I think it is a forced card, when Penn says if it was forced you'll win, his eyes light up and he smiles... I think it was a forced choice so all he has to do in the head phones is tell Allison which card to look for. The butterflies are just red herring
You gotta find the performers RU-vid page and watch it there to get the true audio. The rights to the song is released from the studio and the performer can show it on their page without consequence.
The unique marking system hidden in the back-design of The Butterfly Playing Cards contains two different marking systems that can be used separately, but they will make you a miracle worker if they are combined. This is how the card was able to be found among the others even though the deck was shuffled right after Penn introduced his card back into the deck. 👍🏼

He hinted at way more than just "marked cards", he hinted at how they (would have) been used. And was, it seems, wrong. -- Y'know, "We think that was self-working!" or "That was some brilliant sleight of hand" wouldn't really cut it as far as "We saw through your trick" goes.
yes that's what they were hinting about and I think I know how he did it. I have had the permission to sell this one on penguin for almost a year... I think there's only one-way to design this trick. not necessarily with the backs, but with the faces.
Well, Karpathian mountains are in 55% in Romania, but they are also in Slovakia, Ukrain, Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Austria and Serbia, so he's legit. From the other hand Karpathian Mountains are magical, so it's the best place for a magician to search for an inspiraton :)
The deck is called a butterfly deck. It is a deck of marked cards, which he hinted at during the beginning. I assume that the audio was a direction of reading the cards to find the one that had been rotated 180 degrees.
I love your videos. I'm no magician, but I like figuring out how the tricks are done. Watching you react and listening to your commentary helps with that. I really like that when you do know exactly how the trick is done, you don't judge the magician on that alone. You take into account the performance and the personality of the magician. So many people tear down the magician if they know how the trick is done, not realizing that it's really the performance that matters (except on Fool Us, of course). You give credit to them when it's due. Much respect for that. Keep up the good work. I always look forward to your new videos.
I am Ondřej too, and you would not believe how many places still do not accept unicode characters and how hard it is to get the "ř" across:) I do not care about people mispronouncing it, but when I am filling a form, it is so so annoying when it vanishes or changes to something else or I am told to use only valid characters only to be told off on the next screen that my name in the form does not match my name on the card or something.
I've said it before but i'll say it again. Eduard, Magicians watch you as well. You engage us. Spend more time on your intros for us! Do something that make us think how did he do that? Any magician with just 1 years experience will know all of your intros. I know your channel is for laymen, but we watch you too.
I do a new trick every day. There's no way I'll be able to continually fool magicians like that. The best I can hope for is the magicians will get some ideas or even learn from some of the things I do. Even the "simple" stuff take a long time to truly master. I've seen 1 million terrible versions of the basic ACR or two card monte. Ultimately I'm just trying to share my passion for the art, not just fool people :) To me magic is about creating a connection with the audience. Appreciate your support!
As you implied you wouldn't let someone take these cards to the movies but that isn't used for this trick, on the face of it there seems to be no way she could find his card but there is one way to do it and that is how it was done.
Ok my reply was possibly too cryptic, she could see the turned around card from the face because they are a one way deck not only from the back but in a very clever and subtle way from the front , it's plain to see once you know about it and that's probably what she was told through the headphones.
Lots of people claiming it was down to the (Butterfly) Deck, I dissagree. I think the deck choice was to specifically lead them down the wrong path (which it did). This kind of thing is what's wrong with the show now, they could even change the name from 'Fool Us' to 'Trick US' because that's what so many of the acts on are more interested in.
That intro is my new favourite change to do. It's awesome. As for the vid, it is genius. Had the pleasure to handle those cards and they are just beautiful. Love this act. He is the man.

this is a special deck if i'm not completely wrong i think i saw the review (by magic orthodoxy, deck was Butterfly Playing Cards) and it has a locator system in it, but i don't know any more tbh
the butterfly deck is oneway.....the other features of the deck seem to be a bit too complicated to relay through a recording, so if it was in fact Allison finding the card, that was it, butttttt......he left the shuffle to Penn, and there was no way to insure that Penn's shuffle wouldn't have led to misdirection.
the butterfly reference was trying to say that the cards were marked. because the back of the cards had butterfly pattern on it.. but they were wrong. the cards were not marked. there was also 3 more code words in their guess, which was also wrong... obviously. but most people only hear 3 codes.. butterfly and 2 of the others. i only recently figured out the other code, which was a very nice way of mentioning it.
Magicorthodoxy has a deck review on these cards. It is the butterflydeck. I think without him telling how, this will give you a very good idea of how it could be done and P&T being wrong about it ! By the way I can't wait for this deck to be commercialized and available on the market because man they look good!!!
He was talking about the deck but it is an unmarked deck only thing is I'm not sure they have been released yet Chris Ramsey had a video on them when he was showing rare cards great vid todor keep up the great work
In a longer version of the video, as Ondrej walks off stage he leaves the cards on the table and you can see Teller flipping through them as they cut to commercial. :-) I think it's cool how they're always trying to figure it out the method.

I just understand something and they were clearly were fooled... Listen carelfully to what Penn says and try to figure out what he said wrongly. I still don't know exactly how he did this, but let's say that the suggestion of having 52 recordings on his phone is a real possibility

I was going to comment last week that Murphy's Magic was copying your reaction videos, but it was specific for this deck which they will release soon. I have no idea how the trick is done other than it's a magic deck of cards. But it is cool the trend you've helped create.
Its a special deck of cards, thats actually very common now in europe, but has not seen impact in the USA, its called "butterfly Deck" Ondrej has invented this together with a friend, and it took them 4 years to work out a system thats located and marks the cards in the deck!
maybe, the impression I got was that P&T were saying Ondrej read the marks on penn's selected card and from my understanding of the butterfly deck you use markings on other cards to determine the selected card in which case the cards were marked. On the other hand when Ondrej's face lit up when penn said he believed he had a free choice I get the feeling the card was forced and if that's the case then Ondrej used unmarked butterflies.

Oh really? You know me I don't know anything about non-sleight stuff, actually was pretty funny I did some magic at the club last night and one girl spent at least 10 minutes looking closely at every individual card to make sure they're not trick cards in any way XD I was like no, I'm really that good haha
Nice! That's funny! Last week I was doing some ring, rubber bands paper clips and coin tricks for this guy, I could tell he was getting a little freaked out. I got a deck, did Here Then There and wanted to go into a few Ambitious Card phases. When I had him sign a card he wrote "Jesus Is The Ultimate" and walked away refusing to see anything else!
The cards had literal pictures of butterflies on them. Alyson pulled the bottom card in the deck. Somehow, dude got Penn's card to the bottom for Alyson. I don't know how. Lol

I've finally figured out how you are doing it but finding it impossible to keep the cards together. God knows how you manage to snap holding cards in that position 😖How long did it take to learn this? It seem virtually impossible!!! Would you be so kind to do some pointers? Or even quick tutorial?

I had to go back and rewatch this as well, because I wanted to verify that he didn't get a look at the non-selected cards while fanning them for Penn. But he didn't. It was a very nice effect. Thanks as always for your vids. Don't know if I mentioned this in any previous comments, but I have had the distinct pleasure of visiting Wellington twice back some 20 years ago, on business. It was quite beautiful and the people were very friendly. I even ran into a couple of ex-pat Texans (where I am) while there. Not sure what part of New Zealand you live in, but it's a great island nation, and when my wife and I finally get finished working (that is, retired), I'm hoping to take her there for a visit. there's a cut in the video after he takes the cards back from penn , according to the shots in the video he didn't examine the cards after they were shuffled and passed to him so the question of what he saw that got them still the main question ... Alison couldn't have found the card because he was the one to see it and she was to reveal it only.
Penn said too much and gave away what to focus on with his "I only got to look at it for a moment or two. You got to look at it a lót". Of course Penn wasn't fooled by Ondrej Psenicka. Penn didn't want to expose thousands of magicians around the world who are using the same kind of ... (I leave this open because I don't want to ruin their card tricks too). Penn must have put his professional knowledge about tricks and illusion aside to give Ondrej this "Fooled Us" Trophy. B.t.w., I love butterflies. All those beautiful variations..
it doesn't matter that he looked at allison the entire time. He watched the card when penn was going to touch it, he saw that. I don't know what did allison really listened with the headphones.
