Common combos in this video + explanations: QRRASE = Creates a wall of ice that slows and electrocutes enemies (deals arcane damage as well); also explodes after a short time with similar effects. DSQQQ = Creates a rock which explodes on contact, wetting enemies (arcane damage boosts damage and knockback, more water = more / larger splash). SDRRR = Creates a rock which explodes on contact, chilling enemies (used directly after DSQQQ, deals extra damage to wet enemies, more cold = larger chill).

Common shields: Just plain E, applied to sword and used to break other shields, or cast on self or in front of you or around you to reflect beams and such. QSDE applied to self = Gives you rock armor, arcane armor, and water armor. This makes you resistant to most physical attacks (cause of the rock) and beams (which are arcane damage); you also can't get wet due to the water shield, protecting you from the "wet-chill" combo, and stopping you from electrocuting yourself when using lightning.

I played the game consistently since it came out. I've experimented with many spells and combos, and found my style and the most efficient spells. If I am challenged, I can use a variety of spells. I consider that being a "veteran" player.

I'm good at theory, but my crappy computer prevents me from doing stuff at the speed you're casting. Very impressive, man.

Just started playing recently. Seems playing with keyboard the casting is much faster than it is possible with controller.

i love this game, wish there were more people still playing, it kinda reminds me of green latern too, cuz u gotta use your creativity and fast intellect to counter what your up against.

@NuclearSidewalk Exactly. I take what I call the "base" elements, E (shield), D (earth), and S (arcane) and build off of them. Everything else is a modifier, and the spell combos are built on common sense. Cold freezes water, steam causes extra damage to something frozen, something wet conducts electricity better, water pushes.

I loved watching one character dominating this match while using only one life. :D

saw the title and was hoping for a veteran to showcase the meaning of arcane knowledge. saw three noobs getting knockbacked. over. and over. oh sure some other high level magic came into play but it seemed like the vet couldn't be bothered to do much beside horse around and knockback. still better than I could do but, no good for a long vid.

These people don't know what they're talking about. I'm an ex-veteran magicka player myself. Take my compliments I see all the tricks you used there. Shield combos, wall combos, counter walls, counter shields, blasting people out from the side of their cover... sure, you limited yourself to some basic spells and armors based on what works and they did not adjust properly. But that's normal. It's not your fault they didn't change the elements around enough. Why would anyone use shields that did not match the attacks his opponents were using? Don't be ridiculous people. This guy knows his way around buttons. And no, it's not faster than physically possible. It's pretty normal to be able to mash the buttons you need if you know what you're doing.

I try to cross spells that compliment each other. For example, an arcane, water, earth wall with an ice, electric, cold wall. They freeze as they electrocute and explode. Pretty fun :p

@M0o0P I see. Yea, I use SDQE so I can cast electric if I need to, but\ switch my shields according to what my opponent is doing.

ayy lmao, all that noise in the comments though. nice job not getting caught off guard by three players. I picked up the game just a while ago but already got at least a couple dozen too many kills on my friend in campaign even with his SAFE shield.

This video sucked, the only pro part about this was the fact that you could keep up with casting the same op combo against 3 people. and even then its not much a feat because they're new players.

I take it you taught these three a few more advanced lessons after the fight?

When I played a lot, I also got accused of doing macros. The simple truth is that a player can become extremely flexible with casting once they're familiar with combos are able to be creative on-the-fly.

How would you recommend dealing with 3 opponents over a large arena?

@Cloudtail1066 I switch between a few, depending on what my opponent is using. SDQE, SDRE, SDFE, SARE, SAFE, RQDRE, RQDQE and EDDDD.

I typo way too much xD (no idea how i manage to magicka like that) I meant qesd which is what I think your shield was, though as you cast it so fast it didn't show up below you, I had to look at the elements which flashed as you hit the keys.

In older versions of Magicka the elements in the bottom left corner did NOT light up when using any form of macros. I tried using macros with my Roccat once and it did not really work. Not even half of the elements appeared. And if they did, the element symbols didn't light up. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that he does NOT use macros. Anyone who´s complaining about macros should watch this: /watch?v=RtcYWYPgEgw First he explains how to cast (or spam) pretty quick, at 5:31 he casts the attack of this videos 2:30 attack. I don´t think he´s using macros in his tutorial

its crude. but it does seem to get the job done. I suggest you try 4 ice (not frost) and 1 stone.

As friendly fire is on at 100% it can actually get easier for if you're opponents' team is bad organized... Indeed I don't think that it is even possibl to figure out a fair rating rating for unbalanced teams in this game (of course you were a lot better but that was kinda natural as this game is only about you're practice, typing skills and, most importantly, expierience, so there isn't a born Magicka pro;)

Because recording hand movements cant be sped up or anything... Your point is so invalid. It is really possible to press keys that fast...

At 2:30, I don't understand why some people just don't understand. It IS possible to hit 6 buttons that fast in a row, They just cant do it. I can kinda do it, but not as good as that. However, i can understand their superstition. Some people in the online servers DO use Keybind. But i can tell you didn't use Keybind. If you did, all of the elements would of been summoned at once. But they where summoned 1 after the other, just realy fast. I hope this clears things up for some people.

I wouldn't say that you are a veteran at this game, its not because I think you are uisng a macro or anything. I just don't agree with spamming the same (or similar spells) over and over again, for me it would take the point away from PvP. I would use that spell to kill various times but i would also use beams and all the other spells which most of the time you didn't use.

holy shit... i have played this till the end of the game pluss countless more and i am shit in comparison.

Watch a professional starcraft player play and watch his hands they get upwards of 400 actions per minute (key clicks) average through out a 45 minute game, hes not using macros hes just good and fast

I dont see how people do not notice you are going easy on them right off the bat, you literally are messing with them from the start ( which I found quite hilarious) and you didn't really even try, So to people... That why he didn't use anything else, as they would not be able to even counter it

Kinde good this player and it looks he don't even cheat. He just uses too many combination to be scripted and most of his spells are easy to cast quick not extremely powerfull but spammable spells.

Watch the 8 elements in the bottom. If there was a macro, would they all light up individually? The internet just brings idiots out of the woodwork.

Unless your willing to recorded your handmovements with a camera while playing a match and upload it we will be having this discussion. It's not impossible it's just very improbable.
