Lea's act was significantly more impressive and entertaining than Duztin's. Plus the blatant emotional manipulation always turns me off in a competition show.
Wouldn't have put it quite so harshly, but... yeah, along those lines. He was competent, just not doing anything very new or impressive. And I dunno, this may be just me but conveying a positive message through wanton littering clashed a bit in my mind (though sure, there was no actual messaging conflict there). I would've gone with Lea, maybe the act's shortness worked against her but still. She had, again, some genuinely new tricks up her sleeve aside from the theme. Well, at least the one anyway. I'm sure she'll have a good career though regardless; congratulations are in order for all the finalists.
Sometimes, you are just too nice Jason ;) Not a bad bone in your body! I personally found Dustin nauseating who seems to have a saviour complex which I find gross. Interestingly, quite a few people who have been adopted or in the foster system have come out and said how uncomfortable they are with his presentation and the way he phrases it. His magic also seems to be pretty poor. In the quarter final he did one bit of 'magic' which was a deck switch when the camera conveniently went off him. I dunno. If I were a magician like yourself who spent their lives dedicated to improving and crafting, I would be incredibly frustrated that someone can come on stage, do a couple of basic tricks, and win the biggest Talent show on the planet. But maybe that's just me as a cynical human!
Lea's performance is incredibly more complex than any of the performers so far. She must command and coordinate the entire stage design, setup, costume design, her motion, move with the music, with the story, all must be done with impeccable precision, etc. His act is a real MULTIMEDIA act, far above anyone's else. She is not in this business so long, so to critique her, one must take some perspective. She is amazing!
Same with Lea, she just added one new trick with the hula hoop and dresses up the set with themes. But I do like Lea much much better. Dustin was way too cheesy and I feel like he has ADD or something it gives me a bit anxiety watching him
Hello Wolfgang, I see you're an engineer based off your YT channel. Very nice channel by the way for those interested in CAD. :) Also, in regards to your comment... I think a lot of people were surprised by the outcome. And for a mentalist performer like Dustin... I guess it can seem like a lot of what you are doing is the same. However I do at least appreciate that he had a positive message .... I think his presentation was a big part of his winning the show.
I liked Dustin's magic but I thought Lea was more entertaining. Maybe Dustin will have her open for him? Her boyfriend is a magician and has been on AGT doing his appearing/disappearing/multiplying CD magic.
Dustin's real strength isn't in his ability to create complicated magic. It's his presentation and ability to connect with others. Knowing how to do a trick, and knowing how to present a trick, are two very different things.
Thanks for the video, I was waiting for this. I liked Lea's act more, I think that the duration plays against her, but the act was so smooth and mind-blowing, still, glad that she make it to the top 5 🙌 agree with Simon, she is the best quick change artist in the world 🌎
Another excellent video! Love Lea's performance! Definitely had the "Wow" factor that her previous ones did. And her use of the hoop seemed to be a "gotcha" moment for people familiar with quick change, and how other parts of her acts are done. It was all so fast, I didn't even realize until near the end that she was "stealing" the painting's colors. Great concept, and executed far better than previous mishaps. Dustin Nailed that picture restoration. For a second I was wondering if the balloon was gonna pop, (seen too many uncooperative balloons) glad it went off perfectly! The rest of the act was kinda meh for me. It's a good message, but stuff like this always comes across as schmaltzy to me. it was also kinda obvious at the end that there were plenty of blank confetti and not just the "GIVE" ones. I'm not surprised that he won, just a bit disappointed, I was hoping Lea would win. The fable seems fairly straightforward, and I don't have any extra thoughts, except that I applaud you for keeping a straight face!
Small disagreement to your comment here. I think Lea’s changing to the judges’ “previous” color is a better idea and that’s what she did. The concept is that she “stole” the color. It matches the bank heist theme better. Love your channel as always. 👍🏻❤️
Your right you can judge people by their friends, you bring happiness and positivity to hundreds of people I'm proud to be accquainted with you through your videos let alone be considered your friend.
Sorry to be blunt, but Dustin is B tier magician (a tier you hire for kids parties) with sob story - which works wonders in AGT. Literally the weakest act in the final won it, it's freaking ludicrous.... Lea was miles better, especially in the final it was holy shit tempo, just bam, bam, bam - but she didn't have a sob story. Lea is also prime inspiration for all women magicians - with no gimmicks - just passion, talent and tons of hard work.
You are absolute pure joy to watch!!! As a new subscriber, this is only the second video i have watched, and it just makes me happy!! You could be reading the phone book, and i would be hanging on every word, taking in all the mannerisms and such. I have decided to watch these after my grievous nights at work!! It helps calm me. The Aesops fables at the end is like a bed time story read to me, that i never had as a kid. Thank you for that!!! You are brilliant, mister!!! Keep em coming!!!!
Lea was brilliant. Her best performance, but very short indeed. I would love to see what she could do with the budget from AGT and more time to prepare. I was always skeptical that a full 2 hour show would be interesting, but I'm not so sure anymore. However, I didn't like Dustins performance at all. I'm just sick of all these fake sob stories. He had a different sob story in every performance now. I'm totally fine if people have a positive message, but it needs to be authentic. And I just don't buy it in this case. I also don't think his magic is very sophisticated. If you compare this to Shin Lim or Eric Chien they were on a completely different level.
The book you're holding was first printed March 26, 1484. Next March 26, you should totally do a "Magician INTERPRETS one of Aesop's Fables" with a bonus reaction to a magic act at the end :P
2:32 if you put the playback speed on 0.25 you will see her 1st cloth got loosed and the what she was wearing inside got out. The hulahoop was just a fake illusion. No kinetic energy needed.
Very entertaining video. I was wondering what you thought of their performances in the finals. Your commentary was right on. BTW, the lady’s sad face in the desert really had me laughing and you’re right AGT does tend to promote those acts that have a sob story attached.
I know it's hard to decide how to do the vids now. Personally, I preferred the angled/crookedy vid insert vs just the highlight clips. Thanks for persevering and continuing to put out vids!

I can almost bet every top 10 act has a gig somewhere lined up. Maybe not a headliner, but a good solid foot in the door and making money. It will depend on them how they want to pursue the opportunity. My 2 cents.
I refuse to call Dustin a magician. Dude is a musician who used cheap magic for his sob story. He literally sounds like he’s about to cry every time he speaks, like he himself can’t believe how inspirational he is. His RU-vid, Instagram is all about promoting his music. Lea is amazing and revolutionized the quick change act, whereas previous acts relied on hiding behind curtains or cover, she totally changed that.
Leah’s acts are amazing. However, the first change was just a little off-timing. We see the first outfit pulled away AFTER the gold confetti has cleared. It should have happened while it obscured her.
Jason, Prior to the attack of your home, you were asking for suggestions on what effects you could & should use to audition for "FU". Here's a thought! Choose a few Aesop's Fables. Set the stories to magic & music. But include at least one quick change gag. Maybe from Typical Tux Guy to your Sloppy T-Shirt FABLEMAN. Your effects are what moves the story along. With the final BIG GAG being the moral. Now I would recommend you pick 3 or 4 Fables to give you not only flexible but also return gig prep. Happy to know you and your girlfriend are safe in Poland. Aesop's fables: The people we associate with influence what others think of us. No doubt. At work, I like to be around people that are generally considered hard workers and likeable. It doesn't automatically make people think I'm a hard worker or likable. I still have to put in the effort. More importantly, the people we associate with influence our thinking. When I talk with successful friends, the conversations are much different than my...umm...less successful friends. My hard working friends encourage me to be a hard worker. I'm not saying we should shun unsuccessful people. I am saying that my successful friends influence me talk about more meaningful subjects, and they help me improve my life much more. If you have goals in life, find people who have accomplished goals similar to the one you want, they'll make a difference.
First of all, it's not a bank heist; it's a art museum heist. Second of all, yes, the audience is not social distancing, but they all need to wear a mask.
Congratulations to Dustin, I totally respect the consultants assisting him. Not a big fan of the sappy, pull the heartstrings acts so I would have chosen Lea because of her energy and attitude. Aesop's, I was thinking the same thing about the comparison to make him look better rather than as a companion. He could have been an undercover @ss and comparing him to his company would not be fair. 😁
Outstanding video Jason. Entertaining and funny as usual. BTW my theory on the lack of social distancing: wouldn’t surprise me if they require all audience members to prove they have been vaccinated, and still wear a mask to dramatically lower the chances of catching and spreading the virus. It could happen, but with both safeguards the odds are low. I’ve been to 2 events on Westcoast where vax cards are required before entry.
Great summary of these two fine artists. But Dustin won AGT. I think he deserved it he to me was very relatable. Well done to both performers 😊👍😊👍🤜🤛👏👏👏👏♣️
Didn't care for Dustin or Lea... I know it's unpopular, but Lea just walks to a point on the stage and someone behind the scenes pulls her outfits off. That's not magic either! The two changes at the end though - yes thumbs up to those. If her entire act consisted of changes like the two at the end, well....

As someone who looks for to his uploads, I'm just saying its not the same as the videos I've gotten acusstomed to...(with the AGT videos) so we can see his "live" reaction and comment so we can easily follow along. Again, I'm not saying he's not trying ofcourse he is.
With her amazing and varied act, and innovations, never seen before to me anyway, she should have won at the very least second place. And getting skunked by getting fifth? Lousy result and similar to our political "elections, " of late. No sense to it but the wrong people getting top billing. She really should have gotten top prize for sure. Skewed results? Eehh maybe.
I will find a way to Illegally watch there acts one day too bad we couldn’t watch the acts while you talked about them really enjoyed that makes me want boycott watching their show well I was pulling for Layla
Although Lea did the quick change better and faster there were several mistakes that somehow everyone is just overlooking but had that been another act, they would have been called out on them

I’ll just boil it down to this. If I’m in Vegas I would pay to see Lea. I would not see Dustin for free, his sob story act is so old. Initial performance was fine, but to base every single act about that behind some unoriginal magic is not worth the million dollar prize.
Am l the only one who didn't understand why Dustin won - was it because he was a man* or magician and Lea was a quick- change artist 🤔 if so, why go to the trouble of having different kinds of acts on the show when they only want magicians to win? No offence JP - l think DT was good but Lea had the _je ne sais quoi_ that _sparkle of celebrity_ that was lacking in DT. *All l can say is that l believe more girls than men vote on shows like this and that is why DT won.
I think he look more Americans. That give him a lot of free vote. Actually, I was thinking the native American will win (Simpson ?). She was good, much better than Dustin

I really enjoy your videos! Other magicians nit pick everything. The way you critique is very helpful and not hurtful. I really hoped Lea would win. I thought she had better stage presence than Dustin. I’m not really a fan of sob stories. Most people have one. His message was good, but it could have been done better. Just my opinion. The reason why Quick-Change Acts are so quick is because Quick-Change Artists only have limited time to prepare their act. Also, Lea makes her own costumes for her act, so she only had a few costumes.
Lea's performance was weakened by returning to stand at the back of the area in front of pcitures in order to change. Hula hoop was impressive though. Dustin boring sob story,and use of a stooge I suspect,as if not its too perfect and this real magic. Again weakens what came before.
Both Leah has done good and bad with magic. She could not compete better on the time and the means to put in place. There is genius in all of this. In the future and with a longer and more careful preparation, Léa will know how to mystify the greatest ... She is a great master of presentation, a real magician also that I would have liked to see also mix her tips with quick changes.
I'm sorry....once you slow down the video and see how she does it, there is simply no way to enjoy the act as any more than a novelty. I can slow Shim Lim's tricks to 25% and watch them 10 times and still have no idea how he does it because he uses skill. She literally uses multiple layers of clothes with strings attached that rip them off her. It's magic on the same level as the guy who uses jump cuts to make RU-vid magic tricks.
Léa Kyle is French champion of magic 2020, vice-champion of Europe of magic 2021, mandrake d'or 2020 ... What else? She is a true Artist in the noblest sense of the term. She has no competitor who comes close to her in her artistic field. This is why she fully deserved to take the victory or at least to finish in front of the second. 😁
@S Des that’s the whole point magic is only supposed to be watched once. Not everyone is a lo life like u with so much time on their hands they want to watch a quick change act in slo mo to try and “expose” her. Lea is and will be more successful than you’ll ever be
@@connorhighland6424 The whole point of magic is to do tricks based on props built by your boyfriend magician? Go back and look at tricks by Lim, Eric Chien, Kostaya, Farquhar, or Asi Wind and tell me that level of skill isn't the "point" of magic. Good luck with that....
