you just enjoy the performance as if you believe actual magic is being performed rather than doing what most of us are doing -- trying to figure out the trick. And yes, I do think he was showing a bias for stage illusions.

I think when simon was refering to believing in magic with him and his kid he meant like believing in santa claus and that type of magic...he knows that its not real and its just a trick but it looks and seems so real, just like how kids do with christmas. Well my take on it at least...

Close up magic on a big stage vs TV is quite a bit different. Imagine watching this on TV from one camera angle, with no cuts to judges, or audience, I don't think it would be as powerful. However, sitting there with it being done right in front of you would be incredible. When Simon says make it bigger, I think it is a challenge for Eric to take close up magic, and make it a spectacle for the person in the back row. Shin Lim was able to do that with his finale trick.

5:15 I'm just an aficionado and can also see how he does some of the stuff, but there's no way I can do it either. He is a pure artist, a master of the sleight of hand. I think that knowing magic helps me to appreciate much more his perfectly clean moves, a spectator without knowledge would be amazed, but will miss that subtile essence of the trick that only magicians and aficionados can understand.

Eric Chien is amazing regarding sleight of hand, his presentation skills are getting better but still need work, but not everyone can be like Miguel Angel Gea regarding that. That said Eric is an amazing magician who as a long way to go in magic, and at his age displaying this level its just brilliant 👏👏👏👏🙌

Simon has a young son called Eric. He probably said what he said to instill a sense of wonderment in the kids that watch the show. Tooth fairy, santa claus, easter bunny etc are real to them. I thought magic was real for a long time. I enjoyed that :] Or perhaps he genuinely believes in magic.

A person or some kind of rig was used to place the coins in his hands from under the table. you can see his hands dip and hitch just a little as hus hands meet the table edge.

how he got so many coins? A: he put both hands on the edge of the table, basically the left hand to hidden the mechanism, that delivered the bunch of coins to his right hand, you can see the impact on the right hand when he receives the coins.

Okay I’ll answer. I’ve been watching AGT since the forever lol. Simon believes magic is real. He has said it many times. As for him making the show bigger. No please. Shin Lim took this advice like you said and I thought it instantly made him cheesy. Seeing those cards floating on stage. I think Shin realized that and stuck with the close up stuff for the rest of the show. Also what weird advice to give to a magician after having Shin win AGT and then the all stars by keeping it close up. If starts producing cars on the stage it’ll ruin him. I hope he stays with close up and doesn’t listen to anyone to change it up.

Great one Jason. I am particularly impressed with all these your reactions. I have been following you for about a year, now. I can't wait to see you on AGT one day. Eric is fantastic and I hope he wins. In this video he forgot to collect the remaining 3 coins. All the other coins changed but the remaining 3 left on the table did not change! That is not our imagination 😁 All in all, I enjoy his acts. On a contest with Shin Lim. Shin's personality will the contest not his act. Eric is very great probably greater but Shin wins. Shin can withdraw money from my account without my knowledge. He is the magician.

I think i saw a hand from under the table passing the coins into his hands as he close them together from the edge of the table its very quick tho, as it should be. I think, after Simon's commentary, it might be a good idea for Eric to pull out his Rubix cube/chocolate routine. The magic/sleight of hand itself might not be as impressive, but I think it has that kind of stage-filling presence that would impress the judges and the general audience (similar to what Shin Lim did with his 9 of hearts routine). Really rooting for Eric to make it through to the end!

Could there be a gimmick (or a person) in the table that "feeds" the large stack of coins into his hands? That would explain why he had his hands so close to the table, and why his hands shift slightly before he lifts them to reveal the coins. EDIT: At 5:52 you can see he puts the back of his left hand on the table, all the way to the edge by his lap; after this, his hand jostles slightly, and I believe that's when the coins are loaded from below/behind.

Hello Jason great video as usual. But can you raise the volume a little? at office only have headphones and there is a limit on how high can go.

did you try raising the volume on both your computer's setting as well as on the RU-vid setting? There is a separate volume control at the bottom left of the video window...

@@JasonParkerMagic Yes. All are max. But my ears aren't as efficient as they used to, so I need to play a little louder. That only happen in a few videos. But mostly is with the embedded video you are reacting too, because I can hear you very clear

I was decent at coin magic (I don't practice nearly enough) in my day (which was 40 years ago. I know how he did some of it, but I agree, he was super clean. The multi-coin production, no clue.

Stuff is great. Your videos are really awesome. Is anyone else bothered by the fact that he’s acting like he hasn’t performed in front of a lot people. Are the producers maybe telling him to say this. To make him have a story? I think his real story would be much more entertaining. Just let him tell the truth.

I think Simon meant it was as good as real magic? And yes he wants a: "showman" making airplanes disappear not just coins🤔 Simon's never happy - if he made a Lear Jet vanish then he would say: "Ah, but its not exactly a Jumbo is it?
